- John went from being a ‘Son of Thunder’ to ‘John the Beloved’, a remarkable change in character and he would go on to write five books of the New Testament. John was the only disciple to die a natural death and spent time on the beautiful and barren isle of Patmos in his later years where he wrote the book of Revelation after receiving a vision from God. This book has intrigued, inspired and guided Gods people since then, till now and will continue to do so until Jesus comes.

"Beloved Let us Love one another, for Love is of God, and anyone that Loveth is born of God and knoweth God, he that Loveth not, knoweth not God, for God is Love". May we be humble to accept God's will for our lives in ministry. I was pleasantly surprised to hear how there was not much recorded of John until Revelation and how he was entrusted to care for Mary. How he also received an education in refining his character! Thank you. This is just the video I needed to explain to the kids (and myself) about how John's exile was fruitful in producing the written word of God.
One based-upon-the-true-story book that well covered John persecuted by Rome, including being boiled in oil, yet surviving unharmed, is the book . It is a Biblical Novel that covers John's arrest, appearance before Domitian Caesar, being poisoned, (he didn't die), being boiled in oil, (he didn't cook), then hastily sent to a penal colony in Patmos where he eventually received the Book of Revelation. Also, most people do not know how John established a new Christian church there, plus was used by Jesus for many miracles. It's a very good book if you want to know more about John on Patmos.

I sat in complete silence in my apartment from March 20, 2020 to March 8, 2021. I had my "hello fresh" food delivered and refused to answer the door for visitors. This was the beginning of my isolation with God experience. I had many visions during this time. I was also visited by Satan in December of 2020.

Why would you refuse to open the door for visitors? Funny how you were fine with the poor workers at Hello Fresh to be out and about to serve you while you refused to go out, right?
Understand that in the OT those who claimed to be prophets speaking for God, if they were not 100% accurate every single time, got the death penalty.

I am not aware of anything in the Bible that remotely says anything about John needing Mary's influence to soften his coarse and rough edges.
Synoptics say the disciple all abandoned Jesus.
