Heh! I was watching this video and your little VCLT package "dropped in" through my letterbox. Great timing! I guess it's video time later today. My favourite female singer of all time is easy one to name and it's Kim Wilde. The loveliest voice goes to Alexia and then comes Natalie Merchant. I've never really thought about putting the rest of my favourite female singers in any particular order. Karen Carpenter was also a blöödy gööd drummer! Too bad that she died so young. You got really lovely female singers on your list. Kirsty's voice 👉 🕶️👌 I think I'm gonna listen to some female singers later today, Jarkko/MyVinylBar
I am very surprised you got the vclt already, i thought it would take until next week. I do not know who Alexia is and Natalie was one that i had to leave out. Karen does not represent the kind of drummers i like, but i guess in her style she was good. Pasi
Originally Dusty was going to be the #1, but as soon as i actually started thinking about who's going to be on what place it was obvious Kirsty had no real threat at number 1. I hadn't thought of this list in terms of who represented what music style, but i guess 4 (or 5 if you count Bobbie Gentry) is many within 12. Pasi
Mamas and papas were great. California dreaming was a perfect pop song. I still find Janis Joplin a tough listen. Emmylou Harris had a beautiful voice. The Lp she did with Dolly and Rondstat is excellent. Great harmonies. Ann Wilson is my favourite female vocalist. Such power. Cheers Pasi, Chris
Have you heard Farther Along the double LP of Emmylou, Ronstadt and Parton? Heart was one who got left off my list. Ann sure has a great voice. I have some of the latter part career albums from Heart and she still got it. Sometimes i love a pure clean voice like Alison Krauss, another time something ripping with a whole lot of character like Janis. Pasi
I've been looking for a copy of Lady Soul for 30 years and have still never laid eyes on a copy. I enjoyed the analysis of the Mamas & Papas harmonies! I used to have an LP best-of but I think I've lost it as I don't recall seeing it on the shelves for many years. I must admit I've never been tempted to listen to The Carpenters but I know I should give them a go. Suzanne Vega is an artist I've really grown to like in the last few years, and now have her first three albums on vinyl. Sandy Denny is another artist I've never listened to, apart from the Zep track. I have that Emmylou album and I really like it. Got a best-of for Bobby Gentry, brilliant. Haven't heard much Nancy Griffith but I like her surname.Great choice for 1 and 2. Cheers!
I bought that Lady Soul copy in my early years of cd buying. Hard to say if Carpenters is musically something you would enjoy, but i hope you give some track a listen just hear Karen singing, it's worth it. Vega changed her style after the first three albums in to a bit more fuller (band)sound. 99.9F is fine, but i think her following two albums were much better. With Sandy i recommend starting with either Sandy or Like An Old Fashioned Waltz or just have a listen to song Solo. With a last name just short of perfect, her music may just be as close to perfect. Pasi
Mielenkiintoinen lista. Itse koetan välttää ilmaisuja naislaulaja/female fronted jne... Kokonaisuus on mikä ratkaisee ja nykyää 50%+ bändejö joita kuuntelen jäseniä molemmista sukupuolista. Ehkä naisartisti ilmaisu toimisi kotimaisessa iskelmä skenessä ja sitten Madonna ja vastaavat. Kiva.
Pasi

Good video Pasi. I obviously knew who your no. 1 choice would be but was a pleasantly surprised to see the amount of country artists in your list.

Carpenters worth listening to just for the guitar in Goodbye to love
