@nickbishop5790 I just got the new marlin 5 and loved it. Was gonna go with this one but like the updated tires, saddle, and the new cues shifts very smooth.
I bought mine pre pandemic. I love it. I got rid of the plastic pedals with metal , the cheap seat it comes with ,to a split seat, better grips. And added a Bontrager rack/ bag system. Living in east, central Illinois. In cooler weather you might start out in a sweatshirt, then you get warm,so I have a bag to throw it in. 😊
i got this bike a month or so ago to get into some trail riding and it's awesome, so far i've upgraded the foot pedals and the tires. i've probably put around 50+ miles just riding intermediate trails.

I'll stick with the tires for now but I'm going to have the shop convert them to tubeless. Might also put a dropper post in but after I take her on the trails several times.
@@kiwi22207I just got this bike in size L about 2 weeks ago. Riding a 1x 29er is new to me. I have only 2 rides on it so far (30miles). So far so good. I will say that mine came with Tektro levers and brakes, also slightly different grips. Still trying to get comfortable on this bike. Mine is pretty heavy at 31lbs. Great run down of the bike, I didn't realize the bar clamps had some other mounting options in there. Great vid👍
Great vid. I just bought the Gen 2 2023 model of the exact bike in small. So far I’m loving it I put close to 100 in the month I’ve had it. First mods are to add a dropper post and handle bar and stem to raise it a bit
That was surprisingly light. I suppose keep an eye on that scale and see if other bikes where you are provided a weight spec come in lighter than expected. Might need to compare it againat another scale. I find it intereating that Trek spec'd Maxxis tires. Usually they would use their house brand. I wouldn't be surprised that the supply chain is so messed up they don't have sufficient stock.
Just ordered one at £569 on the Trek Fest. Great price really. Been riding road for 10 yr and want to mix it up more. Takes panniers so it'll make a nice bike for light weekender tours. I don’t understand how companies are still selling disc brake bikes with QR skewers in 2021! Especially MTBs! I love the look of the Marlin but thru axles should be on this bike!
@@Jamesthebikeguy for one they won’t get any disc rub, two the bike would be capable of much heavier trail use, and three it would have up to date technology which road, cx and gravel have already adopted for the last few years. 26.24 pounds? I'd bank on it that the scale wasn't playing nice like you said. The specs on the bike have 30ish pounds written all over it. I'm guessing you probably take the opportunity to lift a lot of the bikes you review on here in addition to weighing them with the scale. I know I would. First thing I do when I see a bike in a bike shop is lift it lol. From what you remember from the Blur, any chance a bike like the Marlin 7 can actually be lighter, even with the rear shock on the Blur? Or how about the carbon Chameleon? I realize tire/wheel setup will add weight to the bike but that should I'm guessing be more than offset by the carbon frame and lighter components across the board. If by chance though this bike really does weigh 26.24 pounds, then Trek has just cracked the code and found the holy grail of price/performance/weight combination that just hasn't existed in this price range before.
Yeah.. I'm pretty certain the scale was optimistic. Normally I don't re-weigh when what comes on the screen passes a reality check. The Trek quoted weight of about 30lbs is more than likely accurate
@@Jamesthebikeguy I have a Marlin though Large, Have Suntour Axum fork the was 2lbs lighter than stock. Lighter crank and and Racing Ralphs front/rear and Tubless and its 28lbs using a Park bike scale. Unless there is some new magic happening here, time to get a new scale :)

Trek web says tyres are bontrager not maxxis
It also says specifications will change without notice*
Hi James! Im looking to buy this and change to a hybrid rigid MTB - would a 40 chainring fit for this frame?
Max you could do is around 34 - 36
@@LindonSlaght *34
@@MatthewAdamAda that's... what I said? I didn't know if it could take 36 but I know it'll take 34 so I gave a range.
Can anyone tell me what tyres these are? thx !!
Maxxis
Can I fit a 140mm fork on this bike?
yes, but dont. 120mm max.
do they come pre built from the website??
You have to put on the bars and front wheel and pedals
@@roryf3710 thanks
By pre-built the dealer you will pick it up from will assemble for you.
Just ordered the 8 and very excited about it. My Emonda is a bit of a handful in UK autumn/winter conditions and I can’t wait to get into some trail fun after a long sabbatical!
Have fun
EXCELENTE HERMOSA BICI👍👍👍👏👏👏💯💯💯
Whats the difference with 2021 version?
only difference is the wheels were upgraded to tubeless ready rims, and I think different tires. Other than that no changes from 2021.
Hopefully alot
Is the Marlin 7 worth the extra $$$ over the Marlin 6??
The Marlin 7 has a ton of solid upgrades over the six
no
What bcd is that chainring?
Chainwheel is part of the crank... non removable
It is removable it is 82 bcd
How tall are you? Do you think M/L is too big for a 5’7 frame
Too big. Get a Medium unless you are still growing
Good call, I picked up a size Medium yesterday and I am loving it so far. Took a short 10mi ride and it was great. The M7 is definitely a step up from my 2017 M5.
@@CAllen-uw7hc thank god you went M lol
Giant Talon!
Another cool bike.
I have the XL, absolutely love it. My front wheel is warped, any advice?
being like the second of their top model..its not tapered?
Second highest of a entry-level bike
Jamesthebikeguy yes…entry level..i wonder why they dont give it a tapered one tho
@@davao0506 $$$
Chris yeah $$$..i have a vitus i think same price with tapered headtube and airfork shimano drivetrain

it's the weight (11.90 kg.) correct or not ?
No
Thanks for the video! But I’m still deciding if i should get the trek marlin 6 or 7?
7 I'd deff nicer, but go with the one you can get. Riding is more fun than waiting
