I used to have a cassette tape of Wilde's stories for children. I played it over and over til I wore that ribbon out. His stories make me cry, but they're also beautiful. Thanks for the memories.
It has been my favorite Christmas Story since the first time I read it, about 50 years ago. 💖 Thank you so much for having it published in here, because I really needed to listen to it tonight...
Dear, Elliot. Thank you so much. Recently I read this story in Spanish, so it was lovely to hear it in English as well :) When I was a little child I watched a movie / an adaptation of the Oscar Wilde’s book: “The Picture of Dorian Gray.” I have to say that the movie frightened me senseless but also made me feel mystified and enchanted by it. This movie made such a strong impression on me that I promised myself to read it in its original language. So, once I moved to England the very first book I purchased was, of course, the Penguin Classics version of this book… I wish you could record it… it would be such a pleasure to hear your wonderful artistic interpretation of it. Thank you for sending me down the memory lane, and all the best to you.
Thanks Monika. It’s certainly on my to-do list, although it’s a considerably longer story so I’ll have to give myself a nice record window! Great suggestion even so ❤️
i too must fight back tears, hearing these beautiful Children's Stories... by the absolute Master! Who wrote them for his own two dear Boys. i remember my own Father reding the Selfish giant to us, and even as a child... it deeply touched my heart. As well 'The Happy Prince' Also by Wilde, & Also read so well by this same Gentleman . i highly recommend it! Many thanks Sir, for making your professional, Fine Work reading, available to us. The Lord Bless you and keep you.
I don't know where you are from. In India the stories of Wilde are widely read in the schools and colleges. Indeed, it's a great joy to discover such wonderful stories

I had no idea that Oscar Wilde wrote stories like this. A marvelous ending. I like your giant voice. 0:12
Yes, they’re lovely stories aren’t they? Hopefully I’ll be able to explore some more in the future
