Bro I have seen many 3ds max tutorials but u have the best easy teaching ability with proper explanation .. u should do more exterior related tutorials for more views n subscribers..
Hi, Is it necessary to keep the .max file that includes the asset after exporting it as a .vrmesh file or could we delete the .max file and go with the .vrmesh file instead?
The answer is not simple. So I''ll reply with an example. Suppose you have a sofa.max file containing sofa. You converted the sofa into sofa.vrmesh. Now you have 2 files. sofa.max and sofa.vrmesh. If you don't want you can delete sofa.max file but before deleting sofa.max file you need to save the Material applied on the sofa object into material editor. Reason to save material: When you import sofa.vrmesh into 3ds max. You will see the sofa when you render but sofa materials will be missing.
@@SWKTutorials Thank you for the answer. That was the key point of my question. I was planning to convert my assets to .vrmesh files in order to speed up my workflow by managing my assets just as I can with the latest built in chaos asset library. But I see that converting my whole asset library in a render ready state is not as easy as I imagined 😊
My assets method: E.g. tree.max file. I convert the tree into VRay proxy . Save the same file tree.max. but delete the original tree object and keep the VRay proxy tree. i.e. tree.vrmesh. in the file. Now whenever I want to use the tree again. I just merge the tree.max file. Since the file has Vray proxy tree.vrmesh object. Only tree proxy is imported. The advantage of this trick is that. I don't have to save materials in the materials editor.
@@SWKTutorials Thanks for your answers ! I do the same as you described and was worried that discarding the original .max file object would impact on the geometry of the proxy somehow. So you can confirm that as long as the material is saved, deleting the original .max file won't impact the proxy in any ways ?
@@SWKTutorials do we need to do vray proxy every time when work on new project.. for example I have done vray proxy of car on one project then another project I need to use that car do need to import again and do it vray proxy again or can call vray proxy directly which is saved in folder
@@SWKTutorials Hi it was an issue with the file itself, I cleaned it and merged to another clean scene and did the proxies and it works fine now. Thank you for writing back though

Vray proxy will help in reducing render time?
No. It's main purpose is to reduce load on DDR ram and graphics card.

I converted my whole scene to proxy and still going up over 64gb and crashes.
It should not be like this. How many polygons do you have in scene?
