Sean, we’re very humbled by this honest and detailed review! Thank you for pushing natural fibers forward with us. Next up, we’ll have to replace that fleece layer 😉🦙
Thank you! I am truly impressed, on a lot of levels, with the Alpaca clothing. Next stop is camping in 10F temps tomorrow :). Love to learn more about the next offerings from you all! Keep up the great work!
Very nice looking jacket. Nice to see a review on the paka wool. I had considered these before but wasn’t sure if the manufacturers claims on paka warmth were exaggerated. Sounds like there not.
Great review, I ordered both the lightweight puffer and parka, and cannot wait for these! I started with Paka's socks and am now addicted. Recently got the Cloud fleece as well and it's amazing!! Soooo light, and so warm. I'm just waiting for the delivery notification on the puffer and parka, as it's getting colder. The Paka team is amazing, can't recommend them enough.
Great work Sean. Glad I found you online - you’re the answer for early adopters and outdoor gear! I have some Paka socks, underwear, and base layer pieces-thanks to your video. I will now consider adding a puffer or parka as well. Keep up the great work!
Hey, I really appreciate all your gear reviews. I watch pretty much all of them. Thanks for putting the work in. I have the Paka Apu Parka on pre-order. Was wondering if you'd be getting a chance to review that jacket.
Nice vid. You mentioned Arc'. Any thoughts about Arc' becoming a trend, getting owned by chinese company, losing its values, sizing going crazy, lower quality yet raising the prices every year... Would love to hear your opinion on it...
Several years ago, I was wondering when an alpaca lined jacket would come on the market. Now there at least two. after consideration I have to stick with my layering system over an insulated jacket. One is cost and the other is versatility in the field. I have three or four wind jackets and three alpaca sweaters of different design. A crew neck, a Hoodie and the three button with collar. By base layering with fishnet and mid layer of alpaca and outer wind or rain layer, I have options that a lined jacket does not have. I can wear just the sweater or just the wind jacket or the third option is wear both together. On a kayak, bike or backpack trip less is more, where everything has to serve two or more functions. So may of advantages of alpaca wool over sheep wool, one is alpaca has the same insulation value of sheep wool with half the bulk and weight due to the hollow fiber (really voids) Another is both sheep and alpaca have a thermal range from 5 to 15% and still insulates when wet. Poly fleece has one temperature based on loft with no thermal range. With poly fleece to duplicate the range of alpaca wool you will need to wear two light layers of poly fleece with zipper to duplicate the thermal range of alpaca.
Great review... I'm late to the party seeing their jackets, but have a couple other pieces of their clothing. How does the fit compare to the Arc'teryx Atom LT/AR hoody? Those have been some of my favorite outerwear jackets in my collection and the XL fit great? I'm 5'11" 230# athletic and most of your sizing is a fit for me as well. Thanks for the continued great product reviews!
Great video. I also believe in natural fibers. Appreciate the review. Also had a non-related question, what brand of pants are you wearing? They look very cool and functional.
These are sold out already apparently. Have a Paka hoodie my wife n I both love. Have you tried/compared this to the Ibex puffer?? Would be curious to know the contrasts if so!
An idea for the sun shirt that might add cost to the product but would improve performance. Instead of using Tencel for strength and shape why not use linin or silk? Both are strong natural fibers. One of the attributes of linin is that it adds crinkle to the alpaca cloth adding to its ventilation and evaporation rate. This is not a new idea. A wool, linen blend has been used for over six thousand years and is even mentioned in the Old Testament. It is called woozy linsey. If it can be made with sheep wool it can be made with alpaca wool. As the summers move from warm to damn hot outdoor people need added protection for the hotter temp and longer hours a day of high temps.
Thanks for doing a review on the Paka Puffer, I’ve been eyeing this jacket since last year and am stoked at the new models. Can you comment on the cut a little more? If comparing to Arc’teryx is it fitted or regular?
Cannot support PAKA. The puffers only have 60% alpaca wool… the rest of the loft is synthetic. No where in the advertising do they cop to that. Your channel is awesome, this company not! Consider that in your review.
@@caseydeal3048 that's incredibly reductive reasoning to not support them. They do offer many products that are 100% alpaca and some that are blends with other natural fibers. Maybe this product isn't for you, but seems a little ridiculous to not support them because of it.
i like your videos waaaaaaaaaay better than some others by Coloradoans alpaca wool is truly a gift from God a lot warmer than merino and a lot lighter oh by the way I am a little smaller in size than you I would like to trade you for your outdoor vitals fast pack for my reHOSE custom 24 liter pack check it out get in touch if interested I'm serious 😊

@@Engearment can it be packed in its own pocket ? On their Website it looks like it but i want to make sure . Thank you :))
Are you working on an improved alpaca, hot weather ventilation layer that includes linen instead of tinsel ?

I'm hoping to upgrade our puffer jackets to these someday. Glad to see the positive review.

Can you do a review of the black yak bakosi jacket ?! Just heard of it today and it looks excellent

Hello! The fit is much like Arcteryx. Athletic and good looking. Take care!
Is the apu lw more comparable to the Arcteryx atom lt. Was looking at the apu lightweight and the apu parka. Not sure which one to get?
I should gotten a large, xl too big.
Is it safe to store your iphone near your heart?
I have not heard otherwise. But if you know something that is helpful regarding this, then share away. Thanks!

I had to verify this myself but you're absolutely right. Thanks for the heads up!
