In regard to Batman vs Red Hoods philosophy I’ll push back on your siding with Red Hood without getting into morality by simply pointing out the fact that the real failure in the way Batman operates is really just a failure on the criminal justice system side of things because realistically a lot of the worst people he puts in jail would realistically be sentenced to death and while we may not actually carry out many of our death penalties in the real world I think given the level of mass atrocity committed by some of the people in the DC world that people wouldn’t be as opposed to it. Also some would probably be considered domestic terrorists as well as guilty of using weapons of mass destruction such as the joker toxin and fear toxin adding to the likelihood of execution regardless of any attempts at insanity pleas. Of course the reason this never happens is simply plot so they can keep using villain characters so I guess you could say Batman has it the best when it comes to plot armor but also has it the worst because his villains get equal plot armor ensuring Batman can never succeed. Outside of that I think in theory Batman’s way of operating should work in his world particularly if coupled with the use of power and influence as Bruce Wayne to improve conditions in Gotham specifically.
