Really, cooking a meal in 20 minutes with ingredients you might not like is not the best approach?
    Who would have known..... :)

My brother and sister have anxiety/depression problems and panic attacks.
I think this is a great idea.
Instead of focusing on their anxiety, they focus on cooking. That way, they've calmed their nerves and made a delicious meal.
I have ADHD, so cooking helps me focus on the task and my mind isn't thinking of 50 different things at once. And I LOVE cooking and entertaining.
This is why I also have puzzles, HOG's, an old cartoon collection and a library with over 1,600 books.
I have many ways to help me keep focused.
    Cooking is my favorite way.

A lot of professional high end chefs do actually have rough backstories and food was their relief from the world. Fun fact

It's just different challenges involving food. Not sure why they are characterized as lies. You're really running out of content.

Usually, when I’m running low on money and groceries, I get really creative in the kitchen!! Sometimes I surprise myself (pleasantly)!

Who ever believed this supposed "lies" to begin with? I think anyone who's ever been inside a home kitchen knows that most people don't have blast-chillers, anti-griddles, deep friers, and ice cream machines at home. I think we all know that most people aren't preparing all their own sauces like mayonnaise from scratch. Anyone who cooks knows that speed does equal skill, and that low and slow is sometimes better for certain kinds of foods. Even the chefs will point that out often. All of these points are moot cause I don't think anyone who's been in a home kitchen believes any of this or thinks the producers/judges of chopped intend for us to believe this is how everyday cooking is done.

What is a wrong with chopped
1 - The judges vote with preference not on actual skills. For example if a judge doesn't like raw onions or preference for a certain doneness liking medium rare, but the person cooks the steaks well done then claims its overcooked.
2 - They say you have to use all the basket ingredients and someone uses all of them but doesn't make it a staring feature and then someone forgets an ingredient and they cut the guy who didn't make the ingredient front and center instead of the one who forgot to put it on.
3 - Cutting a person because they said it was a take on a dish but it doesn't in their opinion accurate. For example saying that this is a beef lettuce tacos, but to them it is a beef lettuce wrap, just because it doesn't fit as a taco cut them even if other people are worse.

There are just so many times you can watch people make a gourmet dish of of sardines and candy canes-it gets old really fast.

I was amazed when I saw an okie ranch mother featured on food network. It was funny and humbling at the same time. There are lots of women like her around that don’t have the tech savvy to do what she has done. A funeral dinner or lunch at a local church will yield as good or better than she does.

I miss the old Food Network.
Now, it's more like a Game Show Network.
I'm glad 'Good Eats' and '30 minute meals' are back.
I watch those and Ina Garten and 'The Pioneer Woman'.
The only competitions I watch are Halloween Wars, Holiday Wars and the seasonal Baking Championships.
Because they only air during a specific holiday.
Now, it's mostly DDD and GGG. Marathons of them. Day in and Day out.
      I miss 'Unwrapped', too.

I'm actually a big fan of DDD since it has introduced me to different foods from all over the states and many of them are not 5 star restaurants or to expensive to replicate since most ingredients can be sourced. I also like GGG since you get to see full creativity and restriction or plays in substitution that help us viewers understand how flavor combos can work. In respect of the channel I don't watch it any more, I just use the channel app and I access with my tv subscriber credentials and watch what I like when I feel like it.
