The fact that he's game to write songs about his battle with alcoholism AND put them on an album from one of the world's biggest bands AND sings lead vocals on the album tracks AND perform live vocals just shows how much of a champion Chris is.
The vulnerability and stress in Chris's voice actually matches this song perfectly and brings with it an honesty that is absolutely contagious. This song is simply proof of Muse's versatility and musical prowess.
I was thinking about that as well while watching this. No egos here, just a band of equals. These guys' longtime friendship really shows in moments like this, and I love that ;).
Why does there have to be a comparison made between Matt's vocals and Chris' vocals? I think it's awesome that he was able to put this out there without having to step away from Muse. Awesome song - awesome performance. I listen to it often.
For me, this is one of the best things Chris has done with the band. He's got a great voice and the song is very personal, something which he conveys very well. I know he was very nervous about doing it live but he's overcome that and the result is very much worth it. He's come back from the brink and deserves great credit.
Kudos to Chris, to only start singing lead vocals at this point. Remember all singers in bands have started from the bottom playing to the smallest of crowds. For Chris to start something he's never done before in front of thousands of fans who expect a performance that lives up to Muse's standards takes massive balls in my view.
Chris's voice IS special! And I will argue with everyone who states otherwise. His voice has this rare 80sh Simon&Garfunkel-ish quality that a lot of singers don't have nowadays. It it special, I absolutley ADORE it, and I hope that we will hear it more!
I guess I'm not the only one who had been expecting this for a long time, just hearing Chris being the lead and not the backing vocals. He has an amazing voice and is very talented, just like the other two. It's an amazing band, formed by amazing people.
My favourite part of the video is how Matt Bellamy, born front man, is stood at the back just chilling, not getting in Chris' light. That's a friend and a true bandmate right there!
Bass Players always come up with these great emotional songs like this. Thinking of 'Your Own Special Way' - Mike Rutherford and 'Onwards' - Chris Squire
Chris in his own words was a "raging alcoholic", so this song talks about his struggle with it and the affect it had on his family. This song as well as liquid state.
Abby Maruri Save Me is more about his family in general and how they help him through everything, like his absence from them etc. rather than just the alcohol, although alcoholism is taken as a given in the song. It's saying he's not perfect and he makes mistakes and they're always there. Liquid State deals more specifically with the different negative effects of alcohol.
dude look at the dislikes, what do you mean with they dont like it? We all know that Muse isnt just only Bellamy. Their all 3 some really talented people.
This song seriously reminds me of a movie that might have the similar tune. But i just can't grasp what movie it is... but congrats Chris. You have nice vocals.
I don't get WHY MUSERS don't like this !!! It sounds really good ! Even if Chris hasn't got a "special voice" like Bellamy, his singing is really good (low and high) and he is talented !
I am quite interested in hearing more of Chris on lead. Or, what I think would be cool, songs where Matt and Chris share lyrics equally, maybe back and forth, or chorus vs verse or something like that. Chris sang the chorus of Hyper Music at Reading in 2011 (I think). It was pretty cool to see them alternating.
That's through a vocoder though. He's terribly off key when he's singing seriously. They attempted to record Blackout with his vocals but scrapped it since he's so bad.
A Yorkshire lad from Rotherham ... hope he is happy with his new wife and baby, and his other children. Very much talented as Dom and Matt. His bass guitar is the basis of the underlying synth sound ... a big overall part of their sound!
While performing Blackout (which called for vocals from all three members) in a recording studio, it was revealed that Dom has an inability to sing. He is still awesome, though.
I agree with you, ashley. come on man, you can't give in now! you've got an amazing voice! and this is great! hopefully you'll do this one when i see you guys on 27 oct at O2 arena london!

One of my friends died of alcohol related problems and I miss her very much. She was a talented pianist.
One of the worlds GREATEST bands
@@mop714may her soul rest in peace 🙏🏽💜
such a very surreal, mystical song... sadly very underrated...
The vulnerability and stress in Chris's voice actually matches this song perfectly and brings with it an honesty that is absolutely contagious. This song is simply proof of Muse's versatility and musical prowess.
I'm glad Matt gave Chris the lead on this one. Fantastic voice. Fantastic song
Aidan Cooper and liquid state
well, actually chris wrote the songs and matt insisted him to sing them
Renzo Sánchez I know. and I'm so glad he did
Liquid state is an incredibly underrated song!
B Benson liquid state was a good song, so sad to see one of my fave musicians suffering from alcoholism. glad he got himself straight.
Chris's voice is so sweet and smooth. Almost..comforting.
Very different to Matt’s voice, but still incredible! Wish he sang lead more often tbh
@@cherua9392same
It IS straight up comforting and soothing
Still the same MUSE, proves that Muse is 'them' and not 'him'
I was thinking about that as well while watching this. No egos here, just a band of equals. These guys' longtime friendship really shows in moments like this, and I love that ;).
Chris Wolfenhowlingbeast should be writing more for Muse. This is sublime and was a welcome on that record.
Chriscastle Wolfensteinholme
Wolstenbeast!
It's also REALLY cool of Matt to back out of the spotlight so much on this song, as much of an amazing showman as he is. Good for everyone.
CaptainAwk I do like that.
Thought the same thing! He's like "don't look at me, this one is he's"
I always listen to this before going to sleep. I'm addicted to Chris' voice.
If I ever have a proper band, I'd sing this as an tribute.
Make dem dreams come true!
@@GregJonsonyes!!!
Man, he sings with his heart. It gaves me chills.
Me too!!!

Chris is seriously the perfect man.
Chris is really an excellent singer. His voice is perfect.

Domonic has the coolest drumming style, Every other measure is a cool fill. Chris is the man, I`ve been wanting to hear him for a while.
I'm taken aback by how well Chris can sing. He's extremely talented and should sing more. Save Me is such a beautiful song!

As a massive Muse fan who's recoving from alcoholism, I can relate to this.
I hope you're doing okay
@@cr1s1s0ff41th Cheers pal. Six months sober this Saturday
@@thomasnoctor3602 I don't know you but I'm proud of you. That's how you do it! My dad was an alcoholic but he's done with that as well

I cried to this video. Such a magnificent thing to see Chris singing and Matt in the back enjoying his guitar.

This song, this voice...
Knowing what this song is about makes it mean so much more. beautiful
what is it about?

Wonderful song, dedicated to my daughter. I miss you my little love. You're the one who can save me.
Poor thing :( he’s been through a lot to write this song and he sound nervous at the beginning :(
I am so happy for Chris, this is such a huge comeback, and he sings so well. Way to be Chris, you are a winner.
This is actually my favorite Muse song ever.. cuz of the lyrics and how relatable they are..
Oh my gooooooddddd I just found this song! Chris is so good at singing!!!!
Beautiful. Chris's singing is even lovelier here than on the record... it's nice to see and hear him singing lead and Matt step back.
This song is so beautiful.
Can't imagine why anyone would compare MUSE albums. The Resistance was BRILLIANT as was everything including and after Origin of Symmetry.
One of my favorites from this album.
Chris has an an amazing voice. Love this song
Loved it...very brave of Chris...Cheers for him !!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CHRIS!!! We love you! Promise not to fade away, never fade away. 💖💖💖
one of the most beautiful songs ever made.
I was looking for perfection. I think i can stop now...
Both Matt and Chris sing like their lives depend on it. ❤
My favorite tune off this album and a top 5 Muse tune overall for me.
this song plus the color green=chills. don't know why. just does.
Honestly man, it's probably my favorite track of the album, I love it.
simply beautiful
Unbelievable. I love this. I always thought Chris should sing more. Wonderful song.
I knew that this sweet voice was from Chris. and this song is one of my favorite, it always makes me cry. Love it!
Amazing song, great album
His voice is beautiful and with the extra lower toned voices behind it its perfect!!!
My favorite Muse song. Very hopeful. One that really resonates with me deeply
The best album!!
so magical and sweet Chris's voice...an emotional song just to my heart
Amo la voz de Chris!!
Chris's voice really moves me, amazing!
I‘m not crying, you are 😭
I really hoped that there would be other Chris songs on Drones, but nope... so I hope for next album
Oh my gosh this is such an awesome performance!
I like this song, it reminds something i can't catch. It relaxes me.

It's nice to hear Chris sing a song for once :)
we need a song where dom is lead plEASE
It would sound like this: Agdukfiqolgprovkekjwkgktlwlglwññforldjc
he makes back vocal at The Globalist, so I think he can sing a song :d
That's through a vocoder though. He's terribly off key when he's singing seriously. They attempted to record Blackout with his vocals but scrapped it since he's so bad.
