      Hey I’ve got some really great news to share with you, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on a cross and resurrected on the third day so you may all have eternal life. If you believe and repent of your sins and put your faith and trust in Him as you would a parachute jumping off a plane at 25000 feet up in the air, He will give you eternal life in heaven as a free gift and I promise you, He will change your life forever as He did mine. He is the ONLY way to heaven and He loves you all. Please think deeply about this with urgency because this is your eternal life and soul, you don’t know when you could die, meaning you could die at any moment, so please consider this with all your heart. If anyone tells you that Jesus isn’t the only way, they are lying to you and they don’t care about your future.

      How hard would it be for someone like me who doesn’t have IT experience to get my foot into the Cybersecurity career. Recently caught my wife cheating so I divorced her and now I’m fired up for a new career, could I finish a boot camp or cert and get working within 6 months? I don’t have any duties except to my dog and working. The rest of my hours I plan on spending learning and doing what I need.
      Is this feasible?

My cousin passed his CCNA cert exam 3 years ago, no background or college experience, and he works for Microsoft now (he even survived the layoffs). If you passed the CISSP exam at some point then you clearly had the knowledge to work in the field. Some jobs will require this but some won’t. You might look for something that doesn’t and build up your experience base again and get up to date on the latest trends. The good news is that there are many different paths you could take. I only really know the one I took and that will definitely not be typical for the vast majority

A piece of advice , Just don't be demotivated because your peers are into the hot domains like software engineering or ML and you're good to go... All the best with whichever choice you make!!

    Thanks for the info.
    However, I have a question .... Security+ needs 2 yrs experience to get the cert, as an entry level where do you get the 2 yrs from considering one is very green/straight from undergraduate?.

      This is the perpetual catch-22. Internships or other entry-level jobs are one option. I hope to do a follow up video talking a bit about this

      I feel like the 2 years of experience REQUIRED is a bit misleading, hence I have my Sec+ and earned it back in January, now graduating with my AAS in Information Systems Technology. Anyone can take the Sec+, but the two years is recommended.

    What would one be doing whilst getting the credentials? As in for experience, would we need to find some job in the field that is related to cyber security and once we have at least security + then we can start looking at the entry jobs on cyberseek?

    • @jeffcrume
      @jeffcrume 10 месяцев назад

      These could be done simultaneously. Get an entry level job that doesn’t require credentials and then gain experience while learning and pursuing certifications

    I have some questions if anyone cares to answer. I used to work as a Web Scraper (10 months), learned a little bit of programming, mainly JavaScript, then started learning some QA, and now I recently started a course on Udemy called "The Complete Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) course ISC2 '23". I have very little experience working and from reading requirements on job posts, I'm kinda losing hope a little bit in this Cybersecurity stuff cause it seems that people really need to know a lot of things in order to land a job in this field, like they sort of need to be a jack of all trades. I wonder if it's worth it to spend time learning about this or if I should just focus on QA as it it way more straightforward.
    Like my main concern is that this single course won't be able to compress all the knowledge I need in order to land an entry level job in Cybersecurity, whereas QA doesn't really force you to study other things, except for maybe a programming language at a basic level if you're going for Automation, which is again, pretty straightforward as they'll just specify what language and what program they will be using at the job.

      It all depends on what your goals are and only you can determine that. There’s definitely a lot to learn in cybersecurity, but, for me, that’s what makes it interesting

    With the CISSP employers will accept an Associate, in lieu of having 5 years of experience, and just let you work the 4 to 5 years there for the full certification.

    I have two questions on the subject: 1- In 10 years, can AIs replace or take over many vacancies in cybersecurity? 2- Do you think doing comptia+, NDE, DFE, cloud+ would already be enough certifications to enter the market as a junior? what salary to expect?

    • @jacobmyers5936
      @jacobmyers5936 Год назад +6

      to answer 1: we already use AI based detection in cybersecurity. SCAP, Machine learning, etc. they can and do produce false positives, so their will always be a need for CyS Professionals.

    • @Aconicthefirst
      @Aconicthefirst Год назад +9

      @@jacobmyers5936 Excellent response. Cybersecurity will never be replaced by AI since it requires human qualities such as thinking, empathy, and leadership.

    • @jeffcrume
      @jeffcrume Год назад +3

      At this point, the number of unfilled cybersecurity jobs is so great that we don’t need to even begin worrying about AI replacing them all. Secondly, unless and until AI gets vastly better than it seems it will be in the foreseeable future, we are still going to need humans making the tough decisions, weighing pros and cons of responses, building secure architectures, etc.

    • @jeffcrume

      Some of the more advanced creds require experience but entry level carts do not. Start with the latter and advance to the former
