This was really informative. I've been trying to figure out for a while now how to make my own PVC fittings, and you showed that really well. On top of that, this looks like a very solid fitting, and I appreciate that. My question is: why did you use JB Weld instead of PVC glue? I've always used the purple cleaner and then the glue that they sell in the PVC section at the hardware store. I suppose either one would work, but I'm curious about the JB Weld. Thanks for posting this, Turtledude!!
Thanks! Honestly, I used it cuz I wanted to use it on the seam between the coupler and the 4 way, cuz it cures dark. Since I had it, I didn't wanna spend anymore then I had to. For gluing the pipe fittings, either would work just fine! If I was doing it again, I would see if I could make a wider hole that the whole coupler would fit in, without compromising the 4 way. Might be an even stronger connection. But yeah, to answer your question, I just had pleny of JB weld, so to keep cost down, I used it! If you have pvc cement, that will work too. Will need to have something to fill the space on the coupler though. Epoxy putty would work too, and you would be able to skip the sanding part.
you fish You arnt wrong. If I was doing it over I'd probably just buy some, but it's a fun exercise in creativity. Besides, check out part 3 of this series. The reflector stand add on makes it stand out a bit more! :)
A new model ...good
Best stand I've seen so far...lots of good tips!
Very nice
