This is 100% unsustainable. They lost a lot of goals of the roster and it looks like they r focusing on defense first in their play. Lalonde even said they arent focusing on forechecking in offensive end. If some changes arent made with the system, this is what the team is going to look like. Very little offense, bunker up in the d zone and just survive. Constantly being outshot, not getting a lot of goals, and counting on your mid tier goalie to be a hero isnt sustainable, by no means.
The problem is Lalonde. I’m not saying this roster is great. There are holes. But look at the top 6 and look how many goals are scored. I would estimate the goals should be around middle of the pack. Not 29th. Obviously the system doesn’t work. Lalonde is the coach and is switching the forward lines every game. There is a thing called chemistry. Larkin forced those goals and goaltending is playing above their average. Fire Lalonde bring in Quenneville
@ as for yzerman. The one thing none of really know is when signing free agents. Do these players want to play for Detroit. What has yzermans choices really been. As for Walman and ghost bear. Did he move them in preparation for trouba. Was there off ice stuff? Did ghost actually want to resign. Because I’m pretty sure yzerman would have been fine with 3.2 mil for him. I can’t say one way or another on yzerman. Too many things that aren’t public. As for Lalonde. There is plenty of proof by this point his style doesn’t work on Detroit. Also that whole bunker down with a 1 goal lead thing is always a bad move. Also gives us fans a heart seizure for 2 periods.
*PS- I agree, I am totally on board with trying Johansson on the 2nd pair with Ben Chiarot. It certainly can not hurt to try. *PSS- our goalies are not the problem year. They are a pretty good pair actually. No defensive support EVER, means they have to play like Dominic Hassik, circa 1994 EVERY night, or we will get slaughtered. That is very taxing on all but the elite of the elite. They didn't call him the Dominator for nothing !
They're not a good team. They're not going to be a good team as constructed. They don't have enough heart to play sixty minutes a night and more often than not it's going to cost them. Yzerman built a team that will live in the lower half of the mushy middle. Not quite good enough for the playoffs and not bad enough to get quality lottery picks so this is where they'll stay for a very long time.
@@إسماعيلالأندلسي The way I see it is they seem to play just well enough to screw up their lottery chances. It's very much like the Lions in the 90s. Either playing just good enough to sneak in then get embarrassed in the wild card or just bad enough to miss and still only get the twelfth pick.
What are we even doing having Petry and Chariot in both in the top 4. This team is overachieving. Finishing higher than 6th in the atlantic is a pipe dream.
First of all I will say, being out shot is nothing new for this team.. Last season it drove me crazy because I knew it was unsustainable. only reason it's being mentioned now is because our offense hasn't been capitalizing on chances as much as they did last year to compensate for it. we've always been a team that is very picky with shots... until like that last 5 minutes of the game when we realize we're losing. I also think we're one of the most mentally fragile teams in the league. All it takes is for us to let a few softies in and morale is down the drain. I'm at the point now that I don't really care about losing but it's how we lose that drives me crazy. Seeing the Detroit Red Wings get bullied every season is what I'm tired of. Our style of play is very easy to beat. All an opposing team needs to do is overwhelm us with pressure and pucks will eventually end up in the back of the net. And it's that High pressure style of play that I can tell a lot of teams are successfully adopting
1. Thank you for recognizing our solid goaltending. I always feel like i’m in the minority when it comes to this. Our goaltending is overall pretty solid. 2. Fire Lalonde. He does not have a winning mindset. 3. Get rid of petry and chiarot. Softest players out there who always look afraid of defending.
@@GC-bk1mv I’m with u with the firing of Lalonde. And our goaltending has been better then the their average. And for petry and chairot. They will stay. But not utilized properly. Petry is on his final year in the nhl. And Chiarot actually hits and blocks shots. The big problem is that dingleberry keeps playing them together. Like there isn’t any proof from last year it doesn’t work. Both are slow. I would like to put petry with Gustafson and johannson with chairot. Probably the best combinations. With the current options. Also puts Gus on the left side where he has played his whole career. Instead Lalonde is trying to force him to the right side
@@nicksmith8141The issue is they simply don't have much to spare. Which is why I think they are better off writing the season off. Fire Lalonde, trade Lyon and some of the others, leave nothing and no one off the table. Even someone like Larkin and Chase a lottery pick.
Not sure how they would fit that in cap wise. I think Yzerman was looking in the offseason for anyone and settled on Gustafson, which so far has been bad.
Living in the Detroit area, I watch the Panthers, the Bruins, and the Bolts. As for Detroit, I watch the Lions and the Pistons. I don't know what the Hell happened to Steve but this roster is not good.
Exactly what I have been saying. With Hronek and Walman and the goaltending we have - not much would be going in the net! (Don’t forget - SY also gave away - and I mean GAVE AWAY - 2nd round - positively NHLer Gibson - TO GET RID OF WALMAN ??????? So - we let Ghost, Perron, & Strong go - and kept: Fischer, Holl and Petry!!!!! WELL DONE, STEVIE!!!!!!!
Holl and Petry they r stuck with until their contract ends. Ghost was overpaid, and we def lost some offense and puck transition. Sprong wasnt coming back, he wasnt even consistently being sat because of lack of defense. Im pretty sure Steve made a concerted effort to emphasize defense over offense, while not adding a good d man in the process. At this point, call these season cooked.
Joel Quenneville's ear is burning and his hand is on his phone !! Go Wings !👍😃

I’d be interested hearing more about your fantasy team as well as how you think the landscape is going for fantasy hockey: H2H, CATS, bangers, etc.

Yzerman’s roster sucks.

I can’t disagree. I was at the game last night. Woof
Agreed 50% on your statement but to me they're 100% a lottery team if nothing's changing before the end of season

Instead of toe dragging, try press R1 I think it is for a Datsyukie and flip the puck up and over him. I almost did it but hit the crossbar.
Y'all still believe Mr Happy is going to build a Championship Team? The YzerPLAN never existed.

They need a trade for a legit 2nd pair defenseman to pair with Chiarot. In the meantime they should probably try Johansson on the 2nd pair over Petry
Trade who exactly?
@jwt6577 thats Yzerman's job. It would depend on availability. Nothing likely until near the deadline unless a team falls off a cliff in the standings

They need a first and second line center and three actual defensemen.
The team is just built bad and should fold the season.

Yeah Holl and Petry are Stuck due to contracts given and clauses. I don’t get why very few people understand this.
