The free version will just allow you to build words, names, and monograms with bx fonts. Then you can save what you create as an embroidery file. If you have that functionality, it’s working fine. If that doesn’t work, then I would embrilliance support.
Do you know why you can resize, curve, space, etc., some bx fonts in Emrilliance Express, but others are set to a certain size? Is there something specific to look for when purchasing a font?
Some fonts are non-native BX fonts meaning that they were made in a program other than Embrilliance and converted to BX. These have fewer capabilities than the native BX fonts.

I couldn’t get the free version of embrillance essentials to work on my pc. Most everything was greyed out.

Yes - that is just dependent on the font itself. Some include lowercase some dont.
