Really enjoyed your efforts to capture this event, which was very exciting. You're obviously highly skilled both in Kayaking and video work, so well done and thanks for sharing.
Ohh that's my local river, being a Preston girl... an excellent video, I fully intend to make it to the source of the Ribble, a little stream on the side of a hill in Settle, North Yorkshire this summer. So pleased you had a good ride!! :)
That's some fine paddling in what is a potentially perilous persuit. There used be a tremendous bore on Salters bank that would unleash itself at first flood on the bar nr Salters bouy, some 40 years ago!
Nice one, just getting back into kayaking after 20 years off. This is on my list of must dos. Will pickup a sea kayak as no way could I capture the waves back in a std boat.
Beautiful run done well! A few times you turned sideways to the wave. Was that a technique to lift you a bit higher to keep from dragging on the bottom?
Sometimes that is the case yes, especially later one when it is really shallow. But it is also because the boat wants to broach on the wave at times and I so anticipate this by letting it go partly off initially. This then means I know which direction it is going to go and I only have to react to that, rather than the unpredictability of it going either way. Better to anticipate than to react.
That's some serious bore riding skills! I'm exploring and surfing all the bores around the UK, this one is on my to do list. I'm guessing low water levels are key to a good ride on the Ribble, looks too full at the moment. Maybe you'd get a good short ride at the top end where in your video it's super shallow?
Maybe, but I'm not sure. Here is a run on a day with water in the river, as you can see it faded out early: ruclips.net/video/F1U8IzdXxY4/видео.html There's only one way to find out though.
Thanks@@performanceseakayak Huge difference that one definitely a LW bore. Alot of the smaller bores around the UK also need low levels, although the Dee and Nith like a little bit of fresh. I chased the Lune once, wasn't too shabby.... again needs LW
Yes a tidal bore, here is another, slightly larger one from the River Dee: ruclips.net/video/UaawWKJFo0A/видео.html and a smaller one from Arnside: ruclips.net/video/UWDkE3seez0/видео.html
What a rush. Many of my ancestors (Wilkinson, Dewhurst, Maymond, Mercer) came from the Preston area and surrounds. What the heck was that "thing" in the water near the end?

You skillfully worked yourself of the first wave and on tothe second. You, Sir, are very skillful.
Thankyou.
That was amazing I always wanted to see the bore

Yes it can be a good one, though it varies. I grew up nr Preston so it's 'home' for us.

Nicely done. I've paddled the Dee bore at Connah's Quay but didn't know the Ribble had one before seeing this.

It is certainly something to witness :)
Well done mate ,looks like a lot of fun!
That looks great. I’m planning to kayak the Wyre Bore from Knott end at some point. Didn’t realise how fast the Ribble one could get though.
Wyre Bore is smaller and trickier, but rewarding. I go from The Shard. There is a vid or two on this channel.

The wave whisperer.
BELLISSIMO GRAZIE
AMAZING THANK U SOO MUCH

That kayak doesn't look that big... how the hell do you fit those massive balls in there??
It's bigger than it looks!😁
@@performanceseakayak that's what she said
😂
It looks fast !
Looks great pal caught the bore a few times but looks like you dropped on with that tide.
What boat are you paddling?
Rockpool Taran 16
@@performanceseakayak
Looked really stable and fast enough to keep up with the surges

What a fantastic phenomenom, you call it "a bore", right? Would love to ride it.

@@performanceseakayak Although low in adrenaline, I would love to ride that tidal bore. Thanks for sharing those as well.

That was a tree stump, lifting off the bottom as the level rose.
👏How often do you have it?
Hard to say, it depends on many factors. If the river is low you will get a bore on most spring tides, but some days it may be only small.
Very cool. What sort of distance did you travel in those 30mins?
The GPS showed 6 km / 3.5 miles.
Masterful
Thankyou.
