Men who can't grow a beard have to shave more often because our facial hair is patchy, thin, uneven, etc. And it grows just as fast as on a hairy guy.

I've only recently subscribed to you as I'm currently in a bit of a crossroad in my mid 20s thinking about getting into the trade of becoming an electrican after watching my new house be rewired, never thought I'd also take some great advice on hair and beard transplants, I'm currently on finasteride, have been for about 4 years now and it's kept my receding hairline at bay until I have enough money for a hair transplant in the future, looks like you got great results Nick!, looking forward to your year update.

I struggled to get a beard. A vague bit of stubble throughout my 20s and when I hit thirty I could just about have some sideburns. 30 years later i have a reasonable beard (although it’s now grey). Not sure I’d have been brave enough to do what you did nick but FairPlay. I’m sure as you get older it will only get better. Must admit I still love the sideburn which I’ve now had since about the year 2001.

Honestly I've been waiting for this video, I'm a few years older than you, slightly shorter than you and people still think I'm 18 on site even though I've been in the industry near on 20 years.
It's annoying as anything and the majority of it is down to basically having hardly any facial hair growth I just look the same as I did when I was 16.
Looks brilliant and I'm definitely going to ask them/ a place nearer about having mine done.

These decisions, you may regret and then a few weeks later, be glad, basically your mood can change day to day, like different styles, or completely shaved. But you now have the option to make these choices. You are still you, a good honest hard worker, which is why we all enjoy watching your channel, and I can’t believe you haven’t hit 100k subscribers ages ago as you upload regularly, and you (and also Adam), are always entertaining to watch, but you also have some good serious topics to bring up about the industry. Anyone reading who’s not subscribed, do it. Nick really puts in the work to make good RUclips content, I can honestly say he deserves to do well.

This isn't a critisicm but do you find one cheek line (your left) is a bit lower then the other side? Maybe it's just the camera angles, beard colour or face shape - just seems to be a bit lower on one side.

I had to shave this morning as my beard grows nicely all over, except the bit just below where your jaw goes upwards... At those points on either side, it grows super fast and just looks weird..
And because it grows unnaturally fast compared to the rest of it, it looks like I've done it intentionally.. Trust me, I did not..
It looks like I tried to grow a Fu Manchu Mustache but on my jaw....

So many bits of this video resonated with me. I have a full beard that I grew without a transplant, but dear lord it was a labour of love.
Like you, i was a late bloomer, and it took pretty much until my early 30s before i could grow any halfway decent facial hair. Even then, it grew in patches, all at different rates, and i had to keep trimming back to even out the length, etc. It took 2 years for me to get to your 6 month stage. 7 years later, i have a respectable beard that gets compliments but every day i look in the mirror and see the thin areas and uneven sections. It takes a lot of effort to remind myself that nobody else sees that.
Good on you for seeing it through, and if i walked past you in the street, I'd never suspect for a second it was a transplant. Do what makes you happy and bugger whatever anyone else thinks!

i am nearly 43 and can grow a goatee although its not perfect it does grow and looks ok-ish ...i can grow patchy side burns although its not thick at all and for some reason the left side grows better than the right side ...but barely have any beard growth what so ever on either of my cheeks... I'd love to have a cross between Charlie Hannon , Kurt Cobain and Brad Pitt beard ...but dont think that will EVER happen 🤔😥. . I tried minoxadil for a year (that helped my goatee join up at the sides... But after seeing whats possible and your progress so far I am interested in this treatment as I dont want to go down the testosterone path... Can I ask ..?.. How much did it cost you ? ...and would you go back and do a second course of treatment to further thicken it up or are you more than happy with the facial hair that youve gained thus far ...very interested. Ps just subscribed 👍👍 Thankyou , great vids 👌

I guess I'm lucky in some ways, but not others - I've always had a 5 o'clock shadow by about bloody 11am, and my beard is now almost at my navel - however my head hair decided to fuck off a couple of years ago (hence growing the beard - i looked odd with no hair at all on my head or face!!). I can't say that I, even if it were free would bother with a head hair transplant - that's just not me. However, if it has made you happier, then good for you - and I'm glad that the hard work of sparking & youtubing has allowed you to do so. To quote a song by a band I like "Fuck the Haters."

Need to do like the rest of do - grow a "yeard". That's right, no touching it for at least 12 months to see the full effects. Then you can go to a men's barber shop and get it trimmed and styled.

For anyone that is tempted to do this pls READ. Before you get this procedure done make sure you try and watch photos of how your beard pattern should look and draw it on your face multiple times before the surgery as the guy in the video has the line way too low on the cheek and the sideburns way thinner. Your sideburns should continue as your hair pattern not thiner or thicker. Also the moustache has corners that usually not super sharp and the cheek line should be on the corner of the moustache or higher but never lower. The guy in the video should’ve filled up the moustache so it went higher and looked thicker and increased the cheek line. Also try if you want a beard very bad but are not gonna get it done for the next 5-6 months I suggest trying minoxidil it’s cheap and will most likely give you a full beard and if it doesn’t it’s worth trying as you can find out if you can have a beard with 100 bucks or pay thousands.

Yes I have a beard and have had facial hair of some kind ever I could grow it in my teens (only now in my early thirties has the moustache bulked up!), but it's a pain in the arse to maintain! A well kept big beard is more effort than clean shaven. With a trim I now look like a shit Ed Sheran 😂 I don't know what my point is here but we are all different and embrace it! That said if it makes you more comfortable in yourself then that's good.

@@UnimportantAccIt interfers with the normal Testosterone pathway (Technically it's a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor). Which for a fetus in vitro is really bad and can cause all sorts of malformities (Females have testosterone too). And since it can pass through the blood supply across the placenta the fetus can take it up. It's also bad for children to be exposed to this so anyone who is pre-puberty should also stay clear.
Basically, it inhibits certain male pattern hormone development...
Also, it has the potential to continue to do so even after ceasing medication.

Do more research on finasteride mate. Look up post finasteride syndrome. I would drop it immediately, DHT should thicken the beard but would potentially speed up balding on your head if it runs in the family so in your case it shouldn’t be needed to be blocked or shut down. Blocking DHT would not be good long term for your well being mate.

I'm glad you're pleased with it, but as someone with naturally fast growing facial hair, I hate the shaving and constant fiddling that's required with keeping a hairy face tidy, I've even considered electrolysis to achieve through science what you were gifted by birth.

I wish I could never grow a beard. I hate having to shave all the time 🤣 Each to their own

Good content. Definitely knocks 5 years off when it’s shaved off, but at least you can choose now. What’s the damage for a months supply of finesteride on a private prescription?

Love the instant regret from shaving a beard you will find yourself trying to stroke your beard where it used to be😂
    Good luck with the regrowth

Why though? Why do you feel the need to have a beard?

Finasteride is going to hurt the beard growth long run. But you’ll keep the hair on your head.

Takes balls to do that kid. Although dark haired, I have the ginger gene and fair skin, so facial hair is a pain in the neck - really. Hair gets caught in tee-shirt neckbands and gets ripped out.
On the other hand, I have an incredibly hairy arse. After wiping I need to use wet wipes otherwise skidmarks are inevitable. And nasal hair & ear hair is terrifyingly abundant.
My back looks like Guy the gorilla.
Now it's all started going grey. Apparently when you reach "a certain age," it falls out in certain places. Can't wait.
