This is the kind of stuff Discovery channel and the like used to put out before everything was reality/fake TV. Parachutes are pretty damn complex and amazing. This is a quality piece of work and the hours and detail you put into it show. Nice job! Can't wait for Wednesday.

When I was stationed in Korea I ordered a new main canopy from the US. When it arrived the box was stamped on all sides, in big red letters "EMERGENCY ALTITUDE DECELERATOR". Thought this was a strange thing to call a parachute. But later found out that if you are shipping emergency/life saving equipment you got a break on postage. So this is what it was called so as to get this break. Thought is was a bit funny. Just my $0.02

I love the thrill and anticipation of chutes opening, gracefully, and majestically slow a large massive capsule to a safe gentle landing. To me, watching chutes open and slow the Gemini and Apollo capsules to a safe splashdown after a challenging mission, aggressive violent re-entry - is like saluting the men and women for a Mission well done. Please, please continue this series on the importance, technical needs of large parachutes! Thanks for sharing.

Great video! As a child of Apollo, I was fascinated with all things space travel, but I was especially fascinated with parachutes. Every trip to the library yielded a haul of whatever books mentioned parachutes - spacecraft, smoke jumpers, paratroopers, skydivers, whatever. When my mother mentioned that she had an uncle who had been a paratrooper, I couldn’t wait to talk to him and get all my questions answered. He was very patient with me. :D This video really cleared up a lot of remaining questions for me!
