Beautiful video.I think the electrical tape is overkill. Using just gorilla tape for years with no problem for a long time. Really great tip with the tire lever at 18:50 or so. Thanks!

Slow dancing with the tire and getting handsy!! It’s high school all over again. Best ghetto setup video out there!

Great video, thank you. Was doing my first tubeless conversion yesterday and mistook regular tape on WTB rim for tubeless rim tape. 2 hours of bloody strangle to inflate a wheel without being sealed ahahah. Getting Gorilla tape today and will continue using your technique. Thanks again

Hey kids, don't forget to check for leaks with the soapy water, because you almost always will have a leak on first try. And while I will try the lever trick for seating my gravel tires on my hybrid bike, wetting the tire and rim a little also helps with seating as well, and that satisfying pop is even louder than when the tire is dry.

Is it not wobbly? Maxxis usually wobbles on refitting, in which I don’t understand, sometimes it doesn’t but i got 3x already. 😅

I don’t know why but I’m nervous to go tubeless , maybe it’s my not so great dance moves so my sealant won’t cover properly .

🤣 give it a try…. You can always throw some some tubes back in.

  • @marklouieadame

Is there really a benefits on tubeless weight is not really an issue as tubes are just very few grams, for sealant you can always add sealants on tubes too? Puncture? I dont understand the idea of hitting your rims but when you watch Redbull Rampage every contestant using tubes and i find tubeless you always need to maintain. If puncture is an issu the reason we have tire sealants for that and you can always add it to your tube and go low psi for super extra protection add anti puncture liner for overkill🤔

Most of presta valve tubes do not have a removable core. You will not be able to add sealant an easy way. Other than that - yes, there are tubes with sealant that work for small flats. With that for 29er you will save over 1 lb in weight plus you can go low pressure. Tubes do not allow under 30 psi to prevent pinch flats. Riding low pressure is a very big deal for MTB. Liner will not help with pinch flats, and tubes with sealant will not seal pinch flat - those are too large

Its absolutely enraging when people make this process look so easy…

Oh no. Tire Rule #1 broken on the front tire. The Logo do not line up with the valve.... Sorry dude, i think it is dangerous to ride with that front tire.... :)
One tip to share. If you struggle to get the tire to seat with a handpump, even though you prepped it like you demostrated. Take out the valve core, this will improve airflow and make it easier to seat he tire.
But you will need to pump it up again to the riding preasure, unless youre fast with your thumb and putting in the valvecore again :)

Agreed! Thx for the comment! Tried that… The one issue I had was that my hand pump head (schrader/presta combo) needs the valve core in to push against to block the air from coming out the schrader side. But I found that manually mounting the tire gave me enough of a seal to get some pressure. 👍🏻
