I now own this particular boat thanks to this video. Thanks Nick! Very happy with it - perfect for river cruising, get 12 hours at river speeds, the silence is lovely and the roof makes life easy. Am looking into getting solar fitted. Named her “Electric Dreams”!
This is a lovely boat. It looks good, and for most of your day trips the electric motors should give enough range. I would love to see a diesel range-extender (just a generator, providing enough power for, say, 3ktn consistantly) option though. That would make it more versitile for multiple days cruising up a river for instance. And I think would be nice to eliminate range anxiety for longer day trips. Some solar panels on that hydrolic roof might also be a neat idea. If you live in a sunny climate and go out on it maybe one day a week that would mean jou might not have to plug it in at all.
Hi Nias, I’m the Broker for the UK for the thr Alfastreet Brand, this model is available as a hybrid with an onboard generator along with solar panels on the roof. Do get in contact should you wish to know more. Joe@boatshowrooms.com
Hi Nick. Innovation and technology. Electric is the way forward. Whats not to like about this. Nothing. I can even hear the Thunderbirds tune as the hardtop lowered. Solar panels on the roof with added batteries would make for longer cruising. I really enjoyed watching this and as usual a great walkthrough video thanks.
I thought the same thing with regards to solar panels on the roof, as long as they are lightweight then surely it would be a large enough area to generate some meaningful power.
If the "canopy" was enlarged to cover the entire back, you could get a lot of solar on it! Meaning you could charge lot more batteries. And before people ask about covering the sunbed, how baked do you want to get? Here in Spain, I guess 10 minutes tops. I'd rather have solar.
@@Guiboo59000 It does! Check out their website. In a couple of photos you can see that the aft portion of the top slides up and forward to open up the central seating/dining area.
Hi Oliver, there is a small cover that covers the rear sun pad which has 3 poppers and 2 elastic hooks to attach so it’s really simple. I’m the UK dealer for the brand, I hope you like the boat. Joe from Boat Showrooms

Lovely day boat. Perfect setup for a river boat, or running around a lake. Add a generator, and shed make a fun coastal cruiser. Lovely. Aquaholic, bringing us the future, today.
Now here is a boat for me...I'm in London, no not that London- the other London, in Ontario, in Canada. Getting to the ocean not going to happen for me however I'm about 30 minutes from Lake Erie, 45 minutes from Lake Huron ( the great lakes- that have excellent beaches), if this would be a perfect boat for me-very little work, a place to lay out, a place to go to the bathroom, a place to do a little cooking and if I get tired I can have a nap. I'm really surprised how much I like this little boat.
Hi Cathy, I’m pleased you like the boat, I’m the UK dealer for the brand, do let me know should you wish to come and see the boat in the flesh. It’s a real head turner. Joe@boatshowrooms.com
Lowering Canopy is a great idea for protecting fly bridges , as for all electric ..hmm... if the batteries run flat you could find yourself a long way from ohm .. ;-)
Fully agree, I live near a big river in a (somewhat) big city, and I really believe that for rivers in populated areas, electrical is the future for dayboat powerboating. I work for a company that actually is currently building the charging infrastructure in our country, and I have repeatedly been annoying my e-mobility colleagues with the idea to have a charger or two for boats somewhere near the city centre
I've always thought the electric river boat seemed feasible. That roof is BEGGING for some solar panels though - considering most boats sit out not being used for days at a time, it would probably charge itself for free ready for the next weekend. The roof mechanism is very clever, and I imagine could make it very usable in mildly naff weather. Very cool!

Very, very cute little boat, and the range is actually not bad at all for its size. And probably enough for most day trips and the well-planned over-nighter. And the "party trick" is pretty nice. Thanks again, Nick! Great vid, as always.

When i saw the title i thought i would not like it but i think this is great. Decent price, looks sleek and the top coming down has got to be a really cool party trick. If they do one with a range extender i think this one would be a winner. Great video as always nick
Superb boat, and I'm sure the battery and motor technology will continue to improve with range and speeds increasing all the time. Fewer moving parts makes for great reliability. Adding solar panels will come too. Excellent work Nick, as per.
Great little boat and it would certainly fit on the Norfolk Broads very nicely, although you'd need to be able to drop that roof half way to get under some of the bridges! I can imagine the twin petrol is a brilliant day boat for cove hopping on the south coast too. Thanks for the tour.
Pop some solar panels on to the telescopic roof and it can recharge itself while the owner is off to work during the week. I love ingenuity like this. Stunning little boat.
They missed a trick by putting solar on the roof to increase range I know it won’t charge as you use it but when you stop for lunch in a bay ( or if you tie up somewhere along the river outside a marina ) n a sunny day it could top up your batteries on the pure electric version Otherwise it’s a fantastic little boat and I think slowly electric boats are going to become a more common sight on inland waterways and as technology improves maybe in coastal waters as well.
Hi Nicky, I’m the UK agent for these boats and I just wanted to say the Solar Panels are an option to have installed should you wish to increase the range. The boat with its maximum battery capacity will offer you 12hrs of cruising should you need it but the solar panels will put some charge back in should you stop overnight somewhere without power. Hope you like the boat, Joe from Boat Showrooms
I can see this particular model being popular as a day boat on somewhere like Windermere, since with its top speed and its cruising speed, it would be impossible to exceed the lake speed limits (the Windermere Lake authority would have to find some other form of revenue if there were a few of these around!)
Hey Nick another brilliant and quirky boat but just a tad out of my budget and I love the telescopic roof idea it's perfect and so easy, thanks for sharing bud and have a good one
For quite some time now I've had the idea of a retractable/folding roof on flybridge yachts to lower the height and cover everything. Nice to see it finally become reality, although it's on a small boat with straight down pistons. Hopefully this will become more common on all size yachts 🙂
Wow a great short but sweet tour or an electric boat the first I’ve seen and again a great tour loved the end when it just lock up so easy. As alway keep up the good work can’t wait for next one as we in Ireland are an lock down and it good to see your tour pop up as there only so much Netflix you can watch

I want to see bigger yachts again. After long time we got to see X95 and back to smaller boats. Though smaller yachts are cheaper and more practical but there is a certain touch that superyachts bring into yachts and we really do enjoy big yachts with your video tour voice in it 👍.
Couldn’t agree more, however foreign travel is extremely difficult at the moment so for the moment I’m stuck in the UK, where there are few superyachts.
Electric propulsion for river boats makes so much sense, especially now that battery tech and charging infrastructure is developing in the right direction. My dad (who lives in Holland) bought an electric boat more than 10 years ago, had it custom build because there was nothing in the market. The boat builder had no idea what he was doing though. The range was just awful and he ended up switching the engine to gasoline again, just to be able to actually go somewhere. Seems like he had his idea too early.
I think there's enough room for a little petrol engine. It would be a nice insurance if you run out of electric juice, being able to top up on the fly.
I agree, I'd rather have the hybrid capability, and no worries about the electric. I would bet they can deck this boat out however you like, petrol engine, solar panels, generator, etc.
Hi Lukanda, This model is available with an onboard generator to act as a hybrid, you can also spec the boat with onboard solar panels which will add to the charging capacity.
05:13 Maggie is no Muggle... that's how. I saw the trick coming because I've seen it on others and could tell by the rams holding it up. With twin gassers - I love nearly everything about it's layout... I would leave the cabin and just add sun pads to the bow just as it is. Great tour as always - even if I am now WEEKS behind on my viewing (for good reason as the new job keeps me too busy to bother - for better or worse). 👍
Very cool looking boat. I really want one of those. Easy to tuck away when the weather is lousy, and equally easy to jump into and go island touring here in Lofoten. The top speed is quite enough for those trips or to do a little fishing, or to pop into a beach in the summertime. Electrisity is cheap here, so the fuel cost is minimal, and 8 hour travel time is plenty for me. Could even bring a generator for emergencies, if we ran out of juice. Yes, absolutely a boat for me.
Nick! This one is BRILLIANT! Of course this particular craft is made for a very specific purpose but it fills the niche perfectly. Also, as always, you are amazing!
Hi, A WELL thought out boat and silent , but a diesel for sea coast cruising for me .It looks to be finished off very well ,another interesting walk round ,thanks Nick
Love it! This is the future, quite, environmentally friendly and once they figure better battery efficiency out together with solar tech, this will have barely competition since it is nearly maintenance free as well. 👍
has potential to extend the cockpit roof aft to the transom and fully cover with solar panels for what looks like up to 1.5kw to 2kw of solar generation
Great little video of a new wave (forgive the pun) of electric boats. Can imagine having a little emergency generator alongside a raft (another pun, sorry) of batteries in case you run out of stored juice! A taste of things to come. Great roof solution too. If only it would be strong enough for a fly bridge 🤔
8 kts? Double the speed at Cruise 20ish for top. Maintain the 8+ hour run time (looks like plenty of space for additional batteries throughout boat) and add solar panels on that snazzy retractable top and I am in. PS can rear deck submerge into the water and/or accommodate a jetski? This boat is SOOOOOO close to perfection.
Awesome boat! Ultimately I would prefer a hybrid version so you could switch between diesel drive or electric drive. Brilliant vessel anyway. Thanks for showing it too us.
The Maritime Museum here on the Hudson River in Kingston NY has an electric ferry boat that holds about 20 people and recharges from roof panels. It can go all day and night. No shore power required. Definitely the way to go for rivers and lakes. BTW the Hudson here is an estuary (100 miles North of NYC) and current can get to 6 knots, both ways. Before steam, the Hudson River sloops 'tided' up and down the river if the winds did not cooperate.
River Thames can reach six knots but this only reaches 8 knots ... going against the tide it would take an hour to travel 2.3 miles, and thats on a calm day. I'm not sure this is suitable for the busier sections of the Thames.
With the hull size and space under the rear deck, I would like to option a cabin under the cockpit floor, like SB2 or the Falcon 22/23/27’s.... and as another comment, I would still need to enclose the aft sun pad. Another issue I may not have noticed, if you close up whilst moored and sleeping onboard, is there a Houdini hatch to vacate the cabin in an emergency ?? Notwithstanding, I love the concept. I always wanted a twin screw diesel, around 40ft, separate aft cabin and a centre line wing electric folding screw for pottering....🙂 Lotto ☑️
Nice little boat for inland summer fun, Love the roof option that would have to be a must, Id add some solar panels to the roof and then no need to plug in in the summer.
A full day of english sun will probably get you one hour per day of motoring. maybe. It might be enough to power your life support needs, but not propulsion. Need shore power or a generator/motor if you plan on motoring daily. Can you empty the battery on a weekend, and have a full charge by the next weekend with only solar?
While many won't like it, that will be the future. Although it'll more likely be fuel-cell enabled instead of battery powered, and eventually boats will use solar/wind to separate hydrogen from the water and compress it themselves, but electric it will all be. This, along with Silent Yachts, is a wonderful step in the right direction.
I now own this particular boat thanks to this video. Thanks Nick! Very happy with it - perfect for river cruising, get 12 hours at river speeds, the silence is lovely and the roof makes life easy. Am looking into getting solar fitted. Named her “Electric Dreams”!

Maybe LPG instead of diesel. With longer range you'd want cooking and hot water, so why not run a generator off the gas bottles as well...
Some great ideas for my new boat- I'm dreaming again.

That’s very cool, an electric boat.
Nice showing as usual
Very interesting. Great river boat I think.
River Thames can reach six knots but this only reaches 8 knots ... going
against the tide it would take an hour to travel 2.3 miles, and thats
on a calm day.
I'm not sure this is suitable for the busier sections of the Thames.
There are other rivers.
upsteam of teddington lock, a lot less current
Non tidal Thames I think is what Nick meant
I had two 2.5 diesels but would time my trips to Go With the Flow.
Exactly what I was looking for in a comment. A waste of space and also no self-loading. Otherwise nice basis.
It’s absolutely beautiful
The roof cover is very clever and very cool, also handy for going under canal bridges... ?
Nice little boat for inland summer fun, Love the roof option that would have to be a must, Id add some solar panels to the roof and then no need to plug in in the summer.
A full day of english sun will probably get you one hour per day of motoring. maybe. It might be enough to power your life support needs, but not propulsion. Need shore power or a generator/motor if you plan on motoring daily. Can you empty the battery on a weekend, and have a full charge by the next weekend with only solar?
@@scottstewart5784 oh that is a shame 😕
While many won't like it, that will be the future. Although it'll more likely be fuel-cell enabled instead of battery powered, and eventually boats will use solar/wind to separate hydrogen from the water and compress it themselves, but electric it will all be. This, along with Silent Yachts, is a wonderful step in the right direction.
