I'm in a higher cost area in Central California So I just took your amount of $84 and raised it to $90 for the adjustment. $22.50 a week is my total. I'm joining in!
The only part about limiting yourself to $84 is missed opportunities. For example, today I had to get a few thing at the store, while I was there I noticed quite a bit of meat marked down. I bought all they had and needless to say it was more than $84. However I also saved a ridiculous amount of money than if I had bought the same meat at full price as "as needed."
Glad to see you. I agree with you regarding Food Banks. They are there for people who really need food, not to save you money. Don't even get me started on dumpster diving!. 😸🙏❤
Thanks for explaining....I'm just glad to know they didn't put restrictions on you with your food card. There are so many guidelines anymore. We have been blessed with a no spend week because of the ice storm. We have been eating from our freezer and pantry. It's nice to be retired and not worry about getting to work. I am going to need to learn from you on being even more frugal! We need to save to get our emergency fund back for our next emergency. We are just getting our truck and it's new transmission back today. This has been our first big expense since we have retired. It's a bit scary saving that money back out of our retirement budget. Thank you for being so positive and encouraging!
Yes it is nice not having to drive to work in bad weather. To make extra money maybe you could sell things that you do not longer use like wall hangings, throw pillows, nicknacs, etc. I know a person that they sold her things that she had in an apartment before they got married. He said that she made about $250.00 by doing this. Just an idea.
@patriciagale5047 We have sorted through our home every winter ( since retirement) and downsized our 52 years of marriage. Each year we are finding more items we no longer need or use. Our town has a large Thresherman's Show in the summer and fall and the wives love yard sales ( when they are tired of looking at steam engines and making applebutter in an open kettle over a fire) and the guys love old tools and other guy stuff. We have town wide yard sales....our local newspaper prints up maps of sale locations.. We love Yard Sales! That is definitely one of our plans for adding back to our emergency fund. Thank you so much for the suggestion!
We used our stimulus check for a Refrigerator and a hot water heater and a over stove little microwave. Need more gvt. freebies to get a new stove and dishwasher. LOL
You’re awesome granny:)… I’m going to do the challenge with you but it will be me and my disabled sis. Our budget will be $25 each a week. I also have a freezer full of food that needs to be eaten and a stocked pantry. Let’s do this granny!!
Granny, you and I have the same insurance company and because we live in different states our insurance card amount is different and mine did go down just like yours. But I understand that is normal. I am just thankful to have it because I have kidney disease and it helps me with my needs. And my daughter handles all of my bills and any issues I have. Thank you for sharing.. 🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
I think you're referring to Medicare "Advantage"-type plans? I think they're only available to folks with Medicare insurance. But all kinds of different insurance benefits are available in different states and plans.
I have seen all the ads for the food card . I have tried them all and didn’t get anything. It goes by what insurance you have . I have MVP advantage plan and they don’t offer it at all . I don’t want to change insurance just to get the food card . Beside $84 in NY for a month wouldn’t go far .
Feeding my husband is like feeding keto on Beverly hillbillies. He works hard and eats lots. A box of cereal lasts him 2days. He will eat 3-4 burgers for a meal. He should be fat but he wears a size 32 pant. Our grocery bill is over $200 a week. But all that said he is a wonderful husband and I wouldn’t trade him for the world
I would like to make my own laundry soap, but borax is a chemical is it not? I’m thinking it would be too harsh on the skin. I watched your video and you stated it needs to be made outside or in a well ventilated area. I wash for children and sensitive skin. How is homemade better?
I thought a person had to be on Medicare and Medicaid to get the card that has the money to pay bills or rent...that's what I was told I don't really know??

Definitely need to take advantage of good prices when they present themselves. ❤
Awesome Christmas gifts. It's always great seeing you again. I love you Granny 💜💐🦋☺️😊

Great advice. I just got on Medicare . Looking forward to getting my card.😊
I use the Amish Farms bar soap. the bars last a long time and I love it! The type that i buy contains bentonite clay
I use that soap too! I get the kind with no fragrance. It’s so gentle and works well.
Thank you!
Nice! God bless you! 😀♥️🙏
That Amish soap is fantastic. I’ve used it to wash my hair and bath. It’s has lots of suds. I ordered it from their website.
I love your videos granny 😊
I love that Amish soap too, Grandma!

Yea I think the cards are only available with advantage plans. I don’t think they are available with regular Medicare.
some of them are only available for persons with medicaid
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hey granny
It would be wonderful if you shared with us where you ordered from I like some of the products

Good thinking. I just hate that we have to order from Amazon. :( Thanks for sharing.
Eggs are $6.50 a dozen here in western nc
Do you still have a lot of those jarred meals that you made for the craft fair? Those would be a great addition to your pantry!

Good morning here in Australia we're in summer
Disability plans like mine are similar to your Medicare plans
I thought a person had to be on Medicare and Medicaid to get the card that has the money to pay bills or rent...that's what I was told I don't really know??
I tried that add on utube and you have to be on medicare to receive benefits
Be carful a lot of them are a scam.
Hello Granny
You also still have Christmas presents coming in I'm sure it takes longer when coming in from other states
Do what works for you
