Wow...müller-schott is FANTASTIC!
Müller-Schott plays with a very warm, elegant tone. I very much enjoy this performance.

I have not been aware of this Cello concert by Robert Volmann. This concerto! He deserves to be better known. Moreover, the interpretation combines finesse and lightness. Daniel Müller-Schott attacks the notes with unequaled softness, warmth, and precision.
Je ne connaissais pas ce concerto ! Il est très beau et mériterait d'être plus connu. De plus l'interprétation allie finesse et légèreté. Daniel Müller-Schott attaque les notes avec une douceur, une chaleur et une précision inégalées. Quel son magnifique !

An admirably clean and elegant performance of a little-known work which, to be frank, doesn't strike me as particularly interesting.
It is however pivotal ..... and, to think at one time held higher esteem than either schumann or the later, saint-saens op 33 ..... An interesting bridge of romantacism: ..... What do you think of d'Albert, Molique or Litzner??
@@garfieldmoore9632 I must confess that even though I've been playing the cello for sixty-odd years, I am not familiar with Molique and Litzner. I shall seek them on RUclips. The D'Albert is another matter entirely. When I was studying under Maurice Gendron at the Conservatoire in Paris in the late Sixties, we cello students were assigned the D'Albert concerto as a morceau de concours; and I think that it pretty well deserves its present obscurity.
@@fourstrings48 While I am forced to agree, it has an interesting history and was once all the rage.... (d'Albert) ... I have often wondered when and where Casals performed it (He must have; at least early on .... To another era: There actually are some Classical works (Janson, Stamitz; for instance which really are quite beautiful ,,, Have you listened to or played any of the Rontgen (g, e and #f) ..... Casals was right (I believe) they are quite worthwile, as is Charles Villers Stanford (d) .... Want to hear more of your time with Gendron.. .... I admired his quest for perfection and his handling of the prelude of the sixth suite (e minor tonicization all on the A string) ..... I worked briefly with Tortellier just before my NY debut.... and I loved his passion, devotion to a musical purpose and SOUND ......Very interesting communicating with you ... To Mr. Tabbat, who doesn't find this "interesting", I much prefer this dramatic, melodic and purely musical concerto to the famous Dvorak, which is just a bunch of folk tunes thrown together.
I have now listened to this post in its entirety, and I must confess that I found it to be an agreeable showpiece, but little more than that. Among the standard Romantic cello concerti, the one that I find most moving is the one by Schumann. I think that the Dvorak concerto is much more than "just a bunch of folk tunes thrown together." Three other works for solo cello and orchestra that I hold in high regard are Tchaikovsky's "Variations on a Rococo Theme," Saint-Saens' cello concerto, and Brahms' Double Concerto, where the two solo instruments are the violin and the cello. And I would add to the list Beethoven's Triple Concerto, where the solo instruments are the violin, the cello, and the piano.

@@fourstrings48 outside of romantic pieces there’s the 2 Haydn concerti and a very underrated Monn concerto.
