    The way I see it is this is a man working hard and paying his taxes, but it isn't without reward. He is making "money" and lots of it. So much so that he lets it spill over, not caring if the currency makes it into the savings account or just falls over the edge. He has so much he doesn't know what to do with it, yet he still shows up and works for more. Then he sees someone in need again and decides to help out, because why not? This 'person' shows him how little this greed and monotonous lifestyle matters. She shows him nature, the world, color - a life without grind and corporate servitude. Once he sees that, he can't return. He's forever vanished into that world and is probably happy and wishing he never was away from it.

    If people only knew what it took to do what you do. I know you do music along with film. You didn't just make a beautiful thing or a strong narrative or a complex abstraction--you also scored it WONDERFULLY. Composer to composer, well done. Great great work.

    Probably not the meaning of the film but what I got from it is actually how meaningless life can be. Like we can be working our asses off all day, then sleep then repeat. And what are we really working our asses off for? Just paper, like this guy is working his ass off for buttons, something worthless but we gave it value. The suit to me represents that even if your life is shit you better make it look like its good, you better look presentable. Again, probably not the meaning (because my explanation has nothing to do with unity/Henosis) but I like how films like these make you think and give every viewer a different experience and different meaning. Cool.

    I think this video was politically symbolic. it tells the story from both sides. it shows the guy working his ass off just to give it all back, while keeping little for himself. It's the American "dream" while the air quality is intolerable and industry has faded.

    Wow! Congratulations, this is your top work at the moment, in my opinion! You have created a perfect atmosphere, stunning visuals, sounds... It's like a Tarsem Singh piece, I love it!
    I imagine however that the greatness of the work does not come from the sensor resolution and I am sure you could have done it with a 4K camera :)

  • @jambred
    @jambred 8 лет назад +1

    Absolutely love this piece. Well my interpretation of it at least. In a nutshell I think the working man (average American), who is a slave to the cooperation busts his ass for the corporation which is raping the country, hence the desolate, destitute land. He works and works and gives his all to the corporation which gives him barely anything back in return while the nation suffers and is dying. Then one day he starts giving back to the nation instead...first a little...he sees some change....then alot, he see's alot of change. The nation is nourished and then blossoms (gorgeous shot in the green forest) ...and he is finally free (end shot with his gas mask on the ground and freedom in the background)
    Technical wise I think those sigma art lenses are way 2 sharp on the 8k sensor....the kowa shots looks much better to me. Those sigmas need some serious diffusion. Anyway great piece...Great work. Luke and Marika!

    The metaphors in this confused me. Perhaps I'm being too literal but, if the items (buttons, etc.) are valuable, as they seem to be, then why let them bounce off the desk or miss going into the bottle?
    (I guess it needed to be a bit more buttoned down. :)

    Nice video. I think the higher resolutions you go the more diminishing returns. At normal viewing distance on my 30" 4K monitor, I don't see a really discernible difference between 4K and 8K (ever so slightly sharper and more details maybe). On my 1080p monitor, I see a big difference between 1080p and 1440p / 4K though (with 8K looking basically the same as 4K but not at smooth with slower playback).

  • @gregkrazanski
    @gregkrazanski 8 лет назад

    wow this is technically one of the most gorgeous things i've ever seen or heard. parts kinda remind me of "the fall". Only thing I didn't really understand was that if the buttons represented some precious resource like time/money, why was "the Man" so careless with dumping them all over the table with half of them falling off, and why was the protagonist so careless dumping them in the bottle, with half of them missing the mouth and falling on the ground? I'm all for cool visuals, but it kinda takes me out of it when things like that don't seem to add up. Like I think it would have felt more powerful for him to consider the buttons bore sacred and agonize over getting every last one into the bottle. I could be misunderstanding, though.

    henosis Term Image (ενωσις)
    (Language: Greek)
    Short Description: unity
    Long Description: unity; unity is the characteristic that everything has in common; anything depends on unity and only unity is the goal of all things; in Neoplatonism, the soul’s purification, accomplished primarily through philosophy, culminates in noetic vision and finally in mystical union (Plot. Enn.VI.7.36); the divine truth is an indivisible henosis of real beings.

      TERRAMOUNT Power. You need to use the Jetpack back because the new RED cameras don't have DC in on the brain (don't get me started). Then the official DJI lemo to D tap cable is at a right angle and the head of the cable hits the gimbal and won't go in properly, so you need to open up the Jetpack and turn the DC in port 90 degrees.
