Vargs dungeon synth is some of the best shit there is. Ironically it is similar to the music the japanese made for the Moomin Valley tv series from the 90's. Fittingly they're both pretty esoteric at this point, though one is dark and spiritual while the other is wholesome and lonely.

I guess it's fine for what it is but as far as music goes it's pretty unimaginative. It certainly isn't something that you would play to give you energy or feel like giving a shit about anything. He got to be one of two black metal artists to be on the first actual movie soundtrack ever and he chooses drip drip drip, dripdripdrip. Funny enough I know the first black metal band to be on a major Hollywood production and nobody even knows the song. It was the band "Fog" and the first major attempt at a true crime drama called "Bully" from 01 or 02. The director from the aforementioned movie was involved in some ways btw, plus one of his actors was in it.

Varg was the foundation of introducing those memorizing melodies into the 2nd wave, developed from Bathory. You can hear that inspiration in great bands like Windir. Varg may very well be batshit crazy, but he's one hell of a talented musician. Saying otherwise, is just being blinded by your ideologies.

    What a wild ride!
It took me over a year to put 2 and 2 together that "the black metal guy who killed his band member" was also "Varg the pagan from the alt-right".
    What a guy!

I always thought he said "this is war huh, wow" from the first time I heard it. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Plus I've always loved the ambiant parts of the black metal albums ever since I first heard them. It makes them very unique and beautiful.

Same, and it’s not just this video I’ve heard other people say they don’t know what he’s saying at the start of the song. I don’t get it are they rètärded?

I love songs like tomhet, and the 25 minute song on filosofem that has a title that’s way too long. I wish Varg would make more ambient stuff like that, rather than his newer ambient albums. Something about it makes me feel nostalgia

Been a Burzum fan since 2000/2001. I enjoy all his albums, im not joking. His later music, Daudi Balders and all the albums after that is easier to like or accept if you have some knowledge about ancient norse or germanic religion or even more ancient european origins. I happen to like his Umskiptar album alot! But my personal favorite has always been Det Som En Gang Var. And funny video!

You have to understand how magic was practiced ten and twenty thousand years ago to get the purpose of all this repitition. It's how a chant was used, so as to induce an altered state.
