You've made so much progress in three years. So cool to see your climbing evolve over that time and heres to many more boulders and projects and falls (fingers crossed real sooooon). x
Of all bouldering video's I've binge watched during this period of isolation this one got to me the most, because it's super relatable, it reminded me of my own climbing progression! Also I love how in your videos the way you spend time editing in all kinds of animations and other details.. they must be super time consuming to do all the time...
You prolly dont give a damn but does anyone know a method to get back into an Instagram account?? I somehow forgot the password. I love any tricks you can give me.
Watching this is so bittersweet! It makes me miss climbing a lot and yearn for more 'normal times'. That said, thank you for sharing your progress with us! I think it's really cool that you have footage of your journey (as you mentioned yourself, I often wish I took more videos of myself when I first started climbing, just to see more of that progress). Good luck with grad school, btw :)
super video!! I think this is one of the best youtube videos with tips for beginners without being a classical video of tips. you clearly identify many of the learning techniques we need to aim for, progressively and in a realistic way; I got to know a lot of climbing terms because of it (like contact strength, crimps, body tension, slopers). plus it is super inspiring to watch for me, as a girl learning bouldering. thank you!!
I’ve been watching your videos for a couple months now, I started climbing last year in June but didn’t really get into it till around November. I really enjoy watching your videos. I climb in OC so when I made my way to LAB for the first time it was super exciting, having seen you climb there many times. I can’t wait to climb again, I’ve been missing it so much I started watching my own climbing videos from my first day climbing... I ended up making a short video just stitching together my own climbing progression going from v0-v5 which I posted today. I’m not a content creator, but I felt the need to share my own journey because I’m a bigger guy so learning to climb wasn’t easy, but it was extremely rewarding. So when I saw this video from you it was super cool. Keep up the great work, love the videos!
Glad I’ve been able to watch you progress so far in the last three years. Can’t wait to see where you’re at in another 3 :) Also, I had almost forgotten about that USC wall. Disgusting. Thanks for the reminder.
These videos have been awesome to watch. I recently switched sports due to injuries and have taken up bouldering. I just got my first v3-v4 ( my gym grades them on a sliding scale). It’s been super fun improving and watching how you improved as well. I’m still amazed by some of the athletes in my gym who climb v8s and hang on to holds that look to small or sloppy to ever grab. Thanks for your vids. They put a smile on my face 🙌🏻
I loved this! I began uni last September and joined a climbing society, and I was shocked at how much I enjoyed it. Seeing your progress makes me feel like I can and will improve soon enough, lots of love from Wales x
As someone just starting. I only got to use my membership once before the gym temporarily closed due to Covid. This is very motivating and I can't wait to get back on the wall!!
Nice Jenn! You started about a year and a half before me, so you have kind of become my mile marker for progression in bouldering. It's cool to see all of that compressed here into one video. It's crazy how far we can go based off our simple passion for climbing!
I'm a few months into my climbing journey and still learning. How you explained the troubles of getting past certain points exactly explains what I'm going through (not being strong enough yet to do some moves etc), and it's really comforting to hear and remind myself that it's all a big journey, and I should not be so impatient!
0:27 I remember the USC wall! I used to climb there in sneakers, before I got a Touchstone membership. It's gone now. (Replaced with a racquetball court, I think?) I also remember that yellow v3 on the barrel at 9:17 -- felt hard for a v3! Took me multiple tries to not fall at the same spot where you fell (it was a reachy slopey-pinch, needed to use momentum to get to it). Anyway, great compilation. Really cool to see your progress and it gives me hope. I started in November 2018 and I feel like I'm progressing on a similar trajectory so it's inspiring to see someone a little ahead! Of course, like you say at the end, there are ups and downs and plateaus, but I think getting out from the downs gets quicker each time, and the overall progress is clear.
I feel the struggle. on top of this corona kafuffle, I fell off the bouldering wall, (that I worked at before being laid off) rolled my ankle and tore the ligaments in my foot. I guess if there ever was a good time to get a climbing injury it's now though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ amazing video as usual by the way!
This was such a cool video with some amazing edits! I wish I had recorded myself from when I started, because watching progression is just so interesting. Keep up the great work Jenn!
Hey Girl, missed your content ❤️ after two years of climbing I too felt that 2020 was gonna be year. I wanted to do a lot more Sport climbing and losing weight to then be able to get my boulder and sportclimbing trainer license at the end of the year. Meh 😕 before the gym shutdown I just had two weeks to climb after a 5 week long break due to a foot injury. This helps a little, because I already saw how fast you can built up again. I could totally see myself in this video. Especially the point where I didn’t want to improve my climbing and just do it for fun. Now I got a totally different mindset. Also not trying hard enough and not committing a lot :D you’ve improved so much, this was awesome to see 🧗🏻♀️💪🏻
Thanks Jenn so much for sharing this. A good reminder that progress takes time and patience, especially if you can't climb every other day. You've been a very steady source of climbing tips and encouragement while learning to climb this past year plus.
Thank you for this video. You were one of the first channels I found when I was researching climbing. I started climbing in Nov 2019, and I haven't been back since then (due to school ending in dec & the gym being an hour away) but I'm really missing it and am going to make it a thing to do during my downtime in the fall semester.
I love your videos! I just started climbing in december 2019 & have been watching your videos since then! It's super encouraging to see how you've progressed and I can't wait til this pandemic ends so I can get back on the wall. I never thought I'd miss a gym so much lol
i love watching this!!! i wish i had videos of me when i first started climbing- this reminds me i need to force my boyfriend to film me more once the gyms reopen :)
Love this video! We actually started climbing in a similar time frame (Dec. 2016 going into Jan 2017 for me)! It is fun to notice that starting places can be so different, I was naturally more into overhangs and felt more natural on them than slabs! Fun to see another point of view in climbing progression. Hope your quarantine is going well and y'all are safe!
This is so inspiring! ❤ Honestly, I love climbing because even when I'm not in the mood of trying, I still sorta try because it's too fun! Cheers and love from Italy ❤
After a year of being off the wall because of a wrist surgery I had, i cant wait to get back climbing! I have started working on the hang board again. Thanks for listening to my life sotry
Great to see your progress. I have been climbing 3 times longer than you and only about a half a grade ahead of you so go you! but truly. If gyms are closed the rest of 2020 and outside is not a safe option, what are you training plans/weekly schedules/training goals for the next few months? I suggest adding pinch block (assuming you already hangboarding and core and stretching is some fashion, which I would like details and your always optimistic insights) to work on pinch strength on contact strength on slopers.
awww yis we love to see that improvement - also! i just remembered one of the two times i've been to lab one of the songs you use in your videos came up and i was like omg... i feel her presence (in a totally non-weird way)... lmao
I almost didn't click on the video because this is basically torture when all gyms are closed, but then I thought it would also feel shitty not to get any views on your videos. So here I am. I have no regrets, good stuff.
The first image that came to mind when seeing your outfit on the 03/14/19 climb was PaRappa the Rapper. 😂 The orange beanie is to blame. Please don’t be offended. On a second note, I like your content. I especially like showing it to my girls (7,8,10) who have recently gotten into climbing. Keep up the good work! 😁
Thanks. Really cool to see the progress. Did you find the videoing yourself and reviewing it really helped your progress? I would imagine it must’ve. Wondering if I need to do this as I approach my second day of climbing?
I know this video was posted awhile ago, but do you have any tips for filming yourself while climbing? I go to the gym with my best friend and I would love to start a channel/just document my progress but I'm nervous about others watching me or him making fun of the idea lol. He's definitely a stronger climber than I am since he's been climbing for a lot longer than I have so I'm not sure if he'd want to document his progress as well? Any tips would be super welcomed :)
Yo are you in Austin, TX? I’m visiting friends their in September and I wanna visit a gym on my trip for some climbing. I’m just getting into it! I saw Crux which looked pretty rad. Any recommendations?
Hey I really like your videos. I just started climbing and I’m curious when you started in 2017, how did you know what you needed to work on to get better and how often did you climb back then?
i love this video! i've always wanted to make one but i have barely any footage from when i first started so you probably wouldn't even see my progress lol
Your progression is really motivating, how frequently did you go each year (approx)? I started in Jan and only get time to visit once a week, but for 3-4 hours, worried that by the time we're let out again I'll be back to square one!
yeah i was gonna call out the soft grading but where I'm from its ruthless the grading, but what I was more annoyed at was that you have a wall at your uni that's unfair i want one but its good to see new people climbing even though I haven't been at it for to long either
Still mind-blowing seeing The Pantones in this vid. It's actually my cousins' band (who are unfortunately not active rn 😔) and they were super stoked to find out. *Copyright strike?* (jkjk

Who else misses climbing? :(
Chill dude
🥺 having trouble getting up the stairs at this point
yess uhh im not allowed to go because of covid and i could feel myself get weaker everyday
You prolly dont give a damn but does anyone know a method to get back into an Instagram account??
I somehow forgot the password. I love any tricks you can give me.
@Milan Omari instablaster =)

The music in the beginning gives me big Smiths vibes, absolutely love it, and love seeing your progress!

its so weird to hear music i listen to in a climbing video lol. always catches me off guard but i love it
ahhh you’ve improved so much!

amazing video as usual by the way!
Brit boy 2009 haha same happened to me. Broke my ankle while bouldering and the timing was just on point
missing climbing so much, your progress is great!! very encouraging to watch, can't wait to get back to it and improve myself :')
This was such a cool video with some amazing edits! I wish I had recorded myself from when I started, because watching progression is just so interesting. Keep up the great work Jenn!

Always so fun to watch you climb Jenn! Gonna start working on my progression video this weekend 😬

Oh my gosh you’ve improved so much!! Keep going strong!
This video is so awesome! I’ve been on a similar journey this past year and looking at all the clips makes me so sad the gyms are closed 😓
This is so inspiring! ❤ Honestly, I love climbing because even when I'm not in the mood of trying, I still sorta try because it's too fun! Cheers and love from Italy ❤
Your channel has so much personality and is so much fun! I did watch to the end, thanks for your light and the same from me.
After a year of being off the wall because of a wrist surgery I had, i cant wait to get back climbing! I have started working on the hang board again. Thanks for listening to my life sotry
This channel introduced me to good climbing vibes but also to TV Girl which is double good vibes

Lovely video, Jenn. It's awesome to see your progression and I'm sure for you too!

How could anybody not like you and not like your vids??? You're a good egg Jenn.
Thanks. Really cool to see the progress. Did you find the videoing yourself and reviewing it really helped your progress? I would imagine it must’ve. Wondering if I need to do this as I approach my second day of climbing?
Woah I'm so glad this showed up in my recommended, I'm a new climber and this makes me hopeful i can improve too!

Came here for the climbs. Staying for the soundtracks. Solid climbs still! 😁
15:30 "flashing right before your eyes" I see what you did there :D
i love this video! i've always wanted to make one but i have barely any footage from when i first started so you probably wouldn't even see my progress lol
Love watching progression videos considering at this stage I can barely climb V1s
Your progression is really motivating, how frequently did you go each year (approx)? I started in Jan and only get time to visit once a week, but for 3-4 hours, worried that by the time we're let out again I'll be back to square one!
Man, miss the content. Hope all is good
Love this video!!!! I'm happy now!!!
Big fan of the editing.
I'd love to keep watching but its too sad rn =( saved for after quarantine
she did it in 15 minutes! gives me hope too:)
yeah i was gonna call out the soft grading but where I'm from its ruthless the grading, but what I was more annoyed at was that you have a wall at your uni that's unfair i want one
but its good to see new people climbing even though I haven't been at it for to long either
such a great video!
Love the technical knee at 2 mins :-)
Jenn, do you think that video taping yourself has helped you improve? I’m really trying to improve and I’m wondering if that helps.
Did you play any sports before climbing?
Tarzan: "You Jane. Swing with me."
Some of the routes are soft, but the progress is real! Great work!
2:16 the circuit ahhh that place rocks!
I spy the Circuit in SW Portland! That's my home gym :)
a nice motivating video!
gotta love the gopro segment on this, if only it was longer :(
The tape system... good old times
OMG YOUR FIRST CLIMB WAS AT MY GYM IN ATX!!!
I miss falling as much as I miss getting to the top.

Still mind-blowing seeing The Pantones in this vid. It's actually my cousins' band (who are unfortunately not active rn 😔) and they were super stoked to find out. *Copyright strike?* (jkjk
Greetings from Russia! You're very cool! We have seen great progress in three years. You're interesting to watch.
what gym is that! looks pretty sick
2020 can still be your year
Good job!
THE PANTONES
Keep it up!!
This was basically me but I was at cliffs the past 3 years and rarely would go to LAB.
badass!
Hey do you remember what gym you climbed at in Portland? It didn’t look like my gym.
That was circuit SW!
Kelsey Marsh ah I go to the circuit NE!
nice timing with the music
i miss climbing sooo much :(
this is great
The fire hydrant pole route looks at least a V5
Wow UCSF is a great school! Congratulations on deciding to pursue a PhD!
I miss climbing😭
starting from 0, Me: your back muscles.:0
👍
ugh I wish my progression was this linear- I was plateaued for five years
great vid! your gym still grades soft though lol..
damnnn your gym is awesome
Cool you’ve improved so much
Wow im early
