I had mine reconed after about 20 years out of service. (The company came back after a hiatus a few years back). They did a great job, and even did some stuff that I didn't ask for, such as new connector posts, etc. Very happy with this company. Also, good for prospective of limited bandwidth systems.
Yeah, I just run a single Auratone with my old Yamaha 2201 amp in mono. Awesome tool for leveling and making sure I have enough mids in my kick and bass. I didn't realize they are located in Nashville, even better!
O.K. I get it: It's just me, but what's the story with reviews that start with a whole unpacking the box sequence? I mean, are cats major sponsors of the Hi-Fi component reviews? Like, is all the money in getting a "Meow, show us the empty box baby."
I've got the passive with the bettermaker amp and they are a blast :) I Acltually like that i only have one powercable to fit with the passive amp ;) Also the combination of the focals and the auratones is KILLER :)
I've got the previous generation 5C's. They are no magic bullet for your mixes. You still should reference one of your favorite pro mixes on them first before you mix on them. But, so happy to see they developed an active powered version. That's huge improvement. Bruce Swedien was a big proponent of them them and mixed much of Michael Jackson's music on them. He said Jackson also loved them.
I have the new ones with the amp and LOVE them BUT...... I also bought the OLD original AURATONES 5PSC version To me they sound even better. I would LOVE to hear back what you think about the diff between the 2 are to ya. The 5PSC are warmer and flatter than my newer ones I LOVE them both. I LOVE AURATONEs....lol
They look quite nice. I might consider buying them sometime. I still have some Yamaha HS5's laying around but they are a bit bigger. Not sure if they compare at all.
I don't think they compare for two reasons. Firstly the Auratones are limited bandwidth so you don't get distracted by sexy lows and sparkly highs (you can bring those out later once the core of the mix is balanced). The second reason is they are single drivers - no crossover to smear the midrange.
@@VAEOMMusic I did mastering for a while but the odds of making enough money to be able to open a fully pro facility weren't good enough. Too few people wanting a pro job and too many recording studios including "mastering" in their package (on 2-way studio monitors sitting above a mixing desk? 🙄).
If you scroll way back on my Instagram you can find my shoot out between the two. Auratone‘s to my ears are more pleasing, smoother, and less fatiguing. They both accomplish the same goal, I just prefer the sound of the Auratone
We've read reviews the mids on the Avantone's are not accurate and are colored oddly. I own a pair of Active Avantone's and not pleased the least bit. Also the mounting socket on the bottom of the right unit on the Avantone's dislodged during a mixing session and fell off the Triad Orbit fixture it was mounted onto and smacked the floor. Warranty duration is great but buyer beware, you will foot the transport cost to get it in for service even it is a Factory Defect. So 1st and last buy of any Avantone Products for us. Good luck.
@@britelyteproductions8091 I can speak for the lameness of users needing to cover return shipping on a repair. It sucks indeed. I've had a pair of Mixcubes for a while, they're currently needing to go back - for a 2nd time now - for repairs and yeah the shipping is expensive. I also have a CLA-200 amp by Avantone, from day 1 it's had a volume mismatch between the channels. So if I want these issues repaired I'm looking at having to invest even more money to ship back basically every piece of Avantone gear I've bought. I really like their gear when it works, but at times like these not really.

That the Auratones are actually made in the USA, and the Bettermaker amps in Europe, makes the choice between Auratone and Avantone a no-brainer.
I read a review of these new 5c and they said the mids seemed scooped out around 500hz and they preferred the avantones for focusing on the midrange. Maybe they were just used to the avantones though. Idk people loved avantone mixcubes for like a decade and now they don't 😂 I think it must just be the auratone name.

However, afterwards, I started to wonder how I'm going to connect it to the versatile and fantastic "AudioFuse Studio" by Arturia, to which I already have 2 set of speakers connected: The "IK Multimedia iLoud MTM (Single) 100W, Dual 3" woofer Premium Compact Studio Monitor Powered Speakers" and another 2 of the same brand: The IK Multimedia iLoud Micro Monitor 50 watt Portable Wireless Bluetooth Studio Reference Monitors, Dual Speakers. Hi I hope this email finds you and your family in good health… I’ve been watching your channel since the beginning of the pandemic and I want to congratulate you on the development of it and how you have kept someone like me interested … The reason I am reaching out is because allot of your mixing technics are very similar to mine and even though I am doing a different genre of music we search for the same results... You’ve recently reviewed the Auratone powered 5c and I love those speakers from the old days.. I bought the Avantones cubes as they were powered at the times and the Auratones were not at the time… I would love if you could review one against the other as I’m sure you’re opinions and feed back will be an inspiration to many that will not have that chance to do the same… And I do respect your opinion Best -Benji
Haha. Sorry, but really funny video. ”Completely new speakers, i havnt even unpacked them”. Continues to talk about how amazing they are and THEN tries them out. ;) i agree with the result, but it was just a funny storyline of the video. I will def get me one of these. Thanks for letting us know!
Well, the point is that they are the exact same thing as the ones I’ve been using forever, so I guess I was presumptuous in saying they’re exactly the same thing before listening to them lol.
Now i am confused. Your pair doesnt look like the ones on their website. Also active, but the rear looks different. Did you get a pre-production model or something?
I’m not 100% sure, but I believe the pictures on the website are the pre-production. I know I was waiting for the production model for several weeks before filming this video
