    Your naturally asperated 190 is just as fast as my supercharged 195. Best I've gotten is 48 mph and that was with just me and wife and a 1/4 tank of gas.
    Thanks for another great video!

      Thanks Russell, yeah for general boating the 190 does great. If you need that punch for watersports the 195 is better. The difference in fuel burn at WOT is significant though.

    I could have told you this from motorcycle experimenting many times ... Stay with OEM always ..other than that .now get rid of that stock air filter for k/n and pop out that restrictive flame arrestor ribbon as the KN has a metal screen on it to replace any back spark .. that's a test you should do and I bet you hit 50mph !!

    • @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore
      @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore  Месяц назад

      I tried Premium once, had no effect, just a waste of money, unless required with supercharged engine. I use StarTron fuel additive with every fill up.

  • @kkutube1972
    @kkutube1972 Год назад

    I think it matters if you have a supercharge. Just like a boat running 87 but I think an 89 is just for security. For my supercharge jet ski, I have to change the oil every 25 hours and the plug to inspect or replace it every 50 hours. The plug is cheap compared to the price of the ski, and since I am already removing it, I just might as well replace it.

    How is your SX 190 going that fast?I can’t get mine over 40..

    • @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore
      @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore  Год назад

      It has to be perfect conditions. Right weight on board, weather and water conditions need to cooperate and these engines like cool temperatures too. Also the post 2019 models are not as fast as the earlier models due to hull design changes.

    Can you link the oil you use and where you got that little mirror?
    I have an AR190 and I top out at 42. Wondering if the oil is the difference (or the little mirror haha).

    • @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore
      @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore  3 года назад +1

      Hey Stephen, Amsoil is generally not sold in stores but you get it directly from authorized dealers. Just Google Amsoil and you will find how to order it. It's not cheap but probably one of the best synthetic oils made today. My experience from using it versus Yamalube was the engine obtained slightly higher RPM and my top speed improved by 2-3 mph, at least that was my experience. The little mirror was a gag really. My dad bought it for his car side view mirrors but didn't want it so I found a way to mount it in the boat. Try an auto parts store perhaps. Good luck and thanks for watching!

    you run 87 octane? I assume it has ethanol in it? Did you ever consider running 91 non-oxy, especially to help with the winter storage? I run it in everything, just so I don't have to deal with starting issues after storage. Have you ever had starting issues in summer?
    Super helpful....I do believe that OEM is best.... and a service manual is gold! ha

    Iridium plugs will last 3+ times as long as those copper oem plugs before needing to be changed

  • @BoogeymanDracula
    @BoogeymanDracula 3 года назад

    It will increase . Because ignition efficiency and timing will become better. But in reality, this increase will be intangible to notice. The reason why sparkplugs are upgraded are for durability and reliability when compression ratio or fuel-air ratio is altered.

  • @ChristianGrest
    @ChristianGrest 3 года назад

    On naturally aspirated applications, I could see there being little to no difference. The biggest advantage is probably plug life. Now on forced induction the advantage would be more reliable spark with less chance of spark blow out when in boost. Just personal experience from car motors. But in the majority of instances, run what the OEM installs. No sense in re-inventing the wheel.
    Nice test by the way!
