Zero fluff and extremely informative. Thank you for this video and I look forward to seeing more.
Thanks for the kind words!
Great tips for all aspiring Sec professionals. Thank you 😊.
Jeff, thank you very much for taking the utter mystery out of getting into Cybersecurity, and not only that, but presenting the facts in a fun, straightforward way! Have already been enjoying the Coursera IBM Cybersecurity course -- great work, all of you!
Snarky, I’m so glad to hear you found the video helpful and are enjoying the Coursera course. Best of luck to you!
Hey I’ve got some really great news to share with you, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on a cross and resurrected on the third day so you may all have eternal life. If you believe and repent of your sins and put your faith and trust in Him as you would a parachute jumping off a plane at 25000 feet up in the air, He will give you eternal life in heaven as a free gift and I promise you, He will change your life forever as He did mine. He is the ONLY way to heaven and He loves you all. Please think deeply about this with urgency because this is your eternal life and soul, you don’t know when you could die, meaning you could die at any moment, so please consider this with all your heart. If anyone tells you that Jesus isn’t the only way, they are lying to you and they don’t care about your future.
Damn... straight to the point. Respect my guy
I think this video is the best I've seen, amazing - narrative was very specific to the point , very much motivating...Thanks Jeff
Thanks so much for the kind complements!
I have my security+ and I'm working on gaining a year of experience as a Service Desk Analyst which I am 6 months in. Thank you for this video because I huge part of trying to build a cybersecurity career path feels like demystifying the fog of knowledge.
How was the Sec+? I have started the ISC², but I think I need to focus on the Sec+ first
Did you get your service desk analyst position with the security+?
How hard would it be for someone like me who doesn’t have IT experience to get my foot into the Cybersecurity career. Recently caught my wife cheating so I divorced her and now I’m fired up for a new career, could I finish a boot camp or cert and get working within 6 months? I don’t have any duties except to my dog and working. The rest of my hours I plan on spending learning and doing what I need.
Is this feasible?
@@erko78 sorry to hear that brother but yes you can. My cousin passed his CCNA cert exam 3 years ago, no background or college experience, and he works for Microsoft now (he even survived the layoffs). I’m studying right now and am getting COMPTIA certs for my career path and I suggest you either go with CompTIA certs or a CCNA course to get your foot in the door.

I very much appreciate an easy to digest video that breaks things down in way such as this. Currently working on my google cyber certification and then will likely take the security+ exam. Super excited. I’m eager to learn!
So glad you are enjoying these videos!

Ever since I started my IT journey, I’ve wanted to be a cybersecurity professional. I’ve been taking my first steps these last few months.
This is too far the best systematically explained video on how to start your career in cybersecurity. thank you!!!
Thanks so much for saying so!
Neat an clean guide. Thanks mate!
Clever money animation in the beginning. My 1st time hearing about Cyberseek as well.
We have a guy in the studio that does the filming, editing and artwork. He’s awesome!
Fantastic short and sweet overview 👏🏻 Cheers🎉
Straghtforward. To the point.
Love it. Thank you.
Thank you sir! Very informative! Good luck to everyone!
Thank you so much. This is really helpful and informative. I’m going to start my cybersecurity journey start this evening.
Hope you made it by now brother
Love his delivery!
Currently at my community college dual majoring CS and cyber security. I'm very excited for the future.
Sounds like your future is very bright, indeed!
Thank you for giving us a clear and concise explanation.
You’re most welcome!
True. I’ve been looking into mostly the government locations near my home that are local.
Great and honest information! Thank you👍💯
Great and honest information. I wish there were an avenue for CISSP associate or ISC2 associate to have to have more real job opportunities. I will look more into the IBM cert since IBM has by far the best teaching resources
The Security+ cert from CompTIA is the most popular version of that. Also, I believe ISC2 offers an SSCP cert, which is more entry level, but I don’t believe it is as widely recognized.
@@jeffcrume I agree
Nice update! Thanks.
This is really helpful. Well done
7 years working in cybersecurity and I love it. Ceh, sec+, cisa, and now working on cissp
Suggest some free course
What do u like about it?
@Rgasta I like everything about it. I started as a penetration tester and did that for 3 years and now I work in blue team(defense) initiatives. I am also responsible for SOC, compliance, regulation and audit initiatives.
@Bibhudutta Nayak no thank you. What worked for me may not work for you. And most of the courses I used were purchased
@@huli2179 can you mention which were the courses you took? Can i self learn and land a job in cybersecurity?
Thank you man, your really showing that you enjoy the field and enjoy introducing new comers to it. 😁
Thank you for saying so! I really do enjoy the field I work in and hope to share that passion with others
it is such simple direct videos that earn a subscribe. thank you
I wish I had such a clarity 10 years ago
OMG, this is GOLD! Thank you so much.
You are most welcome, Sandra!
Thankyou so much for this incredible video. Still learning and seeking for entry level, I will see this comment after 5 yrs from now
Very good information and specifics. This has helped me a lot!
Glad to hear it!
Thank you for this video. This is helpful
I just found out that on career page of IBM ,minimum experience required is 2 years .
Thank you so much for this information
Excellent presentation Jeff, as always
Thank you for watching!
Thank you sir for explaining everything.
You’re most welcome!
Nice video, was so helpful for me. Im 20 years old and after my security carrer
Thank you very much sir for the great insight. i have take some introductory courses on cybersecurity but what worries me most is the fact that i lack the technical skills and so i began a research for free online cybersecurity internships to gain that exposure but that too has proven futile. Please can you help find such internship programmes that are currently available.
In school at WGU for cybersecurity while working full time. Got I think 3 more years to go but hopefully it pays off well.
That’s awesome. I was looking into WGU a few months ago. Best of luck with your journey
I got a Diploma in IT and I still interested to get into cybersecurity field.
thanks for sharing cyberseek. good resource.
Loved your content
Dear, Thanks for a very informative and a comprehensive Video. My question or may be request is to guide the Cyber Security carrier on the basis of PhD in Cyber Security. It would be great if we get a similar video with details of paths, challenges and opportunities after PhD in Cyber Security.
Probably not a video that would appeal to a lot of people since that's not a path very many would take but it would be interesting
In the UK, we have an increased number of Master's Students MSc Levels aged over 40 Years old studying CyberSecurity and Digital Forensics; it's a one-year university degree that usually includes CyberSecurity Programming "Python", Malware Analysis, Digital Forensics, Penetration Testing, Cybersecurity Operation Center, Final Project, etc. And in my opinion, it's the best way to understand Cybersecurity in depth to get a promising paid Career in this field💰💰💰💰. And sure, with some training to use a specific tool.
I saw you video about ChatGPT. very interesting
I think Uk provide 1 year only courses for MSc and they cost around $20K
@@DreamLifeAfrica Thanks for your support.
@@petermi4741 Yes, it's one year only
thanks for sharing this info.
I am currently enrolled for an Bsc in IT majoring in Systems Administration.I am actually considering getting into cybersecurity thank you for the clarity.
You bet! Best of luck to you!
Well Explained.
Started on my journey last September. My first certification was the CompTIA ITF+, now I’m working on my Sec+. My exam is in 3 weeks!
Wish me luck 🍀
Ohh and if you are interested in the CISS cert. Get “The 11th hour” CISSP book! I have it! It will help!
Best of luck to you!!!
good luck, you got this.
Thank you for sharing
Please make a video like this but about Artificial Intelligence
Thank you!
I love all of the positivity in these comments! I wish you all beginners the best, I know you all can do it!
Great video. I’m in the UK and would love to retrain!!
Thanks! The good news is that there are lots of resources to help
Good job done Boss
How much of a threat is security copilot and other forms of AI programs for these roles?
I've got a lot of people who don't believe I'll make it in the cyber security space. But I'm going to be there one day.
I believe in you
Belief has nothing to do with it, ask yourself if you are a shrewd intellectual or not and move forward accordingly.
I am saying this to support you...don't tell people what you are going to do. Just move forward and let them find out later what you have done.
Good luck!
@@JJGhostHunters very valuable information, only thing is when people ask what you want to do with your life and you have to tell them.
Is my prof writing it all in reverse? Damn thats dedication to teaching, profession of his liking! Big respect
Video is mirrored..
I wish I had that skill. Alas, no. Here's how it's done ... ruclips.net/video/LdnJoT5IWPM/видео.html
I been flowing through my basic certs lately. Hopefully I make it so I can quit the military
Wow, this video was really insightful, especially the part about potential career paths in cybersecurity. I've also covered a similar topic on my channel, and it's great to see other creators sharing valuable information on this subject. Keep up the great work!
Could you also do similar video for cloud infra and dev ops? many thanks.
great job🎉
Interesting narratives
Tbh i have been continuously applying for cyber security entry level job including IBM however I'm not getting response back, Even I'm working IT management with Leadership experience Almost 2+ years work experience i have cleared Ceh, security+,SIEM, but it's hard to get job in cyber security domain as it's not entry level job tho...
To make it more clear plain give example from I am, end point etc like I log on to you tube and pull or ask for clips
Very good!
Glad I came across this, Jeff. I also sat the CISSP, long ago-250 questions-4 hours. It has since expired. Have MS\Information Assurance, now Cybersecurity at U. Dallas, but am not in that field right now. When you get a chance please, what do suggest as a path to transition in that direction?
If you passed the CISSP exam at some point then you clearly had the knowledge to work in the field. Some jobs will require this but some won’t. You might look for something that doesn’t and build up your experience base again and get up to date on the latest trends. The good news is that there are many different paths you could take. I only really know the one I took and that will definitely not be typical for the vast majority
Awesome!
I am totally newbie into tech world ,I am interested in Backed, Cyber security and AI
It's really hard to consider which one I really want to work.
Just try your hands on every technology , work for a few days or learn about it ( job market, salaries, and your interest) and then once you've familiar then make a choice . A piece of advice , Just don't be demotivated because your peers are into the hot domains like software engineering or ML and you're good to go... All the best with whichever choice you make!!
Going to community college for an IT degree, looking to pivot into cybersecurity. Hoping to jump on the first internship opportunity I can.
Thanks
Awesome video sir, it is very helpful video sir. I have experience in networking field for 1 and half year. Rest of 6 years I have experience in tech support worked for Verizon client, Adobe client, Samsung. Now I am doing my masters in cybersecurity. Could you please guide me to built my carrier In cybersecurity please?
Thank u
what about those who are pursuing a masters in cybersecrutiy?
Thank you! What system do you use to write on the screen. Looks great!

CERT is not free. $65/month in Canada ($50 in U.S)
and 750K jobs is not true. it's 110K
Need one about Machine Learning , please
VERY INTRIGUING👓👔
2 years in trying to break into cybersecurity, and all I can say is that free or low-budget options don't get you anywhere near worth considering for entry level jobs (sadly) - I find the entry level certs and self-learners are frowned upon here in the UK.
Thanks for the info.
However, I have a question .... Security+ needs 2 yrs experience to get the cert, as an entry level where do you get the 2 yrs from considering one is very green/straight from undergraduate?.
This is the perpetual catch-22. Internships or other entry-level jobs are one option. I hope to do a follow up video talking a bit about this
I feel like the 2 years of experience REQUIRED is a bit misleading, hence I have my Sec+ and earned it back in January, now graduating with my AAS in Information Systems Technology. Anyone can take the Sec+, but the two years is recommended.
Make videos on career opportunities in AI and how to learn
Bravo 👏
thank you sir
haven't even seen the video just super thankful today.
IBM Such a great organization
Are there opportunities for freshers?
Where can I enroll for an online courses?
i wish to have a career in Cyber Security, where can i have certification or the education
What would one be doing whilst getting the credentials? As in for experience, would we need to find some job in the field that is related to cyber security and once we have at least security + then we can start looking at the entry jobs on cyberseek?
These could be done simultaneously. Get an entry level job that doesn’t require credentials and then gain experience while learning and pursuing certifications
I have some questions if anyone cares to answer. I used to work as a Web Scraper (10 months), learned a little bit of programming, mainly JavaScript, then started learning some QA, and now I recently started a course on Udemy called "The Complete Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) course ISC2 '23". I have very little experience working and from reading requirements on job posts, I'm kinda losing hope a little bit in this Cybersecurity stuff cause it seems that people really need to know a lot of things in order to land a job in this field, like they sort of need to be a jack of all trades. I wonder if it's worth it to spend time learning about this or if I should just focus on QA as it it way more straightforward.
Like my main concern is that this single course won't be able to compress all the knowledge I need in order to land an entry level job in Cybersecurity, whereas QA doesn't really force you to study other things, except for maybe a programming language at a basic level if you're going for Automation, which is again, pretty straightforward as they'll just specify what language and what program they will be using at the job.
It all depends on what your goals are and only you can determine that. There’s definitely a lot to learn in cybersecurity, but, for me, that’s what makes it interesting
I just recently got the IBM cert. I hope it helps.
Congrats!
With the CISSP employers will accept an Associate, in lieu of having 5 years of experience, and just let you work the 4 to 5 years there for the full certification.
I have no experience in cybersecurity
Should I join the course and learn ?
I am a Cyber Security Researcher from Egypt, And I have 2 years of experience doing CTFs on Hack the Box till I get a Pro Hacker rank there and 1 year of experience doing missions for web assets at synack platform, And there are no chances for Cyber security here, I know that I can Find Jobs In US in Linked in or other job recruiting sites but the problem is in to travel, So How to someone like me to find a position in US and make the company grep me there?
I’m not planning on getting a BS degree, would you say this is lucrative for someone trying to get Into the field?
I have a cyber degree. MS in IT and project management. CCNA, Sec+, CYSA+ but most positions want a security clearance. Difficult to get in.
Actually, I’ve spent my entire career of 40 years without ever needing a security clearance. These are important in some government jobs but are not required in the private sector
Healthy professional network and hands on experience + certs/degrees in 2024 and beyond. Diversify your options!
I find that it’s both/and rather than either/or
@@jeffcrume agreed! I think I’ll take down my comment as not to confuse.
So what is in between training and the 2y minimum for security + ?
Real world work experience. There are other credentials that don’t have that experience requirement but I only had time to cover the ones that are in most demand
You're so cool.
I have two questions on the subject: 1- In 10 years, can AIs replace or take over many vacancies in cybersecurity? 2- Do you think doing comptia+, NDE, DFE, cloud+ would already be enough certifications to enter the market as a junior? what salary to expect?
to answer 1: we already use AI based detection in cybersecurity. SCAP, Machine learning, etc. they can and do produce false positives, so their will always be a need for CyS Professionals.
@@jacobmyers5936 Excellent response. Cybersecurity will never be replaced by AI since it requires human qualities such as thinking, empathy, and leadership.
At this point, the number of unfilled cybersecurity jobs is so great that we don’t need to even begin worrying about AI replacing them all. Secondly, unless and until AI gets vastly better than it seems it will be in the foreseeable future, we are still going to need humans making the tough decisions, weighing pros and cons of responses, building secure architectures, etc.
i have a doubt the experiences you mention for cissp and security+ is specifically in cybersecurity? if yes then how to get in to gain that experience first
Internships are a good place to start
Boss l need more videos please .
This is very helpful, but I am a little confused about the credentials... You required experience to get the credentials but you need the creds to get a job in the cyber security field?
Some of the more advanced creds require experience but entry level carts do not. Start with the latter and advance to the former
