    What is that mother's problem? She's paying what she's willing to pay and her grown daughter (with her own money) is willing to put in HER money to buy something she wants. The mother needs to support her daughter.

    The consultant had no business showing the first dress to the mother, just because it was inexpensive. The bride is the client.

    • @catladyfromky4142

      I disagree. I think the consultant wanted to shut the mom up about trying to keep the budget at £500. She showed her the dress that is on sale and has lower quality and does t even look good. She wanted her to stop talking about the budget and allow her daughter to drive the appointment.
      That is often why the consultant puts the bride in the mom's choice first. Get her out of the way, then the bride can try on what she wants. It is part of the overall plan to keep the energy on the bride.

      That’s what I did with my girls and it worked out great. One daughter chose to not spend another penny on her dress than what I contributed, the other spent about three times as much but sincerely appreciated what help I gave, which is the attitude I feel this bride had.

      i only spent $125 on my dress and it was identical to one i saw in a salon for $900. there's whole chains of bridal stores here that have dresses for $100, hell there are charity shops in the UK that are selling VINTAGE designer wedding gowns for £60. the places on this show are just absurdly overpriced.

      What a nasty mom. Clearly she cares nothing about her daughter's feelings or how she looks. The cost of that dress is not outrageous. All she cares about is getting something cheap she can brag about. 😢

      Her attitude was less than great, but the ethic of not overspending is smart. A wedding gown will be worn for a few hours on a single day. I absolutely cannot understand brides/entourages who are all about "being unique" or "the wow factor." When I shopped for my gown, there was no concept of this or "the feeling." I found a dress that I liked - period.

    • @catladyfromky4142
      @catladyfromky4142 2 часа назад

      @BasicYTHandle I totally agree. That "wow" factor is, to me, something that sounds better than it really is. No one remembers the bride's dress even a week after the wedding. To overspend so that your dress can be impressive for such a minimum amount of time is ridiculous.
      The reality is that no one will care what the bride's wedding dress looks like other than the bride herself. Even the groom doesn't care if there's enough sparkle.
      For me, I want to get the silhouette right. I want it to be comfortable. And I want to like looking at it in pictures for the rest of my life. That is all.

  • @BasicYTHandle
    @BasicYTHandle 5 часов назад +20

    If the priority was a low budget, they shouldn't be shopping at this store nor on SYTTD at all - which is about designer/couture dresses. Instead, go to a "regular" bridal shop with off-the-rack gowns or, better yet, try discount bridal stores (such as David's Bridal in the U.S.), thrift stores, consignment stores, online (but be careful) or even consider renting a gown.

    People always complain about brides only liking a dress because it’s expensive. I personally think it’s worse when you only like a dress because it’s cheap. Just because it’s cheap doesn’t mean it’s good, or the best option. The cheapest option is usually the worst option. Cheap or Good. Pick one.

    I can see looking at sale stock pieces to start and then the regular instock gowns. But the only way the mom would find a $500 dress is to go shop in a vintage bridal store or rent a dress.

    Mom is awful. £1700 is not that bad!!! If you watch Say Yes to the Dress, they rarely even have anything under $2000!! Maybe a leftover in the back room like that £500 dress. I bought a cream tea-length dress at a Dept store for sbout $100 when I got married!!!! 😂😂😂

      In a way, I agree with you. It is not the mom's choice in what the bride pays for. But, like you wrote about your cheap dress being appropriate for you and good enough for a wedding, the mom was trying to keep the bride from breaking the bank when it doesn't have to.

    I think the mother should wear an every day dress and humiliate herself at the wedding 👏🏻👏🏻. This is the bride’s day and no mom should even THINK of putting her daughter in a cheap dress! The bride has years of looking at her wedding pictures and hating that $500 dress. Prom dresses can cost $500! By the way, Mom doesn’t look like she’s dressed in rags. That mom better fork out the money NOW!

      Stop projecting. If that was your family, awesome. But you don't know any of these people. You just embarrass yourself by writing a thesis with diagnoses and back stories. Why don't you just go off an write your own novel instead?

      Admittedly, it'll be ordered in her size and altered to be less tight. BUT: SHAME ON THE CONSULTANT for even pulling a dress so far over the TOP of the budget, ESPECIALLY when she was well aware that budget was a MAJOR FACTOR. There are hundreds of gowns in that shop, among which were certainly many that fit the criteria & were within budget.
