I mean Locke was still covered in Boone's blood when he approached Shannon. Also, Jack has every right to be mad at Locke, he keeps lying, which is bad, especially when a doctor needs information to save a patient.
A lie of omission is still a lie. Jack probably couldn't have saved Boone, but he would have had a better chance if Jack was working with the correct information.
My opinion on why Locke is being so secretive about the hatch, is that basically he likes feeling special. We see in his flashbacks that he led a very mundane and sad life before. But since the crash and regaining the use of his legs, he's become a leading figure among the survivors and is respected. I think for Locke, finding the hatch was the next step in his new, special destiny. So he's going to keep it secret until he uncovers the mystery for himself first.
I probably should have pointed this out in the prior reaction but regarding Boone surviving the crash of Flight 815 only to be more seriously injured and die because of falling off the cliff in the small plane: You have to remember, in Flight 815, Boone was seated and seat belted into the seat. In the small plane, Boone was standing when it fell. He was not fastened in, so he was tossed around, and struck various things inside the small plane when it fell and hit the ground. That's the difference and why Boone was more seriously injured from a small fall in the small plane versus the much larger fall in the jet.
One of my favorite things about this show is how they play on a theme throughout both episodes and the series as a whole. Sayid keeps being told that fate has influenced his actions, when he knows it's all a setup. Then the episode ends with him changing his flight, putting him on Oceanic 815. Fate?
Locke lied about how Boone got injured and that affected how Jack treated him. Jack has every right to be mad. Also it was clear to Jack that Locke wasn't really hurt by the bullet graze.
At the end of the season I'm going to binge all of your reactions past episode ten. I'm saving them to make a special occasion out of it lol. Almost there!
Her name is Noor, but her nickname is Nadia ... "nobody calls her Noor," one of the many repeated phrases on Lost. Me personally, I find this episode and the next to be two of the weaker episodes of season 1. But that being said, I like the on-island stuff for this one a lot. Next week, without spoiling, I like the flashback plot a little better than the island. You're almost up to the finale!! I don't know if you already shot your reaction or not, but if not, if you can get your hands on a Season 1 DVD or BluRay, maybe from your library, and watch the last one (Exodus Part 2) in it's original 2-hour format in stead of the "split-up-into-parts-2-and-3" version that's on the streaming services, I'd highly recommend it, it's a better viewing experience. In fact, of all 6 Lost finales, all but season 4 merit watching them in the 2-hour format in which they originally aired (again, no spoiling, but the split-up-for-streaming version of the season 4 finale adds in additional -- canonical in fact -- dialogue to pad the run time ... we can talk about that much later).
I understand your frustration st Jack in this episode but again, while him saying John "murdered" Boone was a bit over dramatic, John DID lie to him about what exactly happened. The reason doctors ask a patient or their loved ones what happened is so they can properly treat them. Jack was treating Boone under the impression that the injury to his leg was because he fell but it was because of that thing in the plane being on top of him, crushing his leg. While there is no guarentee that Boone would have survived (and he probably wouldn't have) since they don't have the right equipment, but at least he would've had a chance. That's why Jack is so angry at John. But he definitely did go too far. I also understand Shannon's behaviour and think it's justified but Jack also put fuel to the fire, AND she's still grieving and needs to find someone to blame. I know a lot of people disagree but Jack has always been one of my favourite characters and I honestly think he gets an unfair amount of hate from the fandom. Yes, Jack is presented as the "hero" and the "leader" but he never claimed to be or even wanted to be. The people always came to him, probably mainly because he's a doctor, but also because he has a lot of traits of a hero and a leader. His biggest trait AND flaw is that he cares so much about other people. I don't think he has this "hero complex" like a lot of people believe. I just think he cares, sometimes too much. Noor is the woman's name but Sayid calls her Nadia. They went to school together but weren't necessarily friends. Continuity errors: Sayid told Danielle he thinks Nadia is dead. However, in this episode it is established that he already knew she was alive. The reason he was on the flight in the first place was to meet with her. Shannon is shown to know the location and what's inside of the case key, when only Kate, John and Jack had been shown to know about it. The numbers: 815 appears on the window of the building Sayid leaves in the flashback.
The only way Boone was going to get up off that table was, if whatever healed John, decided to heal Boone too. Boone was a sacrifice the island demanded.
Apparently the beach they filmed on was a public beach, which had some squatters. It would've been a legal nightmare (this show didn't need any more issues [look up the making of]) so some of the squatters became background extras.
@@buddystewart2020 podcast called "What Went Wrong" has a 2 parter on how Lost got made. I heard it was a public beach before, but never hear of the squatters before this pod. I listened on spotify
My favourite character was Boone. Locke is responsible for his death. Led him into the jungle, had a vision of him covered in blood, led him to his death. Might not have been intentional, but he is responsible. Luckily, I had started liking Shannon more at this point. So, Shannon got to be my new favourite. Glad she didn't kill Locke, but I understood why she pointed a gun at him. And she has been experiencing a lot of character growth.
Locke was not responsible for Boone's death. I can't answer this properly without posting huge spoilers. But if you've watched this entire show, and you believe what you just said, you clearly didn't understand some stuff, some big stuff.
'Do you know how crazy you are for saying that mam?' The better question is, do you know how crazy YOU sound for saying that? Right, hey CIA, leave poor Sayid alone, and let that terror cell blow up that massive truck bomb and kill four or five hundred innocent people in Sydney. When she told Sayid he was going to talk his good friend into blowing himself up, that was the only way they could track him to the explosives. They weren't going to let him actually do it. But he has to want to do it, for them to get to the explosives. 'I hope one day Shannon will look back...', yes, I'm sure she will, when she's much older.😆 They reason you see so much conflict in this show is, conflict makes for interesting television. If they all got along and never faced hardships and everything was roses and sweet honey milk, there would never have been a second season of the show.
Don't be afraid to criticize Jack, only the ones that think he walks on water won't agree that he's one of the most flawed people among a cast of very flawed characters, and I suspect that's on purpose. As far as Locke...I think most viewers has similar feelings as you at this point, in both generally liking him but being frustrated with him. Opinions on why Locke's keeping it secret vary quite a bit, but if I discuss my opinion, it gets spoilery. It'll be interesting to see if/how your opinion on both of these characters change over time, as they're both a bit polarizing.
