you played out your pronunciation joke more times than Varg stabbed Euronymous.
I'm fucking crying man why does this have no comments
You just killed that pun......in self defense, of course. 😬
Euronymus wants to kill Varg and was an evil man
I know im randomly asking but does any of you know of a tool to get back into an instagram account..?
I was stupid lost the account password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me.
@Miller Cory instablaster =)
The vocals on the first few albums are absolutely killer, some of my favorite black metal vocals ever
Indeed. So painful... It screams suffering
Yup. He was the only black metal artist during that time period who basically just screamed bloody murder and his screams just so happen to be really painful and frightening.
The right type of crappy equipment helped too. The mic he used was in a Peavey headset
Agreed, fucking adore his screams on the first 3 albums. Also love them on the other black metal albums by Burzum but I prefer the first 3 albums screams.
I love the earlier burzum vocals
Filosofem is a fucking masterpiece
Anyone else really love all of his synth albums?
i have the opposite opinion as the video creator i like the second synth album over the first
I love them just as much as the black metal
Yes
YES
all of vargs work is amazing imo
R.I.P. Thulean Perspective!
The man is a musical genius.
Just got lucky.
He ripped off Bathory. Followed a similar path as well.
@@RossBayCult Hvis Lyset Tar Oss and Filiosofem sound nothing like Bathory. But at first i think all black metal acts ripped of bathory. Rightfully so.
@@richardroberson2564 Indeed. 'The Return...' was basically the prototype for the early second wave Norwegian scene.
@@RossBayCult bathory..are u Norwegian? Bathory blood fire and death sound like slayers hell awaits...burzum is surely had his idols but noone sounds like burzum
I listened to the entire filosofem album on acid once, and now it is one of my favorite albums ever. It was the first time I really started to appreciate rundtgaing.
I had a friend in high school who would just drop acid and then walk around the halls listening to Filosofem on loop, apparently it was a life changing experience and I kind of regret not trying it now
_Beholding the Daughters of the Firmament_ is indeed one of my favorite songs in all metal. So atmospheric, so cold, so oppressive. Out of this world indeed.
Reminds me of mambo 5
This video is actually quite well researched! Had a good laugh a few times ;-)
When you started talking about Varg as a person near the end I was literally just thinking like "yeah he's a legend, a real good dad, an excellent musi- BUUUUURRRRRRTTTTZZZZZOOOMMMMM"
Beholding the Daughters of the Firmament is by far my favorite Burzum song. It's fucking killer
Your comments are funny and accurate. I just had so much fun, especially with your input on the later albums. I love Burzum, and I guess I love Varg too sometimes, but this makes so much sense.
The correct pronunciation joke was ok the first 3 times. Oh look I'm 30 min in and he made the exact same joke 50 times....
Maybe if you removed your head from your own ass you would realize varg is purposely mispronouncing it as a joke to fuck with all you moronic blowhards.
@@DownFallNetWork As a norwegian, I believe you are wrong. Just like you mispronounce just about every single norwegian word in this video, Varg has a very norwegian pronounciation of the word Burzum. Especially the rolling r-sound is particular to his hometown of Bergen.
@@Hazding Lol you people that worship him are fucking stupid lol.
@@DownFallNetWork It's also quite close to how Tolkien pronounces words in this language that he made up and this word comes from (it's from the inscription on the ring in the Lord of the Rings). Just listen to how he pronounces Mordor in this clip: ruclips.net/video/fJlz6nEOT7w/видео.html
ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul, ash nazg thrakatulûk agh burzum-ishi krimpatul
Umskiptar in my opinion, is one of the greatest Burzum albums. Totally different from the old stuff, but WOW, in a completely different way.
Vargs dungeon synth is some of the best shit there is. Ironically it is similar to the music the japanese made for the Moomin Valley tv series from the 90's. Fittingly they're both pretty esoteric at this point, though one is dark and spiritual while the other is wholesome and lonely.
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed the similar vibes between the two
I guess it's fine for what it is but as far as music goes it's pretty unimaginative. It certainly isn't something that you would play to give you energy or feel like giving a shit about anything. He got to be one of two black metal artists to be on the first actual movie soundtrack ever and he chooses drip drip drip, dripdripdrip. Funny enough I know the first black metal band to be on a major Hollywood production and nobody even knows the song. It was the band "Fog" and the first major attempt at a true crime drama called "Bully" from 01 or 02. The director from the aforementioned movie was involved in some ways btw, plus one of his actors was in it.
Lost Wisdom. That riff just kills. So simple, clever and defiant.
Daudi Baldrs is a great album. Period.
yep
Sounds like a Monty Python skit. Like " oh those are some Daudi Baldrs on her" wink wink nudge nudge.
nah its boring. the songs are too simple & monotonous
If you like hip hop
Varg is an absolute genius, and Burzum is a gift to the world.
A modern bard
Everytime I see the album cover for "Filosofem", in the back of my mind I have a mans voice screaming from the top of a mountain, "Ricola"!!! lol RIP ThuleanPerspective \m/
Me too
Hahahahaha
Yes!!!
Man hasnt released one bad album for me personally. A legend
Wrong
All of them are bad
@drew brutal Clueless man; Varg is the seed of second wave BM.
Varg was the foundation of introducing those memorizing melodies into the 2nd wave, developed from Bathory. You can hear that inspiration in great bands like Windir. Varg may very well be batshit crazy, but he's one hell of a talented musician. Saying otherwise, is just being blinded by your ideologies.
All 23 where a slashing hits
“Even though it sounds like crap I kinda like the production” this is what I say to every black metal album.
Would have watched video but that damn burzum joke 4 times was already enough to turn me off entirely
Thx. It's awesome to see video like this.
found your content a few days ago, been binging one video after another... but this one - since burzum is one of my all time favourite black metal bands, along side with inquisition - really made laugh way to often. BURRRRRZUMMM
Great indepht review. keep em going.
Thanks \m/
I like how the "Burtzom" get's more ear-rapey
I don't hate Umskiptar (probably the weakest but not an abomination imo) but otherwise I pretty much agree with the whole video.
Umskiptar is on my top 3 of his albums. Filosofem, Belus, Umskiptar, Hvis Lyset Tar Oss and Sol Austin Mani Vestan.
Are you Kristian Christian?
@@landonharrison1343 nei, det er meg!
Alfadanz and Valgaldr, all i have to say
I don't want to ruin anyones day, but isn't "War" a tribute to Bathory? Atleast that is what Varg said on some video.
If "War" is a tribute to Bathory, then this is -huh, WOW,- a poor one. The "tortured puppy" vocals *_cough_* and shit-tier lyrics can't hold a candle to Quorthon's work.
War is a cover of Pisen pro satana.
Permaclok Black_Metal It's tribute but with a little bit of satire. It's supposed to sound like shit
The riff used in War was first used by czech band RooT on Píseň pro Satana. Check out Hřbitov (cemetery) song it has heavy riff as well.
Viimane It wasn't. I highly doubt Varg even know or listen to that band. Hell, that band probably just copy riff from bathory song.
I love your in depth discography. Subscribed.
Best retrospective ever!
finally the long awaited Burzum retrospective !
György Hirschléger this is my favorite video I've made so far so I hope it was worth the wait
yes !!!
this song you played here die liebe nerpus i caught that in your mayhem video!
I can't even remember what song that is, what time stamp
when Varg said that hi took it quiet seriously that euronymous was going to kill him .
Euronymous said he wanted people to commit suicide listening to black metal, well Burzum actually accomplished it.
Because yeah I do want kill myself now after the ambient tracks.
But for real, some of Vargs music is literally designed be played while actually playing roleplaying games.
hTe repetition just builds an atmosphere you can talk over while doing stuff like dungeon diving in D&D.
Yeah I like playing minecraft while listening to his synth albums lol
Varg saved bm by killing that short edgelord.
Its a great unnoficial Demons souls soundtrack tbh
I think the guys from enslaved are the only people who knew him that speak well of him. He seems to have pisses everyone off. @@followdanger890
@@followdanger890😂
I know a lot of people don't care for it, but I love the first two "dungeon synth" albums. But, as you said, throw it on while you're doing something for background noise, and it's not bad. I would listen to it while I would draw or paint. Solid video.

is an amazing piece of work
Good video, interesting throughout with good overview of the black metal scene and varg himself with some good humour mixed in, listened to twice now
nice one
I appreciate the ending... thank you for that
I don't get why people get butthurt when its repetitive. That's just how black metal is... or at least the true black metal.
Surely you meant *trve* black metal
@Aaron u heard like 4 genres?
@@wenqiweiabcd That is such gatekeeping wankery.

@Cult Mechanicus lol. Why are you listening to pagan music if you're opposed to it?

@@RatbagTheCoward yeah, you're right.
Imagine actually being christian
@@riple4360 Christianity hasn't been practiced for like more than a thousand years, same with "paganism". The first christian sects were awaiting Nero to start the Armageddon (who was the "original" Antichrist to the first Christians) in the catacombs, using the fish symbol as meeting point so they could have "freesex/freelove" orgies.

I was never sure how to properly pronounce Burzum. Thanks for the help!
According to Varg himself (which might be harder to find since his youtube account was deleted) War was a Bathory tribute and the "This is war! Huh. Wow." Is a mockery of the trend black metal bands at the time used to say the names of their songs at the beginning of their songs.
OMG LOL
the subtitles called him Count Griffin Snatch LMMFAO
this video is great. thanks.
Great stuff! keep going
Hilarious work man. Ooooooooooh 😂
I ordered his book. It's like DND with realistic violence. They say he tested most of the scenarios. There's a video of him tryin to swim in amor

I'm gonna watch this but I need to take a shit first
I've just finished my shit I'll start watching now
Me too
wtf how long that shit was
okie dokie
I started watching this then saw your comment...caught me off guard and laughed myself to the toilet...nearly made it too.
lmao that meme intro is the best
pls make a burzum meme video
Norwegic? Didn’t know that was a word😂.
I'm norwegian. I've never heard that. You say things in norwegian not norwegic.
That's a bit he does where he pronounces stuff like an uneducated american and people go insane in the comments.
Burzums "ambience" is propably intended to make trance like state to listener.
All his albums are fantastic in their own way.The ways of yore is one of my favorite, hence I've made covers of most of the songs on that album.
Varg said his music was "anti-black metal" but the irony is that it became the gold standard for black metal and every other band after him would try to copy it.
Jesus Tod definitely my favorite burzum song too!
I love Burzum and Varg, but that cut when he says BURCUM just has me every time! :D great video btw!
also the long repetitive songs and riffs attempt to symbolize the hypnotic nature of black metal in my opinion :)
Tomhet is pure genius.
Means Emptiness, btw.
I tried to watch this but couldnt get passed the first 20x he said burzum.
It got annoying really really fast
Making a black metal video is a death sentence. Lots of correct opinions. Loved it.
What a wild ride!
It took me over a year to put 2 and 2 together that "the black metal guy who killed his band member" was also "Varg the pagan from the alt-right".
What a guy!
I always thought he said "this is war huh, wow" from the first time I heard it. 🤷🏻♂️
Plus I've always loved the ambiant parts of the black metal albums ever since I first heard them. It makes them very unique and beautiful.
It's actually pronounced that way
Same, and it’s not just this video I’ve heard other people say they don’t know what he’s saying at the start of the song. I don’t get it are they rètärded?
I always imagined it being "This is for her, war"
Umskiptar helped me bridge the gap to get into his older Black Metal songs, so I quite like it.
Cool video - you know how to entertain one. Had to laugh multiple times for your Burzum pronunciation clips ;-)
The first two minutes had me rolling bro thank you 💀
Personally i love "alfadanz" from Umpskiptar
I keep coming back to this video for the lols

Seems like alot of people claiming to tell the story of black metal in any mass don't understand a drop of the genre.
´This is ... huh ... Epic !`
LMAO Love this vid
I love songs like tomhet, and the 25 minute song on filosofem that has a title that’s way too long. I wish Varg would make more ambient stuff like that, rather than his newer ambient albums. Something about it makes me feel nostalgia
Listen to the soundtrack for the moomins. Not kidding.
Bring back The Thulean Perspective
Been a Burzum fan since 2000/2001. I enjoy all his albums, im not joking. His later music, Daudi Balders and all the albums after that is easier to like or accept if you have some knowledge about ancient norse or germanic religion or even more ancient european origins. I happen to like his Umskiptar album alot! But my personal favorite has always been Det Som En Gang Var. And funny video!
great intro
A song ahead of it's time. EA, Lord of the depths. It should be their new slogan
Did anybody just say Burrrrrzum? Let's find out!

Dude...that BUUURRTTZZOOMM thing never gets old!!! Great Man!!
You have to understand how magic was practiced ten and twenty thousand years ago to get the purpose of all this repitition. It's how a chant was used, so as to induce an altered state.
Umskiptar is my favorite album from any band. I feel so alone with this:) Other than this misalignment I really liked the retrospective.
It's the perfect "nordic mythology themed" metal album. All attempts by other bands sound soulless in comparison.
Also one of my favorite albums of all time.
I like Burzum, very atmospheric melancholic and epic.
Dude fucking stellar!
filosofem opening track is really nice
fun fact, his main synth in the early (off prison) albums was a casio cz series, most probably a cz5000, but could be also cz101..
Cool, I always wondered what he used.
The start had me in tears god damn 💀
Burzum is perfect being in the snow music
Where is the mayhem retrospective?
