It’s a common animation type that most studios use due to it being cheap and easier than regular frame-by-frame animation. Basically, instead of drawing individual pictures, they “stretch” or adjust the location of parts of the image to create the illusion of movement. However I’m not 100% sure

About video with xiao and different animations - there are two kinds of 2D animations - drawn frame by frame (for example fighting scenes) and animations created from arts (for example - when we open event pages, we can see animations like that!). Maybe I'm not 100% right about this, but as an animator who makes the second type of animations, i can say that animating fighting scenes is difficult and it's better to make it frame by frame!

genshin is fan service stuffs, it doesn’t deny that they can and already have some good world building and plots, it’s just they would likely not to chose it because otherwise less people will whale for their characters. I feel they could do it by putting their vision on the people who doesn’t have that much “burden” about how their beloved character performs in the plot. But it is what it is, they gonna loss whales if they do that. And you see there are only few really rare cases where character in different regions collaborates, have conflicts(not so deep), and we can’t see how they progress in life. Which hoyo here is trying to sell their character to everyone by maintain peace between fans, instead of addressing the niche of each characters and see who they can attract. Due to this constraint and their profit maxing orientation I feel it’s hard for them to build something deep in common human’s heart. But I feel they are letting this role to other type of derived media, which I never consume it’s a bit pity.
