I was born in the 80s and lived in the area my whole life. The changes I've experienced as been astronomical!. The Stratford Centre in "old Stratford" was always there and still an amazing shopping experience. The place in the mid 90s was a dump, but when they updated the train and bus station in 96, that was the beginning of all the changes. I used it every day to go schools. I suppose Stratford became accessible for travel. When the Olympics were announced in 2004, I was working part time at my local leisure centre and was part of the celebrations. The house prices probably quadrupled in price since the 80s at that point. And then Westfield shopping came along which brought the most significant change to the area in 2011. Apart from the lack of clubs, it literally has everything you will need, bars, pubs, food, clothes, cinema, etc. West ham changed stadiums and jumped onboard. Since the noughties, the house price further doubled! I've seen it all and proud of my roots in Stratford
I was born 1945 and it has changed so much I was so in awe when I visited 2014. I still saw where I lived but house gone but I could still recognize the street in Abbey Lane E15 my school gone. I had such a good childhood. We used to call it the sewer bank now it's called gardens or something it's near fly over going to Bow. Had some great fun sliding down the sewer bank it still looks same. Thank you for showing Stratford again it was lovely GOOD MEMORIES.
Very informative video! I'm currently taking an Urban Planning course at Soka University of America and we used it as an introduction to our session on the aftermath of the London Olympic Games.
My maternal grandparents bought their first residence in Startford after emigrating from Jamaica (1961)?. That is also my mother primary dwelling after her immigration from Jamaica in 1966 (Warwick Road).
I should've stayed in East London! I was born and raised there! And I'm now stuck in the blandest part of Oldham called Royton (aka Cr*pton!) - I moved to that area on the basis of someone's so-called "recommendation" and there's no proper Carribbean, Jewish and Polish bakeries in Oldham (aka Bl**dy Awkward!) and I really miss eating in a London pie and mash shop and I'd have to place an order for a box of authentic pie and mash online!
Hi Dwayne! I have both bought and been through all the tracks in your LDN districts albums and can’t seem to find this one 😬 any possibility you could point me to it? Thanks a lot! Big respect ✊
Those altercations like the one at the beginning are so awkward and all too common. Now that summer is just days away, can I request that you also name any recurring local events of an area?
That lady who doesn't understand what one way is was plain rude. Great video
Oh she understands!
Welcome to London!
Facts
Your voice is smooth and therapeutic to listen too, great video
Thanks Simone!

You might like the Bow episode. We touch on a little Stratford history there aswell. Thank you for the extra history on this.
I have known Stratford for a long time since 1996. The area was a right dump back in the 1990s. It seems to have improved a lot since then.
These videos calm me and make me feel cozy and at home
Another fascinating and professionally put together video. Thanks. 😎👌
Glad you enjoyed it, stay tuned.
Dewyne Lindsay nice one. 👌😎

I have lived in Uk for 4 years..1.5 years in london. Miss it so much
Enjoyed that. You missed a bit of local history at Maryland point. The Cart & Horses pub there is famous for early gigs by Iron Maiden.
Your videos are excellent, and you accompany them with your wonderful voice
You are too kind. Thanks for the comments. I trust you have subscribed, keep watching.
@@LondonDistricts Yes, I did. Kind regards from Argentina
