Rose is opposed to Bernard's plan to build an SOS sign on the beach. Jack and Kate venture into the jungle to propose a trade with the Others.
The survivors of a plane crash are forced to work together in order to survive on a seemingly deserted tropical island.
Lost is an American science fiction adventure drama television series created by Jeffrey Lieber, J. J. Abrams, and Damon Lindelof that aired on ABC from September 22, 2004, to May 23, 2010, over six seasons and 121 episodes. It contains elements of supernatural fiction, and follows the survivors of a commercial jet airliner flying between Sydney and Los Angeles, after the plane crashes on a mysterious island somewhere in the South Pacific Ocean. Episodes typically feature a primary storyline set on the island, augmented by flashback or flashforward sequences which provide additional insight into the involved characters.
Lindelof and Carlton Cuse served as showrunners and are executive producers along with Abrams and Bryan Burk. Inspired by the 2000 Tom Hanks film Cast Away,[1] the show is told in a heavily serialized manner. Due to its large ensemble cast and the cost of filming primarily on location in Oahu, Hawaii, the series was one of the most expensive on television, with the pilot alone costing over $14 million.[2] The fictional universe and mythology of Lost were expanded upon by a number of related media-most importantly a series of mini-episodes called Missing Pieces; and a 12-minute epilogue, "The New Man in Charge".
Lost has regularly been ranked by critics as one of the greatest television series of all time.[3][4][5] The first season had an estimated average of 16 million viewers per episode on ABC.[6] During its sixth and final season, the show averaged over 11 million U.S. viewers per episode. Lost was the recipient of hundreds of industry award nominations throughout its run and won numerous of these awards, including the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series in 2005,[7] Best American Import at the British Academy Television Awards in 2005, the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series - Drama in 2006, and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

Rose and Bernard are the most underappreciated couple/characters on the show. Love both of them so much. Their backstory is beautiful... 'You didn't answer my question' gets me every time ❤️

During your speculation about the island's ability to heal, and the terms & conditions of the healing, I'm surprised the thought of Jack's father's corpse re-animating and wandering the jungle never came to mind. Maybe that's one more enigma we can add to the list.

The story of Rose and Bernard's marriage and subsequent illness was partly inspired by actress Laverne Scott Caldwell's (Rose) real 2nd marriage to her husband John who had died of Cancer a little more than a year after their wedding which had taken place in 2004 on her birthday (April 17th). Caldwell BTW shares the same birthday as Henry Cusick (Desmond), and William Mapother (Ethan).

20:35 Man, I just LOVED when Lost did endings like these... 🥹😭
There's another one in season 3 that I just love, I can't say anything but it's also Giacchino's music. He kinda does a remix of an existing song there. I can say that much, that doesn't spoil anything.
But those are the moments that make you FEEL connected with the show....

Giacchino's music elevated this series for sure. There used to be a video of the Hawaii Symphony playing the music of Lost at an outdoor concert. It was so damn good, but I can't find it anymore.

The Sickness manifested as a severe mental change on the part of the afflicted. In 1988, one apparent sufferer, Robert, suddenly and uncharacteristically attempted to kill his pregnant fiancée, Danielle Rousseau, seconds after professing his love for her.

  • @dgillphotos

...you can wait... trust me... - Rose and Bernard are pretty cool. So much about this show is amazing. Rose sits next to Locke - Rose is now the true island believer and now Locke is not. He was very "Pro-Island" and very "Pro-Button" and now as the two sit next to each other Locke is pessimistic but continues to look for the answer about it.
I love it that we know the characters so well that we can laugh at the smallest things by them.
BTW - "Henry Gale" is one of my favorite characters. He (at this point) seems to be a few steps ahead of them - a Cheshire cat. I have seen the show but a good question that doesn't give anything away - now he has given himself away as an other but 1) what does he know and 2) what is his game plan. - Love this show and thanks for helping us see it for the first time again.

So all that sitting on the beach and staring out at the ocean Rose was doing, wasn't just thinking about her husband, she was also trying to work out why she wasn't sick anymore.
Could it be the island only heals who it wants to heal? Is that possible? I'm not sure.

  • @joselopezforque8745

Rose and Bernard are the best. A beautiful episode.
Massive lore drop. Isaac's information about energy at certain points on the Earth, magnetic in nature, that can heal, is one of the biggest reveals on the show which explains to a certain degree what the Island is, and why is it special.
As for what is can heal, well, it didn't heal Scott's broken neck. It didn't stop Joanna from drowning when she got swept out to sea. It didn't heal Ethan's bullet wounds. There are limits.
However, if Boone had let Jack cut off his leg, maybe he would've had a better chance of surviving on Island, then he would've had off Island? But he was crushed by a plane, that's a serious injury.
Regarding the sickness, you need to consider the sources, of which there are three.
Firstly, the Dharma Initiative have put QUARANTINE on the inside of all their Hatches. We know very little about Dharma at this point. Desmond was working in their Hatch, but he was never an official recruit, they are still a mystery.
Rousseau also claimed her shipmates got sick. How they got sick is explained as *"It was them. They were the carriers. The Others."* So, she claims that the Others carry the infection. She claims it took her team one by one, until she confronted her boyfriend Robert, who tried to shoot her (while presumably still pregnant with his baby) but didn't notice that Rousseau had removed the firing pin from the gun. She killed him instead.
Additionally she said; *"I had no choice. They were already lost. What would have happened if we were rescued? I couldn't let that happen. I won't."*
But the details of Rousseau's story are vague, and she doesn't appear entirely sane.
The last source about the sickness, is Ethan Rom. While he had Claire, he claimed that he was giving her a vaccine, but when the baby was born, there would only be enough vaccine for the baby. Claire would need to leave and give the baby to him. Now, Ethan is an antagonist, but is he lying about this or telling the truth?
So, there are your sources, what they all mean when put together, is up to you to decide.

Yeah, the thing with Walt is... he's played by a child actor who grows at normal child rates. While nearly two years have passed by this point IRL, only a couple months have passed in show. Walt's actor is clearly older - which is why they can't bring him back beyond brief half-seen glimpses, and probably why they had him get kidnapped in the first place.

Henry may just be trying to mess with Locke's head about the button, but what I find even more interesting is Jack asking Locke "Are you gonna get that?" when Locke is ignoring the alarm going off. Is Jack starting to believe in the button?
Or is he just sick of the alarm noise and wants it to stop?
A possible plot hole here: Rose and Bernard were on their honeymoon when the plane crashed, yet Rose tells Jack (in S1) that she always holds onto Bernard's ring whenever they fly (because his fingers swell up). Have they really flown THAT many times before even going on their honeymoon? Possibly, but I'm not totally convinced.
