Hey man, how long are you playing chess? You’re opening theory must have been a lot of study, I’ve only been playing on and off for about a year now and I’m rated around 1000, but there’s so many openings and variations to know, I’ve got very little preparation against the scicilian defence, and I’d just play solid against D4 since I’ve not got many traps for it, would you study one opening for a week until you’re strong with it or how do you learn it, or is it just a matter or playing for years?

I've only played for about 2 years bro! I think it's a matter of playing and trying different openings and styles and then finding how you like to play. Once you decide on an opening that's conducive with your style, invest some time into learning and practising it
