@@AlexGarciaTheOneyou don't have to imagine it, this is reality 😂 I still love fighting Paul though. Just can't be mad, even when I get lit up for 70% I'm not mad I'm just like damn... Paul is strong 😂
Same. As a hardcore Capcom/SNK player, I never wanted to play Tekken until my best friend showed me Paul and Nina in Tekken 3. I was hoping wall splats wouldn't be the whole strategy in this game but still looking forward to playing more.
@@randomguitarnote8887 That's dedication. I actually tried to pick him up in T2 but my boy would always hit me with every string Nina had and made me hate the whole franchise lol. Tekken 3 was an unavoidable must-buy when it came out, however.
No cap for a beginner to 3d fighters (haven’t played a 3d fighter since Tekken 2), Paul by a mile has the easiest move set, even more so than Asuka. He’s more damaging, shorter inputs, more threatening at a closer range. In this type of game, it feels you’re always in close range compared to SF, so his style seems really prevalent.
Paul is always precision. I did win some local tourneys with Paul (Tekken 3 tho) because I landed those sweet sweet neural overloading activation of Death Fist counter hits.
Paul has been my dude since 96. However, in T8, most characters now have strings that are 4 or 5 hits that usually end in plus frames, and so now if you want to main paul you have to be really good at tekken. All of what TMMswd is saying is good for beginners, but once you start climbing the ranks, you won't fight another paul ever again. Lol
Yeah it's like mainman said at the end it's not fun relying on single hits when everyone's mashing in your face. Even Paul's df 1 is slower than normal lol
Heres one: Paul is surprisingly mobile for a heavy character. He may have good fake out tools and hits like a truck, but he can still be punched hard. For example his most useful tool the burning fist, is VERY punishable, but nobody really notices. Sometimes it depends on spacing but most of the time you could hit him with a fast and simple launcher to punish. The second thing is demo man. You gotta recognize the animation for it. Maybe practice against a Paul ghost or cpu of an expert player. Second thing is to be patient. Paul may have power but he’s also got some tricks up his sleeve, rushing in when you think he’s open is hard unless you recognize what his moves are and know what he’s going to do next. Like I said, I highly suggest playing against a Paul players ghost for this.
I haven't played a Tekken since 3 (lil bit of tag), but Paul was my guy and I'm really trying to get good with him and your videos (not only this one) has been immensely helpful!
I think he meant just heat overall. I agree though, kings heat smash is the best. I main king and picked up Paul, but Paul's is up there, probably top 5
@@ihatethisgame6827 top 5 is dj, jin jun, azu, drag, reina and victor followed by brian, paul still has the same weaknesses as in t7 and arguably the worst heatsmash in the game. Deathfist is the only viable heat move when you are not at the wall.
NGL this is just an `okay` tutorial. There are no inputs on screen, no names described for the moves provided in the second half of the video, and for a beginner the explanations and moves used are confusion.
It's just an 8 min guide meant to be an overview of the gameplan and notable moves. It's good to familiarize yourself with the move list first then you'll have a better understanding of the guide.
Anybody using Paul is more than capable of comprehending the moves used. For beginners not so much but that's why you go to an actual tutorial for beginners
For any advice to be real I need to see them play ranked…. I need to know what move they’re dying to throw out in neutral Don’t just tell me a list of stuff I wanna see what hits they’re desperate to squeeze in and what they do when pressured Just watch TMM ranked I seen him use a lot of sway into heat engaging 2 button
Please add the command inputs on screen, because in some cases it is difficult to hear what exactly are you telling. For example "downforward two" is not clearly heard.
People say Asuka is the easiest character, I don’t agree. I’m a long time SF player (haven’t played Tekken since Tekken 2 when I was 10). Coming to a 3d fighter, I def think Paul is easier and more effective. His juggles are way less inputs, he can fight at a closer range, he does more damage, his heat is stronger.
I would say yes and no. He has some moves from heihachi and you could say he is the same 'type' being a powerhouse. But he's also a Mishima and they pretty much have a destinct playstyle. I must say, he's up there with best Heihachi replacements. My Paul also has a Heihachi costume which look pretty cool.
Learn Paul’s long high damaging combos. All you have to do is be patient. If you punish a wiff once or punish with a launcher, start your combo and you’ll wipe out more than half their hp in one combo. With Paul you have to make people pay for what ever mistake they make. Once they understand they can’t make mistakes with you because the cost is so high, they will chill out on the spamming I promise you. This is when you can now comfortably apply pressure. Remember, 2 decent Paul combos will kill anyone.
Heyy Paul main here, which string are you talking about? I could help you with those :). Also, you can check the sample combos in the movelist to find out the usual strings used in a combo. Have fun!
