I cannot believe I have walked these very streets. It was such a privilege, my mom is a fucking hero, working herself out to the bone just to get me and my brothers the very best of this world. It is surreal. I'm from Brazil and I honestly believe I'll never have the money to travel out again but I'm glad that Mom gave me the chance. Incredible.
Your mum sounds like a strong and loving personality. I wish the best for you and that someday you (and your family) will visit our beloved Europe again. :)
I am going in June and so looking forward to it. It looks stunning. We have timbered and half-timbered buildings in my city in the UK - York, but nothing to compare to this. 🤩
My wife and I took the train there from Paris for one overnight stay(I had done the research and we loved what we saw), and I really believe our time there was more memorable than anything in Paris. And we LOVED Paris. There is just something about the beauty of Strasbourg that captures you and never lets go. We hope to return to France one day and this time we'll spend 3 or 4 nights there. Absolutely loved it. I woke up at 5am after our one night there and wandered around with my camera. I basically had the city to myself. Never forget it. The cathedral and the square all around were empty. It was surreal, magical, and memorable. Highly recommend anyone who ever goes to Paris, to be sure to make time for a visit.

It was German until Henri de La Tour d’Auvergne, vicomte de Turenne (a french marshal) kikcked the Germans out of Alsace in 1675 at the battle of Turckheim.
It was Straßburg for 700 years, a south german town such as Nürnberg, Augsburg, Freiburg ... Louis XIV robbed it. Until today the german roots are denied, the german language and the alsacian dialect despised and suppressed.
because historically, Strasbourg lived much longer in the kingdom of France than the holy Germanic empire! In truth Strasbourg is a purely French city. But architecture is not a question of borders but of culture. The city has always been in a Germanic geographical area, so it took on the Germanic culture! Despite everything, the people of Strasbourg have always felt French!
