It's a wonderful story...mixture of where Nee nee was born and raised ,survival, her parents involvement in the "Secret War" . It's great for her ( bitter /sweet) to be able to re-trace those steps of her days as a very young girl . Looking at Mina ( when Nee Nee was that age) and visiting those places ,must feel surreal. Nee nee is a special person, and it's so warming to see she has come through all these adversities and challenges as lovely woman, thanks in part, to your goodself ,Todd. Thank you for the Vids ....Kenno
I'm glad NeeNee can find humor in her memories of that awful time. No one in the West can ever comprehend what it means to be the most bombed country in the world. Thanks for sharing this Todd.
Imagine being a child at the time, how tramatic it was to hear bombs and not sleeping in a comfortable bed. Funny for us but scary for Neenee. It's nice now to be able to look back at it and laugh. As always, great content with Neenee the storyteller. Be Well! Stay Healthy ! 🙏🙏 Happy Holidays! 🎄🎄 to You and Yours . Jim and Harriet
Another masterpiece from the Toddster! Thanks for the vlog as always. Neenee's stories are amazing and certainly made me laugh. "How did your father know that you had pooed in the hammock?" " By the smell!" says Neenee. Made me laugh. I am so glad is collecting more stories about her parents and also the precarious first few years of life that she had as a child. It will all make for very interesting reading. Hope you are now safely ensconced in Austrralia, where I am sur that you will have a whale of a time. God bless you all, not forgetting your mother. 😀🙏❤
Hi brother Todd,, dont be jello,,but I do love you wife's stories.😂😅 Love to hear her speak about her childhood. I hope shes putting notes together. She needs to write a book. It was finally wet enough that Mina ❤❤❤wasnt crying for a swim. Hearing pooping stories from around the world,,I think the western countries are the ones that complicate their children's bathroom sessions,,by the clothes they make em wear.lol Todd,,you married a precious gem,,one in a million. Can Neenee's brother speak English as well as she can? I think it would be awesome to hear them both reminiscing. Thanks for doing this Todd,,Ttyl,,,Marlon
I quite agree with your comment: Madame NiNi who is an intelligent and charming woman with historic lao knowledge should write a book ( together translated in French and english) about her childhoods and young life.
Neenee is an example of how someone you pass on the street or just pass while rambling through the mall may have an EPIC life story that you would never even suspect. Her stories are golden! Even before any efforts to write a book PLEASE have her sit and record as many as possible, even better in dialogue with others ( i.e. her brother or old friends) who also went through it. Thank you for these rich videos. Just the walk down the street and watching traffic & people is a great experience. Thanks.
Good video Todd, lovely to hear NeeNee reminiscing about her childhood. They were dangerous times for Lao, Cambodian and Vietnamese people as has been related to me here in NZ by those that survived. Mina is a character, reminds me a lot of our girl in the Philippines when she was Mina's age. Now 17. Bob. (Across the ditch.)
My understanding is both are correct when used in the right context. Laos is used when discussing/ describing the country of Laos, and Lao is used in reference of the majority ethic group, culture and language. Laotian is a citizen/ covers all ethnic groups.
Perfectly made up for a poo in the hammock story. I believe that Evergreen is a big cargo shipping company. I think it was an Evergreen ship that had the Suze canal blocked for some time. I don't have any idea why that container would be so far from the ocean. Probably more information than what you wanted.
Obviously, this is just a snapshot in time, but if she is on the phone a lot. It is going to hurt her ability to learn English and interpersonal skills. Mina is a great kid, but she was completely checked out. Again, I know I am only seeing a snapshot in time. Hopefully I am overreacting.
Neenee definitely doesn't need make-up! Gorgeous just as she is.

Laos or Lao? Which one is right?
