Love you guys. I bought a color TV in 1973 and watched the race in color for the first time. Beautiful cars and Richard won the race. Still see the race in my mind. so many wonderful stories. I see Lee with the Pure Oil logo, and think of Smokey. Then Fireball. When that happened Richard Petty filled the hole in my heart. I built a model of the Road Runner. Grew up in the NE Modifieds and Dad, through Pontiac, IMSA had associations with Pontiac and Petty in the 80s. Eventually I was involved in racing in the mid 90s. But I will never forget when i first saw the King in real life... Martinsville 72, I thought I saw God. Same when I saw Smokey at Charlotte mid 90s. so ... Thank you!

Mr Inman, I am like you, I never worry about deserts at Thanksgiving. It's all about the Bird and the sides. Never cared for pie 🥧 after dinner, maybe a piece of pumpkin around supper time. Is it OK for a Yankee to call the noon meal dinner and evening meal supper 🤔 I was raised that way and I'm way too old to change. Continued good health to you both and have a wonderful holiday season.
I would like to have asked Richard what he thought of his acting (playing himself) in: "The Richard Petty Story". I like it quite a bit, Darren Mcgavin did a great job playing Lee. I was a fun movie!
My favorite time at Martinsville , Richard had got caught up in a wreck and they worked on the car ! Not soon after he got back out and lost the car in turn one and spun out and they left the car in the field for the last couple laps ! After the race , they opened the gate and went over to his car ! People were taking stickers off of it , I told my buddy to jump in and would take his picture and then I got in and he took mine ! Later when I got my film developed his picture didn't come out , but my in his camera did ! He was mad , and wouldn't give me my picture ! I got to look at it , so then I was mad ! Never did get it and it disappeared ! Couldn't even get the negative! Boy did we always have fun a Martinsville!
