Because a council one is essentially government owned property such as a hospital car park and as such it's in the public interest to stop people from abusing parking and such - a private car park is essentially an invoice not a fine.
@@SISU889 Apparently that's irrelevant. The council can take you to court and force you to pay, a private company cannot, unless they are linked to or supported by the council.
@@SISU889 They try to brow beat the recipients of their letters into paying before anything else. And they don't even use the word "fine" these days, because they aren't allowed to.
As a food delivery driver, I often receive tickets from a private company. While I have won some appeals, others have been rejected. Should I simply ignore the rejections? Thank you for your guidance.

I guess this only applies if you get the yellow 'ticket' stuck to your windscreen in a car-park or on the street. If they don't write to you, it seems you aren't going to be liable unless you admit you got the letter. It's always best to appeal though if you want to do it 'properly'. A postman friend (who has had tickets, and appeals, tells me that unless the company can PROVE they sent the letter to your house, then there is nothing that can be done if you say it didn't arrive! They get the registered keeper's details from the DVLA. If the keeper wasn't the driver then they can tell the parking company who was, and the parking company will then pursue the driver. If the parking company don't know who was driving, the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 (in England and Wales) allows them to legally pursue the registered keeper.
Can the parking fine be unlimited? What I mean is, can the cost of that ticket continue to go up if you don't pay for it? Just so I understand, I had a few and ignored them, and now I have a CCJ or decree for the Scots. I had moved out of my house six months prior and, due to work, I never updated my address everywhere and had no knowledge of the court action until it hit my credit file.

Hi @unshakableresilience! In many circumstances private car park fines aren't enforceable, but you could be taken to a small claims court if it isn't paid. You could get in touch with them first to understand the fine, then go from there. This article can shed more light on the matter: moneynerd.co.uk/private-car-park-fines-enforceable/ Hope this helps!

Hey @unshakableresilience, you can appeal against a PCN if it's not served within 14 days. This article can give you an idea of what to do next: moneynerd.co.uk/how-long-pcn-issued-after-offence/

While it's true that the fine increases if you don't pay on time (after 28 days), there's still a chance to challenge it due to the PCN not being delivered to the right address. Here's an article that provides more detail: moneynerd.co.uk/council-and-police-fines/penalty-charge-notice/

I've found that privately owned car parks do not enforce any penalties they ask for. By that I mean they won't take you to court. And I've never had visits from bailiffs either. But if you do have bailiffs knocking on your door, you can tell them not to waste their time as it's not enforceable and is a non essential debt. I'm not a dishonest person, but make mistakes occasionally, and if I notice what I've done, I usually go to the parking meter and pay for some time, then drive away immediately.

If a private parking company cannot get driver information from the DVLA - How do they know your address for enforcement of the charge ?
Only the ones registered with the accredited trade association can obtain address details. The rest cannot

@ I meant the parking company letters
Why is the final sum £170 how do they come to this sum
I had that from Debt Recovery Plus it suddenly jumped from £130 to £170, however after a heated discussion DRP reduced it back
yes and it says in car park up to 100 pound
So called debt recovery fees that haven't actually been incurred. They're usually struck down if it gets to court.
