You need to do the test with a rear wheel drive Chrysler 300 to even it out a little better. The Impala’s weight advantage is giving it the win every time. Even a RWD 300 is still heavier than the Impala by about 300-350 lbs but at least it would be closer to the Chevy. The Chrysler’s AWD gives it a slight boost off the line but after about 15 feet the Impala jumps ahead every time.

Damn. Legends said the 300 AWD would lose to its competitors who had FWD. Note ~ the Chevy impala weighing 600 lbs lighter make up for the AWD that the 300 has. Although I believe that the 300 should have won because of its AWD, I remembered that the car is Chrysler made.
mynameisrobert1217 it would have to have a considerable amount of more power to make it a fair race. AWD vehicles weigh more and lost power throughout the drivetrain as it goes through the powerband.
I drove an impala for years at work. It is the perfect sleeper. Quick little cars! I would bet the GM 3.6 has higher HP and torque across the rpm band than the Chrysler motor even though their peak numbers are close.

I rented a V6 Charger and the 3.6L in those are smoother than the DI 3.6L in the Gm cars, but the Charger/300 is heavier, so the Impala will always win. GM geared the Impalas for mpg as well, so they could be even faster with better gearing.

The description says the Chrysler 300 is 600 pounds lighter than the Impala. Is that correct? The Impala weighs about 3800 pounds. That would mean the Chrysler 300 is about 3200 pounds. Hard to believe.
The Impala is the replacement for the Chevy Caprice PPV for most police fleet vehicles in Kentucky. KSP is using the Dodge Charger R/T AWD Police Interceptor. I love the Impala, but that R/T V-8 in the Charger sounds awesome.
This really wasn’t a good matchup. Should have used a RWD 300, as the AWD system is not for track performance. And the curb weights of a RWD 300 and similarly equipped Impala are within less than 150 lbs of each other.
Lmao not anymore there reliability is going on a nice decline. In fact look at the silverado, sierra 1500, colorado, and canyon. They're in the top 7 or 8 for the least reliable trucks.
I used to have a 2010 impala. Around the city little Civics and Corolla and other cars would beat me. But she shined on the Hwy. I sold her and got a 4cyl 2014 Camry. I have the 3.6 charger and rented a impala with direct injection. Guess what. I won't line up next to one. The 2nd gear torque to 3rd is great. Guess I should post the video of me chirping the gears in sport mode.
That was not a fair race because the impala is front wheel drive so it should have more power to the wheel and it's 600lbs lighter. The 300 is awd so there is a lot more power loss.

3,600 lb Chevrolet Impala VS 4,200 lb Chrysler 300. That’s a significant difference in weight, 300 needs to go on a diet. Honestly I believe big American sedans are already on their death beds so not that it really matters. Just sad that domestic companies aren’t even trying to compete in this segment anymore.
Just finished working at a Chrysler dealership. All their vehicles are so cheap inside. The materials are crap and their vehicles are expensive. After working there I would never ever buy a Chrysler or Dodge
Kevin Lester Funny, Jeep and Ram have the best interiors in their classes. The 300 is very old, as is the Charger. New products have superior interior. Ram 1500, JGC(especially Summit), and even Pacifica are definitely in upper reaches of their classes.
Kevin Lester Lol you sure you do not have Alzheimer’s and worked for Chrysler 10 years ago? Chrysler vehicles are the top in their class when it comes to interiors now days.
Put the Ford Fusion sport or a Taurus sho, or Taurus with the V6, or the new 2019 Avalon with the updated V6. The 2018 Kia stinger would knock almost every car out of the water. The Ford Fusion sport with the 2.7 V6 eco boost is almost the same 0-60 but the Fusion is slightly slower.

Chevy and the impala are way more better. Especially reliability against the Chrysler... why do you think they are stopping the productions of them. It’s not just money.
FazeTug look at the Lincoln Continental. There was a lot of false demand. Because gas prices stayed below $3 a gallon, the sales on the Continental are low and crossovers/trucks sales are high. The market will always shift depending on what gas prices are. It's unfortunate
I love my impala. I've noticed when using ethanol. It gives it a bit more of an edge. As far as better accelerationand better response time when hitting the gas from a dead stop. But a full tank wont last me a week, but thats alright

Ha! Please tell me ur not serious.
Well obviously not it judt lost to an impala
No they don't! The 300 is vastly superior as a daily driver as well on long trips!
I rented a 2019 Impala with the V6 and I really liked it. It’s comfortable, it rides very smoothly and the V6 really gets this car going pretty fast.
Not a surprising race. If you want a 300 that is faster there are other options however.
Damn. Legends said the 300 AWD would lose to its competitors who had FWD.
Note ~ the Chevy impala weighing 600 lbs lighter make up for the AWD that the 300 has. Although I believe that the 300 should have won because of its AWD, I remembered that the car is Chrysler made.
Chris Gnay AWD is a disadvantage not an advantage..
@Derek Lowd
if you mean in general then you are an idiot. the more power a vehicle has, the more that awd will help.
The AWD would only make a difference if it had enough power to overwhelm the tires, the v6 300 doesn't have that kind of power.
Right. Essentially the 300 is a rear wheel drive without wheel slip plus additional 600 pounds.
mynameisrobert1217 it would have to have a considerable amount of more power to make it a fair race. AWD vehicles weigh more and lost power throughout the drivetrain as it goes through the powerband.
Still rolling around in my 2010 impala! Got it 8yrs ago n still going strong.
I have a 2010 ltz impala 3.9 and gas kills me
Liar. GM products fall apart. Go by autosome on Saturday morning. Plenty poor people buying cheap GM parts to keep there Chevy running.
Dat 3.9 Wont Run Wit Dat 3.6 Direct injection ......3.6 will even outrun the 5.3 ss impala ive seen it done
I have a RWD 300 and would still take that over pretty much FWD ANYTHING!
I drove an impala for years at work. It is the perfect sleeper. Quick little cars!
I would bet the GM 3.6 has higher HP and torque across the rpm band than the Chrysler motor even though their peak numbers are close.
Richard Skipper I am a mopar fan, but that little Chevy engine is a barn burner. It too will produce impressive numbers with basic stuff like exhaust and a tune. I could only imagine if you installed a turbo or super charger, cam shaft and the like. Both are good solid motors.
just dont get the 4 cylinder ,man its slow.
It's not little and who cares
just a bagel the 4-cylinder isn't exactly slow, but then again it is an economy engine. I have a 2018 Impala premium black edition, and I think it's fantastic car for the price.
Richard Skipper bs you'll never get 370 hp from that impala.lol you chevy fans just cant stand the fact chrylser finally has the faster cars .any hemi would easily beat that impala.its just slower get over it.& i drive a chevy so i know
I love the Impala. My first was a 2001 it started having pass lock security issues so it wouldn't start sometimes. I got a 2006 Impala I love it.
Yes yes we are good cars
@@ChevroletImpala-ez2wp bad card
That Impala smashed.
Southern WI Represent!! Come for the adventure in summer and stay in the winter because you are iced and snowed in!! I picked up a 14 Impala this last summer and I love the acceleration this V6 engine has!! Just wish the transmission was a bit faster and not prone to lagging!
Loved my 08 SS 😍😍
Remember not so long ago 300hp was a benchmark for muscle cars??
Dan Adams I mean v8s used to be Stock for muscle cars now stock is v6
And v8 truck engines. Now they’re pushing 400 hp
I remember when the Vette had 150 HP lol
I just hope GM to bring back the 3800 supercharged.
That one is a beast.
the engine is way too old. they got rid of it basically because it couldn't comply with modern emission standards
Time for a Taurus High output vs impala ! Cops would apréciate that run. You know what include the charger hemi v8 just to clarify who wins
The Impala wouldn’t keep up with the SHO, but we’d like to do SHO vs HEMI Charger at some point
Taurus will dust it like crazy💯
The sho is turboed. Of course it's faster. It's a performance package
Trevor Scott Doesn’t mean a thing I’ll smoke a impala in a Ford Taurus titanium
Hdf.Jordan Mhm k. Whatever you say. Make sure your steering wheel doesn't come off.
And you know why that impala won?
Cause the impala is fu*kin awesome
Awd vehicles work best for drag racing if they go bias at some point during the race otherwise it's gonna start falling behind due to the drivetrain lose.
I rented a V6 Charger and the 3.6L in those are smoother than the DI 3.6L in the Gm cars, but the Charger/300 is heavier, so the Impala will always win. GM geared the Impalas for mpg as well, so they could be even faster with better gearing.
SAAN27. If they would've put that 9 speed in the Impala it would definitely be quicker.
Two wheel drive Chrysler 300 v6 will leave that impala in the dust, straight up. 4wd is a disadvantage on pavement when put against same power 2wd.
Would be closer, the RWD would probably spin where the FWD would have more traction with the engine on the drive wheels
If you was going to race them to you should have had the 300s rear wheel drive they closer to each other that all wheel drive is slow
Where we live they are all pretty much all AWD
Kunes Country TV if that 300 had a cold air intake it would’ve made a huge difference. I have a 300 S all-wheel-drive and switching to a colder intake was night and day. Even sounds a lot better.
@@Life_and_Love what cold air intake did you put on it
@@hermesqaryo9712 Large Spectre filter I did my own piping as it was almost $300 for the kit. I like the Spectre over the K&N as the build quality is better.
@@Life_and_Love If its a Glacier Edition awd like mine then it already has a CAI including the S package. I can't tell if this one is or not. Mine is Polar Blue Express
Somehow I missed the purpose of racing a 2 wheel drive vehicle against a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Defies common sense.
Even all wheel drive cant make up for 600 lbs
One small thing of note:
The Impala comes with a 4-banger as standard equipment (2.5L, 197 HP), and the 300 is available with the V8 (5.7L, 370 HP)
But do the 2013 3.6 liter impala vs. the 2017 3.6 liter impala. The weird thing is. That the older impala was faster...
FazeTug you right about that
For real though the 2012 compared to the 2014 is snappier it’s like it wants to hit higher rpms right away and take off while the newer impala likes to sit at low rpms and pickup speed both are gens are still quick
Charles Larkin that’s true but even when my 2012 impala is loaded it feels snappier they almost feel like they’re tuned different but the newer one is a lot smoother I can’t say roomier cause it feels a little smaller but I imagine all the futures it has probably put on the extra weight
The Impala is built better. IMO
damn i was actually confused when y’all started racing never seen it get to the point so fast
The description says the Chrysler 300 is 600 pounds lighter than the Impala. Is that correct? The Impala weighs about 3800 pounds. That would mean the Chrysler 300 is about 3200 pounds. Hard to believe.
Good video.
Lol. I have an 2016 Impala LTZ with the v6. I love my car. It give you power when you need it. Perfect road trip car.
Just don't suddenly floor it in the middle of a fast corner unless you want Jesus to take the wheel.
GM rocks!!
Dutil41 hell yah it does
Like A Rock ❤️
Dutil41 now let's put the hemi in that 300😂😂
You do realized awd is heavier. Let's it be the hemi or rwd. Impala would lose.
Dutil41 - GM really isn’t rocking too hard these days outside of the Corvette and Camaro.
The Impala is the replacement for the Chevy Caprice PPV for most police fleet vehicles in Kentucky. KSP is using the Dodge Charger R/T AWD Police Interceptor. I love the Impala, but that R/T V-8 in the Charger sounds awesome.
hell yes. Impalas always kicking ass. still have my 2002, love it to pieces.
That impala weighs 600 pounds lighter than a 300 obviously it's going to winlmao
This really wasn’t a good matchup. Should have used a RWD 300, as the AWD system is not for track performance. And the curb weights of a RWD 300 and similarly equipped Impala are within less than 150 lbs of each other.
Gm/Chevy builds a damn good engine and transmission
Yup!
I wasn't driving her much once I got another car. But boy what a difference with the acceleration between the two I miss my Impala power.
The 300 still looks so much better
Julian Rada Yes it does!
Julian Rada nah the 06-2010 version is better. Nothing beats the original except them classic muscle cars
Tyree Coleman I own a 15 and I love it
Julian Rada thats cool Ive seen a 15 s for sale its looks clean but My dream car is a nice silver 2008 chrysler 300 srt8
I want to like the 300 but the interior is a disappointment to me
I have a 2011 Chrysler 200 with the 3.6 and I raced my friends 2014 Impala LTZ and I was kinda shocked when my 200 pulled right ahead
🔥IMPALA any day!
I have the 3.6 charger and rented a impala with direct injection. Guess what. I won't line up next to one. The 2nd gear torque to 3rd is great. Guess I should post the video of me chirping the gears in sport mode.
I love Chevy!!
Elliot
They're the best around 💪✌👍
That was not a fair race because the impala is front wheel drive so it should have more power to the wheel and it's 600lbs lighter. The 300 is awd so there is a lot more power loss.
Chrysler 200 3.6 vs VW passat 3.6 please
tornes19 you could look at my sister and I racing haha I got the Passat she has the 200 and my Passat even if she gets a little head start my Passat will get past 😂😂
Passat 3.6 is faster than the 200 3.6
They are very close, same 0-60 and 1/4 mile times, passat traps mph higher in the 1/4 than 200 so it would be a drivers race (check car and driver for tests), I raced 2 passat's and beat them both. That's why I think it would be a good video
(the Passat) sure isn't.
The Passat or CC 3.6 are actually pretty fast! Almost bought one of those but instead I bought a 335i.
Troll!!
Old or not I'd still love to have a 6.4 Charger / Challenger. Make mine Destroyer Grey (Gray?) Go Mango or Green Go.
tmmurphy Exactly. At least FCA is still making V8s affordably in their mainstream cars.
Impala vs Camry they both have v6 with 305 hp
Dixin Yamada Camry is obviously gonna win. It weighs less. And it’s a mid sized car.
Candy destroys it
tornes19 Camry can't hang
Camry will destroy it!, even my older 2011 Toyota Rav4 with 3.5 V6 will beat this Impala
Oh boy the Toyota fanboys . They think their camrys are the fastest cars on the road .
I own a 2016 Impala, and I can tell you it’s a hot rod. I’ve had it up to 130 mph and still accelerating before I took my foot out of it. And I’m getting 28 mpg combined city/hiway mileage. I bet the Chrysler can’t say that!!
Chevy and the impala are way more better. Especially reliability against the Chrysler... why do you think they are stopping the productions of them. It’s not just money.
FazeTug if reliability was the sole cause they would discontinue the charger too. Its the same car
FazeTug look at the Lincoln Continental. There was a lot of false demand. Because gas prices stayed below $3 a gallon, the sales on the Continental are low and crossovers/trucks sales are high. The market will always shift depending on what gas prices are. It's unfortunate
FazeTug "way more better ". That's gooder than what I was going to say.
Jason . Lmao
Stopping production of what?
2018 Ford Fusion Sport vs the competition of Chevy Malibu, Honda Accord Sport, Toyota Camry Sport, Nissan Altima SV, Mazda 2.0T
Fusion sport smokes them all. 2.7 ecoboost outclasses the rest in power and more importantly torque.
Pontiac GXP Vs Bonneville GXP
Kevin Williams 💯
Too bad they don’t make them any more...
GXP is a trim not a model.
Good video. I think the problem is that the impala isn't even offered with awd or a V8. So if you want speed, get the 300s hemi.
I love my impala. I've noticed when using ethanol. It gives it a bit more of an edge. As far as better accelerationand better response time when hitting the gas from a dead stop. But a full tank wont last me a week, but thats alright
The impala is probably the most comfortable mid size sedan I've ever driven. And I've driven the Accord, Camry, Altima, Fusion, and 300.
Wrong. Impala is a large-size sedan, all other others you mentioned are mid-sized which have much less legroom and smaller trunk.
@@passion830217 yeah good point. It is huge inside.
Yea, I'm 6'8" tall. Only sedan I fit in.
Avalon vs impala
hayward Cartwright impala would win because it still has more horsepower.
hayward Cartwright AVALON👍ALL DAY
FazeTug maybe 🤷🏽♂️
You should try Impala vs Maxima. Those Maximas are not half bad
the dodge is 9000 pounds
R still a close race
No it’s not 😂😂😂😂😂
I've got a 13 Impala with the V6 VVT engine. For being a full size car it's power is amazing.
Don’t believe it
How old was the Asian woman driving the 300?
*Doesn't like result due to personal bias and preconceptions - adds a little flavorful light racism to top it off*
I'm sorry you don't believe the results shown, but do tell, what mechanism can we use to distinguish your beliefs from delusions?
xebek
I guess you could try having a sense of humour😀
The other difference is that the Impala could do this around the clock for 2 years, while the Chrysler probably kicked a engine code after the second race. Check engine light all the way to the dealer.
Impala ss vs hemi 300
Josh. so in other words the hemi wins lolz
