some things i see in a gas station are as follows, 1-condoms, 2- 12packs of pop, 3-can of coffee, 4-chap stick, 5-a multi or single pack of gloves, cant wait to see that new survial kit, ICO has some awesome stuff, glad your back and cant wait to see whats to come!!
You have to spend time with the family. They are what make it all worth it. Sucks about loosing the videos, but glad you got 2 new cards. Gas Station shelf stable. Oil, 5 hr energy drink, gum, beer, beef jerky
I missed you, but I am glad that you spent some quality time with your family. You always offer great insight. To answer your question: fresh water, ice, coffee and maps of the area.
as a case manager I run around to see clients in their home a lot. shelf stable items: water, pop ( so many), medicine ( ibuprofen, antacids, allergy), sun glasses ( yep kids trashed mine and bought new ones), pens, pencils, candy, jerky, nuts, cables for device.
Coffee, Kraft dinner and chips, these are my three! Family first and everything else to follow, glad you had a nice family vacation! Thanks for sharing.
Just incase people are wondering what is shelf stable - read the definition below shelf-sta·ble adjective able to survive long periods on store or home shelves without spoiling. "a growing number of dairy-based beverages are shelf-stable and can be stored in the pantry rather than the refrigerator"
Good for you for taking some time off! RUclips can wait. Your kids will be grown before you know it. Ma and I raised six of them...my oh my where did the time go!
Great customer service! That sucks you lost the footage. Enjoy the family is always nice. Map food tire chains snow shoes yes i live were they carry it all
welcome back, glad the holidays were good to you, and if people cant deal that you have a life then you dont need them, always family first. shelf stable items rice, powdered eggs and powdered milk. keep up the good work
Find yourself in a gas station and got the hungries, you just have to snap into a Slim Jim, lol. Glad you got to spend some quality time with the family!!
Having been a truck driver for many years, most "gas stations" I've frequented have a slightly larger selection than your average quickie mart fuel and fart. Large selections of canned goods, Twinkies from 1974, Ramen, variations of MRE's, freeze dried meals similar to Mountain House and the like... Oh and the huge jar of pickled pig's feet on the counter by the register. That's mostly below the Mason-Dixon line, though.
Glad to see you back ! In a gas station there are plenty of shelf stable items one cannot eat (oil, anti freeze, ATF, lighters, maps, cell phone chargers, vehicle related items, etc.). Human consumable items of long shelf life are bottled water, snack and canned foods, coffee, condiment packs (including salt), not to mention the alcohol and tobacco products. There is toilet paper, paper towels, soap in the hygiene category. If you luck into a truck stop there are knives and tools and communication assets. It can truly be a scaled down walmart / bigbox store depending on where you are and the occupancy in question.
Bravo's to you and no need to apologize for your absence. Being a Father is a first and foremost thing! There are those of us that really get that! Whither you do a video once a week or once a month, that is fine. Moreover your a Dad and your kids and dear wife come first! Period. Wilderness is a gift and so how ever you present that. I thank you again for your work.. Moreover a very Happy New Year to you and your family! Stay safe, be of good cheer and some of us are here if need be... My Best, Ross The Santa Fe Man~
Been concerned guy! Hope you're doing alright. Glad you made time for your family. As to the shelf stable items from a gas station: beef jerky, bottled water and almonds. Now, for items that aren't food related: razor blades, lighters, bandanas and dental floss. You pick which matters more! Now you have me curious, what are you getting at, Joe? Hoping you post about this soon!!!
Welcome back. We missed you but glad to hear you got in some family time. Your videos are awesome but your family time is way more important than this. Tuna, nuts, potted meat, chips, candy bars, crackers etc
Crackers with canned salsa/ potted meat. Breakfast cereal with canned milk. YooHoo tastes great with healthy cereals like Cheerios and raisin bran. V8 and fruit juice. Jerky. My local store has some canned food along with beans, pasta and rice. Carb heavy diet, but it's reasonably complete and is there in an emergency. Don't forget extra condiment packs.
Ramen noodles, cans of soup, bags of chips, almost all the candy/junk food, beef jerky/meat sticks, trail mix, mixed nuts/peanuts. How shelf stable are we talking here? Most things in a gas station are pretty well drowned in preservatives, so they are shelf stable to one degree or another. Also, glad you got some family time. I thought it was something like that. Good on ya.
I know what you mean, we had number 6 born in December!! We know what noise is!! I would expect to see Vienna sausages, beanie weenies, spam, pickled eggs, potted meat, various canned soups. I hope that's what you were looking for!! Keep up the great work!!! Family is more important so kick them to the side and if you need to take a vacation from videos then do it!!!
I didn't know you were gone. Dang welcome back brother! Oddly enough when living out of a pack I get more things from gas stations than most other places. Bushcraft is for fun, covering ground is all biz and gas stations are often within striking distance on foot from the AT etc etc etc. 1. Batteries. One reason why there will always be AA/AAA light in my longer range packs despite liking lithium ion systems. Everything needs to be fed including my headlamp. 2. Soft drinks name your poison and for me the ones with sugar really are poison. 3. Junk food including funky meats like beef jerky etc etc etc. 4. Sometimes I can find a jar of instant coffee. 5. bottled water. Yup I buy it when going through some dry miles. 6. Heet dry gas in the yellow and blue bottle if lucky to power the alky stove. Works great. Those are my target items when bailing off the trail to resupply.
have missed seeing you but understand. I do reviews too and there can be a lot of pressure sometimes. glad you had time with the family. paper towels, water, and jerky might be some.
it's great that you were able to spend some quality time with the family. As far as the items go you can normally find some type of of jerky or meat stick, snack cake, fruit roll up or gummy fruit, chips, candy bar, soda, water, condiment packs, and sometimes powdered milk. Other things would be lighters, lighter fluid, oil, gas treatment, brake fluid, coffee filters, band-aid, packs of pain medication and pepto. I know there's a lot more but I think I've gone off target so I'll stop for now. Good to see you back my friend. God bless and stay safe.
We all need a little decompression time. Welcome back. gas station items are : beef jerry, duck tape, fishing tackle, cordage, first aid supplies, water, containers, lighters and maps
Sardines, kippered snacks, tuna, mac n cheese, peanut butter, ramen, spam, canned soups, Vienna sausage, coffee, tea, hot cocoa mix, canned pet food etc. You can tell I live in the mountains
Good to see you back but I'm glad it's Family First with you. ...so, gas station staples? How about Chips (Doritos), Drinks (Aquafina), Cigarettes, Lottery Tickets, Crappy Coffee.
Hey thanks for the video. I don't watch all videos but I appreciate your "real world" confession. Often people forget that the world someone shows them is not necessarily the reality and I mean that in the sense of obligation. stress is death so I applaud you in taking the time with your family! I'm curious in the item that your contact has thay is not for sale so I look forward to that. I know this post has been long-winded but to add to the last part of your video my list of items that I first think of at a gas station are: chips, soda, water, basic tools, basic first aid items, coffee, jerky, nuts, flammable liquids, and we'll end it there. Thanks!
Ramen noodles, those 5 hour energy shots, twinkies (I heard this somewhere, no clue where), water (in a can), 5 cent candies, hard candies (like wurthers, or scotch mints), bubblegum, beef jerkey (maybe the really really dry stuff up by the cash register), energy bar/clif bar.
Hey Joe, that stuff happens, it's why I've pulled pack the past year or so from being a power user, had to focus on work and life. But I've done the same with having a workshop since moving. oh... and soda, chips, and candy.
Shelf stable items: Jerky, Canned Meats (Spam, Sausage), Canned Soup, Bottled Water, Chocolate. Never apologize for being a family man. As for reviews and impatient providers, unless you are on their payroll, they don't get priority in one's life. Might be hard for them to understand the time commitment, but they need to research the time and what it would cost to pay a production crew to do a review. When someone does their own testing, filming, editing, and uploading, the volume of time is pretty high. You gotta eat and sleep sometime! Keep up the good work Joe!
Well Joe, beyond gas, jerky and beer, I have no expectations at any gas station. I will say here that, yeppers....I did indeed miss you....however, me missing you online, pales in comparison to you being with your family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm a happy subscriber.....rock on brother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >;)
Shelf Stable item in a gas station. How about; Maps, Coffee Go-Cups, Gloves, Jerky, Cigarette Lighters, Batteries, Cordage & Pocket Knives. I hope these are the kind of items you're looking for.
Nice Broc knife. Mystery item looks like it could be a Covenant particle beam rifle ... awesome! Shelf stable items in gas station -- slim jims, bags of nuts, bottled water, and those red hot dogs in vinegar (Bahamas mamma's).
Nothing wrong with taking a break and spending time with family brother. Almost sounds like you should do it more often. While I do enjoy your videos, family time isn't time you can get back. Shelf stable foods huh? Twinkies? Thanks for the video
Oh man......JOE MOBELY !!! I've been leaving breadcrumbs everywhere in the woods to help you find your way out. I'm almost out of bread.! Five items .. Smokes, beverages, lighters, bait and I personally would like some ammo. PAPA DUKES APPROVED !
Well it nice to know your human (I think... :-) ) and that family comes first. Gas Stations: Bottle water, canned food, batteries and fire starters. Welcome back!
Hostess powdered donettes, cheesy popcorn, and i imagine that one hot dog that has been on the roller for a year is pretty stable by now.
Windshield washer fluid, fix-a-flat, steering/break fluid, radiator sealer, anti-freeze and Marvel Mystery Oil. Bonus points for coffee and donuts.
