As far as I know, all the six-violin units were made by Siegfried Wendel, Jens Wendel and crew at the Mechanisches Musikkabinett Museum (MMM) in Rudesheim, Germany. They are all recent replicas. There were stories (and I think, maybe an old newspaper mention, or catalog listing, or something) of Hupfeld making a Phonoliszt-Violina with SIX violins, but to my knowledge, no originals have survived till the present day, and I'm not even sure whether there's a photo of one. So, this one is a creation of the Wendels based on the story of the long-gone ones (and of course based on the surviving original 3-violin models). I think the first one was commissioned by collector Jim Krughoff, but not sure. I don't know how many they've built, but I have seen videos of at least two or three of them, so at least two or three. It must be very hard to keep all those violins in tune.
@UCE3GreaHqEGbDc07eq2edHg Hopefully you can see that these Violins have machine head tuners like on a Guitar cause they don't slip the same way friction pegs do.
Getting this roll.
It uses the same Rolls as the Hupfeld Phonoliszt Violina but here it's 2 Violin Trios.
How many double violin units were made?
I notice that the piano keys are being depressed. On some of the single violin units, the keys don't move.
