- Following votes on the Previous Question and the Rule, House Representatives vote to table (kill) the Privileged Resolution to Declare the Office of the Speaker Vacant. If the vote to table (kill) is defeated, the House will then have an hour of debates followed by a vote on the motion to vacate. A simple majority is required to remove the speaker.

@@OverdriveGamesAnimeGaetz never made concessions to democrats to get their vote like McCarthy did. It also benefits democrats to vote in solidarity against any Republican so they can campaign on it. They'd prefer McCarthy but would hurt them in the long run if they voted to keep him because an incumbent could campaign that they voted for a Republican speaker.
The Republican counter arguments to keep McCarthy were weak. Any speaker could achieve what they mentioned with a simple majority. Gaetz issues was that McCarthy did not properly use leverage to make fiscally responsible decisions and has only compounded our countries debt more. McCarthy also made concessions to become speaker and failed to honor them and has continued the traditional omnibus bill spending.
People may not like Gaetz but if you want real change from the uniparty system then this is a great start. This also keeps future speakers from both parties on their toes to honor their commitments to their party members and constituents. Many deals were made and not followed plain and simple.
There is clearly a disconnect between voters and superpac money. That's what you saw here in a lot of ways.
If only we could get rid of McConnell and McDaniel now ….

If he is unpopular, why do you find him to be suitable for the position if those who he is supposed to lead do not respect and / or believe him? If anything, I think this would make him the opposite of a good leader. I don't have any more information than what's provided through third parties, but if promises were broke and deals were being made behind closed doors from other representatives, it sounds a little off from what the speaker of the house is allowed to do. This would also null the notion that he knows his job.

Investment in infrastructure and modernisation which creates jobs and the policies of reducing medical cost is hardly out of control spending. The democrats are doing things to help make decent lives for ordinary people, the Republicans only care for the rich by reducing their taxes! A country like the USA should NOT live in fear of illness and medical costs!!

@@iMatti00 A vote was taken in the House by different measures. State's in 2020 sent out mail ballots to who the heck knows because of Covid. We also have voting machines hooked up to the internet. Massive amounts of votes cast in various degrees of FRAUD. I counted by hand our county's election in 2022. Most everyone can count. There are measures to count securely too.

Kevin had 9 months to do his job correctly and only severed to extend the omnibus bills loaded with pork that have been so devastating to the nation’s finances. Hopefully this new chapter will see bills considered in singular fashion so the $100,000 dollar park bench projects become a thing of the past. This will trim the budget, then there is the fact this kind of bill consideration will slow new capital burn which will also help the deficit. This has been long in coming. I hope it works for some time to come.
