    At the risk of mansplainin', as a cabinet builder of many decades, I can tell you that in proper drawer and box building , one brings the box sides all the way down and the bottom (and top) are "stringers", i.e., fit in between the side pieces, not under (or over). Building the drawer as you have means there is a very strong possibility the bottom will fall right out, given the size of that drawer and it's intended use. You could put 200lbs in that sucker in a heartbeat. Not extending the sides down to the bottom of the box also means that the drawer glides are far too close to the bottom edge of the drawer sides and they will also likely fail. One problem begets the other. Solution: lift the drawer glides up two or three inches to avoid screwing at the weakest possible place on the side ply. Otherwise, keep up the good work!

      Taking this tip after watching this video as well! My instinct was a solid base with sides sitting on top like the video, but I can see how that weight is now all pulling down on that base. Wondering if it's 6 or half dozen when using Kreg screws, but I'm goin to try this anyway. Thanks!

    • @christophernassopoulos2497

      @@izifaddag8221 Yes, standard drawer-build practice is to dado the bottom of the drawer into the sides (as little as 1/4" is fine). The bottom need not be 3/4", btw. For best use of wood I use 1/2" Finnish Ply for everything (NOT shitty Big Box 1/2" ply!): 1/2" sides, dado those for a 1/2" bottom, then attach glides to sides (which run full height). This "traps" the bottom piece in the dado between the sides, thus the bottom can't fall down and the glides can then screw into the side walls (and not the end grain of the bottom) as done in the above video. End grain screws - or Kreg Jig screws meant to hold up the bottom - are close to useless for large drawers. Good luck!

      @@christophernassopoulos2497 Thank you that was super helpful. I made a big mistake with a long (5') drawer that couldn't take the weight. I foolishly screwed a piece of 1/4" cheap ass ply using plentiful #6 screws into yet even more cheap ass ply only 1/2". It looked great when I did it but loaded with cans and doing some long drives it is in bad shape. I am going to make a completely new drawer system using aluminium profile but the drawers are still wood. So I think a dado and supporting separators (needed anyway) will be a vast improvement. Thanks again. Always learning and not afraid to ask.

    WARNING, The drawer slide featured in the this video does not have a load rating of 250lbs. The shorter versions (12-20 inches) of the Vadania VD2053 slides can handle that kind of weight, but the longer versions (32-40 inches) like the ones in this video have a much lower weight limit. I have put specs for the VD2053 taken from Vadania’s website below.
    32 inches (800mm) max load = 156lbs (71kg)
    36 inches (900mm) max load = 125lbs (57kg)
    40 inches (1000mm) max load = 94lbs (43kg)
    Be sure to read the Vadania’s listings in full to get the correct load rating for the length of slides you are using :)

    Excellent tutorial. I used it to install a drawer for a Dometic cooler. I have an issue with my installation: the locking mechanism on each side locks at different times when pulling the drawer out. I assume this is an indication of some type of misalignment. Furthermore, there is an annoying squeaky noise, similar to an old hamster wheel when driving on an uneven road. It is my belief that this is also a result of the same misalignment. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot the issue?

    • @vadania-us
      @vadania-us  3 года назад +1

      Hi Carlos, if they lock in different position when you pull out, I am sure that the install position is misalignment. You can try to uninstall the slides and check. Also check the sliding if they have any noise. Then will get the answer

    • @susankeiff4847
      @susankeiff4847 3 года назад

      @@vadania-us What type of misalignment is most likely? For example, one slide is farther toward the front of the drawer or cabinet than the other slide? Or could the drawer or cabinet not be square? Or the slides are not parallel to the bottom of the drawer? How do I test to find out?

    • @vadania-us
      @vadania-us  3 года назад

      @@susankeiff4847 The most likely reason should be that the slides did not install in the same level and the same position. That means the screws holes are not the same place for the two side of the sldies. So it may cause that one slides is further than the other one from the cabinet front
