His spells are a lot more visual in legends as opposed to his own show. I think they probably made it more flashy to make it more new 52 John Constantine while in his own show he was more classic hellblazer relying on his manipulation skills more than actual magic. Either way I love Matt Ryan as John and I still miss him.
