  • When I say that I detest spending money that I don't have to spend I mean I really hate it. When I found myself needing a PTT Switch for my radio I went looking at the options from the major players and thought - this is more than I want to spend on this, I can do it cheaper.
This is an easy project. Come along and see how you can make your own.

I have one of those industrial foot switch's with two foot peddles... Its heavy AF! And the darn thing kept getting in the way to many times. so in my quest to find a replacement. I attempted to use a sewing machine foot switch that was acquired from a goodwill... yeah that didn't work, for some reason it kept giving a sewing buzz when keyed! So I bought the same foot switch and cutup a cheap black usb cable I had laying around to get the length I needed. With the shrink wrap you cant tell its not OEM. Its a good cheap foot switch that might outlast the radio and would recommend anyone who needs a foot switch to just make this, instead of buying one of those cast iron widowmakers.

I almost bought one of those industrial types because - cool. But the price was way more than I wanted to spend and as I have said, I'm a cheapskate. :)

@@LifeAtTerminalVelocity I think I got mine for $10 at a hamfest pre 2019. It was in bad shape with alot of rest. I ended up sanding the rust off and painting it this light yellow thinking I wouldn't stub my toe on it... yeah that didn't work LOL.

Lol I just installed the double foot cast iron switches. One to the hf one to the vhf. It is clunky though. Got mine free from a remodel at work😎

That is the kind I was looking at. Someday I might get one just for kicks.
