Just wanted to let you all know that in the last 2 days it was the first ever time that Charlie and JJ curled up next to each other... More to the point, Charlie moved to curl up ON TOP of JJ in their Cat Tree House. Today I posted a little video where she lets him wash her for a few seconds.... We are doing great and hoping that all you guys with the new kittens are doing so too!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Hi Jackson, this is Lavinia from Budapest!!! Thank you so much for the video today!! We are nearly 6 weeks in with JJ and it is a success. Based on other videos of yours we have tried different tricks: I did what you actually suggested and emotionally detached myself from guilt, with my husband we both played with the cats at the same time in the same room, tried to give them treats at the same time (Charlie has never been stimulated by food, she likes strong cheddar but if she is in a mood no food works!), I have fed them at the same time patiently waiting to see if the distance from each other would shrink, and after JJ trying his smart loving movies to win Charlie's heart, a week later, something happened.... I will send you the new videos with the latest updates on them, worth watching! 😃😁
Thank you again for your brilliant suggestions as always! We are still learning from them both, at times 😊😁👍. Keep in touch!

I have to pause halfway through and thank you so much for addressing the human narration aspect of this. Im one day in to introducing the new kitten to my 3 year old boy and I’m so tied up in guilt over thinking my boy hates me now. It honestly made me cry hearing that I have to detach myself from the guilt, because it’s not helping the situation. Presently in the process of introducing a kitten to the resident feline. During one of their meetings we got a stand off where the resident just stared and growled. The kitten, being a kitten, got tired and just tucked himself in to sleep in front of the resident cat. She looked at me as though kitten had broken about 60 cat laws and got so confused that she stopped being upset and turned into a purr ball.

It only took a few weeks before they could eat next to each other, no hissing, no growling, etc. Now they play like crazy and take naps together and I know they're confident and comfortable with each other! I mean, obviously the kitten was fine and just wanted to play but my older boy needed his time and space. :) Anyway, by following your tips @Jackson Galaxy we had a successful introduction and they are super close brothers from another mother! @Cloud Strife In my case, I live in an apartment and my cats couldn't be separate when they first met. They essentially had to get used to each other but I made it a point to love on both of them equally so neither feels that I favor the other. The younger one, Heleos, isn't territorial. Serenity is however but became comfortable with Heleos because he isn't. I'm not sure how it would work with two territorial cats but I'd suggest doing it as Jackson Galaxy suggests, slowly introducing them and allowing them to get used to each others smells. Maybe get them their own cat trees so that they have their own little towers they can "control."

Switching all to schedule and big emphasis on wet food over dry, slowly transitioning, but especially for the feeding near the kitten. I love the idea of "all the best things happen near the kitten." Also have a small dog, well conditioned to his cats, via treat training. I've enjoyed base camp so much and now need to go into action with the feeding on each side of the bedroom door of base camp. For the first 8 or 9 weeks, all we did was let them get accustomed to the smell of each other with the occasional sighting through the gaps in doors etc. It was tricky, because our adult cat was itching to see what was behind the door haha. As it stands, for the past three weeks, we noticed a big change in the kitten. She wasn't as scared as we had anticipated and it looks like it's just the humans she is a little bit scared of. She will go right up to the adult cat and play with him and sniff him. I am so glad we took it extra slow, because just in the last two days, I have had both of them snuggling up on my lap... not cuddling each other yet, but still both on my lap at the same time. @@sbkmarkel Our situation was a bit worse. The resident cat was a senior and not feeling well. She decided when the kitten came that she had to move out. So I decided I had to be the big cat and put the kitten in her place. I demanded that she respect our senior cat. Gradually the senior perked up and started being more confident. They used to eat side by side and try to swipe each other's food (they obviously ate different food). It was a lot of work to make the senior cat feel comfortable and they were never friends. I figured it was enough to make sure they didn't kill each other until one day the senior cat had a massive heart attack and passed away.

Cats are no different to any other animal when it comes to relationships- they take time and sometimes, they just don't like each other enough to snuggle but, will happily coexist if they have their own space and attention times.
As long as they aren't ripping each other apart or shutting down completely- let things happen in time and allow time for trust and adjustments to a new room-mate form.

These cat introduction videos are so helpful and reassuring. I'm going to be introducing my 2 year old female cat to a new 10 year old male that I'm planning on adopting this weekend (if the meet and greet goes well). I decided that a calm senior cat would suit both me and my cat better than a kitten or a young cat. The new cat is described as being very sweet, gentle, quiet, and non-aggressive/gets along with other cats, so I'm hoping it will go well with patience and time. My cat is so chill so I think it will be ok in the long run after they get used to each other and my cat adjusts to sharing territory. Jackson I'm going to follow all the steps (without driving myself nuts because that won't help). I even have a screen door which I'm so excited about!

JJ is our Angel cat. When we brought the 3 kittens in from outside a few months ago he took them under his wing almost like if he found a purpose in life. He allowed them to "suckle" up to his belly like if they were milking their mum. He cleans them, and looks after them and if Charlie annoys him with her silly hissy attitude, then he stands up for the kittens and "batters" her. He is now almost a 6kg male cat so not so little anymore and he is our angel cat for sure.

Hello Jackson! My wife and I are big fans of your shows. So, we have to older cats, 1-F 3.5yrs old, 1-M 2yrs old. We just adopted a 9wk old Kitten this week. Prior to us doing so, we visited the owner of the kitten wearing specific clothing to let the kitten "scent" while we were playing with it. We also played videos of a kitten Mewing with the phone under the shirt, and the cats would come to the sound. They could pick up the scent and hear the sound. Knowing a cat hearing a kitten mewing in trouble or crying always brings an adult to come inspect. We brought home the kitten on Friday afternoon and have it in a separate room of the house. Our adult cats picked up on the scent and crys from the kitten and knew something was different. Leo, our Male orange tabby was not interested at all. Wide eyed, tail low, quick movement around us. Joey, the female, was acting the same for a short bit, but would stay close with tail up and answering our calls to interact with her.
My wife works from home so she has our kitten in the office with her, gated in the room and no line of sight for the cats unless they stand on the kitchen counter and see where the kitten meows are coming from. We bought a plug in pheramone calming device to help with the new scents and sounds. So far, the adult cats have been walking around the office during the day and listening and trying to see what is making the noise. We also did bring the kitten into the living room while our adult female cat was in there too. Joey did his a few times upon seeing the new kitten and Rebel (the kitten) was just playing. Joey did take a swipe at him and he backed up quick. but, Joey didn't run away. Just moved a few feet away and stayed to see what would happen.
We have tried feeding all animals from both sides of a closed door. close to smell the others but not in line of sight. The kitten don't care, but the other cats aren't feeling it. on the up side of this, our Shih-tzu dog is loving having a new friend to play with!
We are trying to move at the slow pace you talked about in your shows, trying to cross-scent and interact in a mild pace for all to accept the new smells. I have a feeling Leo (male) is going to be a bit of a hard nut to crack with the new kitten. Our shih-tzu is already defensive of the kitten if the others try to attack him, but she has always been that way with pets we have had in our family.
Any advice would help, would love to share vids of what we are doing.
Thanks for your time to read, if you can. I know you get tons of messages.

Jackson's advice worked for my previous 2 cats- (then) 4 & 3 not related, one had lived rough, the other had only ever been a house cat. It has also worked for bonding my current two, now 7 & the newbie is 14. It may take a while x reinforce the positives & what gets rewarded gets repeated.(in their behaviour).

Other times its like she hunts her down and of course they fight. I feel Iike we have tried it all. But we are always willing to try anything new. The introduction dynamic between my first two cats was quite something. But I understood it and watched.
My first cat was Dandylion, RIP, 15yrs. Got him "when the kittens were ready to leave the farm" as it were. So pretty young. About two years later I got Yawp kitty, RIP, 16yrs, from the same place at about the same age, different maternal lineage (paternal unkown in both cases).
When I first brought Yawp home, Dandy wasn't havin' it, and not just hissing. For the first week or so I'd sometimes see Yawp just sitting somewhere staring into space minding his own business, Dandy would walk by, stop, look at Yawp a few seconds, then WHAP! him on top of the head. Clawless of course. Yawp would duck down and be like, "Okay okay, I get it." soundlessly. I knew they were just "sorting out the situation." But then I have many pics of them cuddled to a furball.
I Got CRAZY lucky when I got Nippers, now about 3 yrs, a few months after Dandy died. From a different farm, Nippers was brought to me around 6 to 8 months old. First off, he immediately took to adorably nipping the tip of my nose and fingers - he still does the fingers, but sadly not the nose. He turned instead to attempting to ram his entire head up my nose. To this day. Anyhow, I digress.
SO they bring Nippers in (they had called him Lovey) and after the lovey nipping sat on the couch. Yawp came in, safely, from around the back of furniture with a clear path of escape, and they just kinda air-sniffed toward each other from a couple feet away. No hissing. Quickly direct nose-sniffing. No argument. Within two days Yawp was lovingly cleaning Nippers.
I lost Yawp to cancer about three-ish months ago. Both Nippers and I agree it's time to look for another kitten. I've applied with the local animal shelter, Mew Haven.
Another wonderful video sir, thanks! :)

Its only day 3 but I sat with the newcomer kitten on my lap 2 feet away from the both of them and gave them their favorite lickable treat without any hissing. Miracle! I’ve never had to introduce cats before but when we got our new burmese baby we had to try. We had a 1 yo rescue who is a wall flower cat so we were super worried how it was going to work out. ESPECIALLY with a burmese kitten. So I did everything JG said. I even went to the breaded a week before to rub our kittens smell on a toy and bring it home for the rescue to smell. After 2 weeks of hissing and nervousness I was ready to give up and let them “sort it out themselves” but I persisted and after about 3 weeks it happened. They started grooming eachother. My older cat took on a real mum role with her new little brother and now they are like two peas in a little cat pod. I often joke that we ended up buying a cat for our cat. So happy though. The indoor-only cat is a temporary visitor, but acts like he ownes the place(normal cat stuff), but , he launches himself in attack mode as soon as he sees the indoor-outdoor cat. I thought indoor-outdoor cat was the aggressor, until I witnessed indoor-only cat instigating every altercation. Indoor-outdoor cat is a doestic shorthair(maybe with siamese) and the indoor-only cat looks to be a dwarfed mainecoon mix. Indoor-outdoor cat is 4.5, indoor-cat, age unknown.

Day 1 was tough on my 3 year old... but mid way thru day 2 she opened up and now day 3 they are play hunting each other and trilling all over the place. Still being supervised but I definitely think she's been accepted by my older cat. (who was already a great and sweet cat)

I totally agree!! With you saying that she’s putting human terms and emotions on cat behavior which doesn’t work. You’re very right. Most cats are not doing what humans think they are and this can shape how they respond based on how you respond. A cat is a mirror of us and a reflection of their environment. They will only reflect back how they feel and it’s up to understand how to read their body language.
Signs of a cats distrust or discomfort is squinting, whiskers forward, ears back, ears going back and forth, Dilated pupils, hair standing up, puffy tail, tail between the legs, tail really low, rippling skin, ducking, hissing, avoiding, hiding, flickering tail when up at the top or the base, running away, bating, scratching places, aggression, and peeing. All or even just one of these signs are a sign of distress or a lack of trust
All cats behaviors are completely natural good or bad and are what they’d do in the wild

Honestly I'm so depressed, I introduced my two kittens to my. Older cats and they got used to em within a week, sadly one passed away due to parasites which the shelter failed to cure and kept insisting she was treated but she wasent since she had 3 types by the time she was at the ER. Even tho I had her for a few weeks, it feels like I lost a child. No more of her meowing whenever she saw me or climbing on my shoulder so she could just relax or falling asleep together. I'm gonna miss you pepper
I guess what hurts the most is knowing you could had tried more to try to save her life, or being more keen on her state of health.

Maybe you could have done more if you were a cat doc or knew what was wrong or were were a god or goddess. Seems to me that you loved the cat and the cat loved you. You were probably the best thing in Pepper's short life.

We had a farm growing up with 10-15 cats at any one time who all were indoor/outdoor/revolving door. Nobody fought, everyone was spayed/neutered, all died of old age. As an adult, I’ve always had 3-4 cats, and they’ve all gotten along, more or less. I’ve had 3 pass away, ages 24, 22, and 19. This new group w/ all this drama is bewildering for me. I’m used to being mobbed at night, one cat on my head, each side, but now Phoebe guards the hall w/a “Thou shalt not pass!” snarl. Depressing.

Just found you on the internet with "cats from hell". You seem to be a very kind and heartful guy. I like that.
I'm a cat daddy for one year now. The boy is sometimes giving me hard time not listening to what I say no to.. But they both very happy though.
    I'll keep watching.

For cats it’s literally all about trust. Trust is literally everything and how you respond is how they will respond back. I’ve had people say that’s not true then I’d see the cat and say see them responding to you, they are like oh.

That's what I'm doing right now as well. I have a 14 year old girl, who's been an only cat with me her whole life. I recently rescued and adopted a little 2 month old boy, and I feel so heartbroken that my old girl looks so angry. I hope the best for you, and I hope the best for myself as well 😭

I think the most important thing is that the senior cat has an escape or place of safety to go to away from the kitten to relax. And that you make special time for the seniors aside from kitten time. 💞😸 🐾🐾🫂

@@opalfroggy-2156 GREAT!! We were so pleased with how they responded to each other when the kitten was finally able to make contact with the older cat. They are both indoor cats and they get along fabulously! They are playmates and best friends, chase each other around, battle, and then cuddle up and groom each other. Never any antagonism or hissing. They have given us so many funny moments.

This video is so helpful! I've got two boys, who are milk-brothers (only four days apart and got milk from the same mama cat). They were bonded and best of pals.
We had to send one of them for a little trim at the groomers because he had some knots in his fur. When he came back from the groomer, his brother no longer recognized him and started hissing and growling.
We've followed your steps on how to introduce them and they are now able to eat next to each other and play in the same room. We've still got some hissing from one of them when the toys and treats get put away but it's so much better than a few days ago.
I hope we can help our boys work it out and they become best buds again. Thank you Jackson!! Don't know what we would've done without your videos.

Hi Jackson, we have always found these videos so helpful! However, the introduction videos focus on cats who are new to each other. We have been through the reintroduction process many times with our cats who are litter mates as one is more nervous and fearful and there will sometimes be redirected aggression resulting in fights. Then it takes a couple of weeks for the scared cat to trust again (we separate and reintroduce like in your videos) eventually they are cuddling up together again and grooming each other and playing again. Separation is hard because one cat will recover faster and not understand why the other is off limits! It would be good to have more tips for cats who are usually close and have been friendly for years. Also there is always tension because we don't know when I fight will happen again as it is unpredictable as to what will frighten our most nervous cat!!! Thank you ♥️

    • @farzana3233
      @farzana3233 3 года назад

When you did the reintroduction, did you give each cat a base camp and keep them there the whole time? My two cats were introduced with all the proper steps and used to cuddle and groom, but their relationship kind of soured a few months ago, so I want to try this process, but my cats have free reign of the house and definitely wont like being confined in one room.

I was not shure I was a good cat daddy when I adopted the first kitten, so I adopted the weak one because...love. We are doing good now and we are a nice trio! Jessy and Milo send you much cat mojo.
