One of the finest of song stylists! Frank lays it all out, no smoke and mirrors. He just bleeds a song and really works the lyrics. The very best. Mr. Sinatra can sell a song like no other. RIP Frank and thanks for many BEAUTIFUL memories!
Frank has been my hero, go to since forever.... I went to see him Live in London Albert Hall ...never will forget an unforgettable energy zone experience of pure pure class xx
I love seeing him perform a song. Since he was a natural actor, he might have found it easier having things to do while singing--as he does here. He's virtually playing a part in a play. The real challenge he consistently met was performing a song on a naked stage, with nothing between him and the audience. No props--just his voice and body language communicating exactly what was in the composer's heart--and his own.
It's 1:11 a.m. and Siriusly Sinatra channel 70 is playing my favorite version of HERE'S THAT RAINY DAY -- the Don Costa arrangement that is part of the "Glad To Be Unhappy" medley -- the TV performance complete with thunder and rain -- you know the one. It's never at RUclips but when I wasn't looking someone posted just the 'Rainy Day' segment. What's it from? (Where's a wise man when you need one in the wee small hours.) I agree with the kindred spirit (below) who calls this "my favorite rendition" [for television, along with the "Doc Severinsen and Tommy Newsom Tonight Show" performance. Thanks, Mike Nagle for sharing. Celebrated elsewhere this night [search] " Great Melody, Great Lyric, Great Rendition, Songwriting Workshop, Harmony Central "
Edit: Sorry, I checked, it was on the 1968 special (Francis Albert Sinatra Does His Thing) not 1969. Sinatra (1969) TV special, there used to be the whole medley on RUclips but it was deleted sadly.
@@dashielj1 sorry double checked its on the dvd Frank Sinatra does his thing with speciel guests Diahann Carroll and The 5th Dimension. I saw one on Amazon
I was lucky to see him in London many years ago. It was an unforgettable experience.
I also saw him a few times here in New York.
I agree with you.

Magnifique hommage.
Such a short song but so emotional. Frank and Nat King Cole did this so well.

Mello, smooth singing Sinatra! One of the very greats of all time when expressing his recording talent!
