Don, thanks for your very informative video. I have a 78 Blazer and fortunately the frame is not as damaged, but it has an issue on the front right side, It was partially solved, but I expect with your measuring technique have more tools to diagnose the cause and solve it. I guess Blazer Generation I as yours, may have a different frame than Blazer Gen II as 78´s.

Miguel, your welcome. Yes I believe the gen 2 frame is different but I’ll bet with enough poking around the web you can find all the specs! It was quite some time after we made that episode I found the gen 1 GM assembly manual. It’s been very helpful for reassembling body panels. It also has all the frame specs and diagrams. Maybe it’s out there for the gen 2 as well👍

@@MrRv8pilot Thank you, I will check for the manual. As you said it has passed some time, fortunately I have your videos and others, which make my work easier. Kind regards.

Great video!!! I plan on doing a cumming swap on my 72 blazer also and your videos is so informative!!! I might have to watch it a few times!!! I’m doing the 6bt but plan on keeping my Dana 44’s also for the front but I got a 6 lug heavy half rear end for the rear. It’s definitely beefer. But I’ll have to get the gears to match. Any chance you know what gear ratio is in these stock Dana 44’s? Thanks for the great videos!

Carlos Prieto, welcome aboard. I hope you share your project as well. When I first read your questions my mind want to 3.73 gear set. But the more I thought and looked back at my photos I see my front ring gear is marked 48-14 (48 tooth ring gear divided by 14 tooth pinion gear equals 3.42) gear ratio. I can’t find photos of the rear but I’m sure they are the same. Hope this helps and thanks for watching. More brake and fuel line videos coming soon.

It's probably too late by now but can't you buy new frames from Whitney catalog I can't remember but I had a magazine that you could buy every part for those blazers.

Ugh. Stay away from JC Whitney. Terrible body panels.

Buy a new frame and you'll need to buy a steering box frame kit so if you put bigger tires on it the frame won't break under neath the steering box like they like to do you can get that from offroad design and if you want you can buy shackle flips so that you can get more highth out of the rear end I believe they sell 2/4 and 6 in shackle flips and your frame looks bent real bad

There's not need to explain for why you'd box a frame. Open frames were never a good idea under 9 mm thick materials, literally, C construction beam trucks and even those buckled and behaved entirely too "open" for what they were.
    Excellent project.

How much did you pay for the bear shell and frame?

Would suggest that, considering the narrative aspect of this video, you could just "cheat" and use still images combined with some video footage in an update video, i'm sure others would like to see more about this too, but, i wouldn't at the expense of your time and concentration.
