Be wary of the stress damage tho.
Nice guide. I think the Leper is a class to mostly avoid, unless you need a character specifically for the Colors of Madness runs, or certain bosses that don't require reaching the back rows. Otherwise you'd always rather have a Hellion since they can hit any row or stun both front rows. Or Man-at-Arms who can reach 1-3, stun, buff, debuff, guard... The versatility is there and they will not have a useless turn at any point of combat. The Leper just doing his own thing and slowly smashing low priority targets while the rest of the team is focus firing backline, it's just a terrible lack of synergy and basically makes everything harder and slower. More dangerous. If you still need to bring Leper's on normal missions, pair them up with Bounty Hunter or Occultist, and pull the priority targets into Leper range. It won't always work since Lepers are so slow, but at least it's a game plan and at least it disrupts opponents turn.
Dismissive drive by My guilty pleasure is using lepers, however I cannot disagree with the flaws you mentioned. Another weakness is they have minimum Dodge and typically their accuracy is low. They can be very powerful with the correct supporting cast as you mentioned. I also like them with a jester to increase their speed, accuracy, and critical chance. This makes up for some of their weaknesses, but the biggest weakness of not hitting the back row is still very prevalent. In my second play through, I gravitated more towards hound masters and man at arm's for the reasons you mentioned. They can hit many rows and offer other utility.
@@jonasfull vestal is more of a support class. you want her to heal and deal some stuns, so damage isnt what you need for her. she is great in party´s that often doesnt have self heals, but can tank and/or dish out damage. so, usually combine her with highwayman, crusaders, bounty hunters, man-at-arms, or any class that lacks sustain. saying that, she is not vital, but can make some bosses a joke, especially if you can scale her heal with trinkets. I have one vestal that have a bonus of 67% heal, so its very rare for anyone to even hit death´s door, let alone be hit again while in this state.
Just an update for anyone coming back to this on point 1. There is now an option to make it so that if someone completed a Darkest Dungeon they can be used in the future runs or not depending if youve set it as restrictive, or permissive
@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming Options > Gameplay > scroll to the bottom till you see Never again. Downside to permissive is they apparently get stressed out when re entering
In your "favourite party" (Vestal, Jester, Crusader, Leper) you CAN do very good damage to the backrows with Crusader's Holy Lance and Jester Dirk Stab. Whenever you need backrow damage just use Dirk Stab to "cock the trigger", then release Crusader's Holy Lance (mostly lethal for undead). Revolve if needed.
Hey, just had a question for you. If Dismas died but got brought back during the revival event can I still get the achievement for him and Reynault in the DD?
Man i camped too soon thinking i was only 2 rooms away from finishing come to realize i was only half way done. Plus the boss fight. Brutal rookie mistake on my part.

You actually don't ever have to gamble on where the boss room is! If there are two rooms the same distance away it will always be the furthest down. If it's a tie again it's furthest to the right.
I started playing Darkest Dungeon about a month ago. I was wondering if you have any spoilers in your videos or give warnings in the video. Trying to keep it fun. I subscribed too. Thanks for the creative content.
Thank you for subscribing! Regarding spoilers, my new series is starting a new campaign where I am very aware of spoilers (bosses, dlc characters, and areas). In most of my live runs, if things come up I may not mention them (may have possible spoilers), so I would argue you are 100% safe in the series and character reviews. Also, it depends on what you count as spoilers. If you can give a definition I can point you in the direction of more videos, because as of now I am afraid to tell you which videos are okay if I do not know what you consider a spoiler. Again, the new series has a playlist and are titled episodes so you can watch in order. Those will have warnings for dlc characters and bosses verbally so you will have to pay attention. I try to give multiple warnings before things happen.
@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming Thanks for your reply! As for spoilers, tactics or tips are OK but saying what inventory item to use with which curio or exploits - especially boss ones would be. I'll be watching your videos since I'm totally into this game right now. Again Thanks!
The campaign series should be safe for you then, except for the curio and what item. I naturally know most of them so I do it without thinking about warning. If you actively try all the curios you come across for a day or two that should be sufficient enough to avoid spoilers in that regard. Obviously bosses and exploits will have warnings. The good news is, I edit my videos and this allows me a second chance to try and catch spoilers before release. Welcome to the game by the way.
For the boss room it is always the farthest away as you said but there’s actually a way to figure out if two are the same distance, I’m not sure in which order these two are but it goes room closest to the bottom of the map and room closest to the right of the map

Clear the dungeon first. THEN run back through it after you've killed everyone, looting all the urns and iron maidens after you already know what you need. This lets you dump the supplies that are vestigial and keep only what you need to interact with curious and get loot. You don't even need low torch light, but you can douse your torch, if you're feeling lucky.

Not sure how the settings are for PC but on ps4 there is a setting that allows heroes to go into a darkest dungeon multiple times. This obviously gives a significant advantage since you can make a dream party for all 4 dungeons and have no restrictions, which is exactly what I did with my Reynauld and Dismas. I’ve locked in arguably the best quirks for the builds I chose for them and most negative quirks they have are only situational debfuffs like more stress when torch is below 26 or easy to avoid things like that. However sending in heroes into a darkest dungeon multiple times WILL cause them significant stress damage so prepare for virtue/affliction roll of the dice. Just a helpful tip because personally having to have multiple parties simply because of Darkest Dungeon restrictions is a tad bit tedious and this game already infuriates me enough.
HiDdeN SQuiDZ Gaming ohhhh gotcha. Thanks for the heads up. I plan on playing PC soon once I save up enough and this is nice to know before I head in. Also wow. This video is a year old and you still replied. That really shows how much you care about your viewers and what they have to say. Thank you for the tips and dedication to your fans.
4:05 don't know if this is outdated, but the icon to the far left of the X in the corner on the trinket inventory is the "unequip all trinkets" button. You don't need to worry about taking trinkets off of people before they stress heal, using that takes it off them regardless of where they're at or what they're doing, the only exception I can think of maybe being if a character goes missing with the red question mark thing.
The footage in this video is a little older and my party strategy has changed drastically. I am not sure if you subscribed or not, but I have changed my prioritization to stress damage dealers now and I have much more attack row diversity. However, the Leper is still a personal weakness and I still like bringing him along.
Ive found that 1)Man at Arms 2)Highwayman 3) Vestil 4)Plague Doctor is THE BEST party Ive ever used so far. No stress, LOTS of room to attack from front row to back row

My guilty pleasure is using lepers, however I cannot disagree with the flaws you mentioned. They can hit many rows and offer other utility.
i mainly avoid Vestal since she like deals no damage
I only play with four antiquarians
@@clairelili873 Plus the aoe heal is a life saver if multiple heroes are on death's door

Bruh this game RAISES MY STRESS LEVEL😱😱😱😱🥶🥶🥶🥶
I feel you on that one!
Just an update for anyone coming back to this on point 1. There is now an option to make it so that if someone completed a Darkest Dungeon they can be used in the future runs or not depending if youve set it as restrictive, or permissive
Thank you for that. I am curious though, where is that setting?
@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming Options > Gameplay > scroll to the bottom till you see Never again. Downside to permissive is they apparently get stressed out when re entering
Yep it's the option that is turned on by default for Radiant difficulty
5:25 boss Room priority is furthest>most down side>most right side
Thank you!
@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming no problem
In your "favourite party" (Vestal, Jester, Crusader, Leper) you CAN do very good damage to the backrows with Crusader's Holy Lance and Jester Dirk Stab. Whenever you need backrow damage just use Dirk Stab to "cock the trigger", then release Crusader's Holy Lance (mostly lethal for undead). Revolve if needed.
Hey, just had a question for you. If Dismas died but got brought back during the revival event can I still get the achievement for him and Reynault in the DD?
From what I've seen and from my very little knowledge of game programming you should be able to.
Man i camped too soon thinking i was only 2 rooms away from finishing come to realize i was only half way done. Plus the boss fight. Brutal rookie mistake on my part.
It happens to everyone. I remember when I started playing, I camped at the end of a dungeon to be cheeky and I got surprised... I went out with 2 afflictions...
You actually don't ever have to gamble on where the boss room is! If there are two rooms the same distance away it will always be the furthest down. If it's a tie again it's furthest to the right.
Thank you for sharing. I did learn that later after this video but it's a great piece of information.
That is correct about the furthest room away.
9:54 8,000?! PATHETIC! I got 22 grand and 42 crests in the last dungeon I was in! 9 busts, 2 portraits, 3 deeds. I was stackin onyx past the 5 gem cap! How? The power of never looting my friends.
Correct. You can go back through after you complete the dungeon and gather more money. I made these videos a while ago and I've learned how to do more since then. Thank you for the additional tips though!
@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming That's some impressive humility given how cocky my comment was. Well done. That's a subscription from me.
@@tomhill3248 Thank you for subscribing! I do enjoy when people add their additional thoughts and perspectives though because I can only see it from one angle. So it is appreciated.
Thanks for the video mate, great tips :)
Thank you!
For PC without mods or cheesing it, you do have to take in 4 different parties which is really annoying :(. Thank you for watching!
Of course and thank you for watching and commenting!
That still works and I did that more religiously in my stygian run recently.
Your main party is an odd one for me, I always prioritize stress nukers and I avoid Lepers as much as I can.
The footage in this video is a little older and my party strategy has changed drastically. I am not sure if you subscribed or not, but I have changed my prioritization to stress damage dealers now and I have much more attack row diversity. However, the Leper is still a personal weakness and I still like bringing him along.
I love the Leper! I use them alot until the very end game.
4:18 wait what class is Aschuill? Is that a mod or?
Not to spoil anything but the more you progress things start happening.
@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming ahh interesting, alright thats something to look forward to then
Ive found that 1)Man at Arms 2)Highwayman 3) Vestil 4)Plague Doctor is THE BEST party Ive ever used so far. No stress, LOTS of room to attack from front row to back row
That is a pretty solid party comp. Lots of control and riposte!
Hold on, 3 places other than the darkest dungeon?!? You must of forgot the weald. Understandable. THOSE DARN GIANTS!!
I know it's probably just a mistake he made
I did forget. At the time of this video I sometimes mixed up the Warren's and the weald. Thank you for noticing that.
Don't know if you said it in other Videos but my besteht tip is to build the Bank so you don't have to worry about Money
I have not. I didn't include that since I was trying to do tips without dlc. But I agree with you.
In night ambush with skills that light the torch work to light up the dungeon for me at least

You are correct they do work. Thank you for noticing that, and I will be adding an annotation shortly in that section. Thank you for listening closely!
What should I do to prepare for my first darkest dungeon run?
I have videos on the first three! Should be in a playlist
Whats a good party composition for the first DD mission since im at like week 212 and almost every other boss have been slain besides the countess(crimson court)
I have two possible videos for you. Both are a guide so DO NOT watch it if you want the whole thing to be a surprise (see my go to party below).

I have had success with a Vestal, HWM, Crusader, (You can do another HWM in position two or a BH in postiion).
@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming already defeated the first mission with highwayman, man at arms, vestal and plague doc but lost the vestal though. Second mission i f'ed up so badly because i did not know how to use the talisman of flame
My dismas died in the beginning. Then I got a event that revived someone and I got dismas back. Does that still count for the achievement?
Yes it should.
HiDdeN SQuiDZ Gaming thanks man.
Waiiit.... does it really matter if the two beginners are dead? Is it worth restarting?
I would argue no. It is just an achievement.
@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming I started another save an hour ago with keeping both of them in mind, and I kid you not. They missed every attack and Dismas died right there before even getting to the village LMAO
I took it as a sign from RNGesus and returned to my first game. Tysm for your beginner tips. It can seem pretty overwhelming, especially if the Tutorial acts like it's the worst to have the characters die or insane. It makes you reluctant to play the early game !
Do you have any specific key tips for transitioning from apprentince to veteran level dungeons ?
If you want the best chances you can send individuals to the sanitarium to remove negative quirks and make sure they have their max skills on. Other than that, learning how to handle stress damage dealers will probably be your next biggest step as that will help concrete your transition to Champion. Accuracy increase trinkets will also help you greatly until you can max your skills out.
@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming thank you sir. Love your content. Been giving me some helpful advices on how to deal with bosses. I hope u can continue to upload DD content
Thank you!
Hit up that cove baby!
Cove is great for negative quirk removals!
Wow o thought I was mid game but NOPE turns out having 4 heroes at level 3 is not mid game at all
Yeah once a large majority of your heroes are level 4 and you are doing the veteran level bosses that's my mid game mindset.
@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming
Ok then well I guess one more week and I'll be mid game. Technically only a few days of play away, but I gotta work today and prob tomorrow.
Wait, so if a character completes a Darkest Dungeon then they will not be able to go back in another one? Why is that?
The game says it is too scary/traumatizing for them to do more than 1. It requires more grinding which can be frustrating, but at least they don't take up roster space anymore.
HiDdeN SQuiDZ Gaming it’s also worth mentioning that a character that survived a darkest dungeon run will boost the exp gained by lower level party members. So they are useful for speeding up the grind (if you weren’t already grinding out a few different parties)
Yo, u know on a apprentice dungeon that u can use a level 4 hero on then and a veteran you can use lvl 6, i do this a lot because it’s my first dungeon would you call this cheating?
No not at all. It's a part of the game mechanics.
Nah. Even in Radiant (which, I assume the context of your comment), the game is still hard as normal, and RNG can still screw you over. Only difference is Radiance doesn't have a time limit (from what I heard) and lvl 4s can piggyback newbies. Oh, and light levels go low slower.
Very nice video. Just a little thing that you had wrong: Plague doctor is a she :)
Thank you. On the fly I can mislabel some of the masked characters. Thank you for the comment!
Just saying, cause it seems like you didn't know. The plague doctor is female. Great vid, though.
Godzilla. Thank you, what I think I am going to do is write down a list of the genders to help me on the fly. Thank you for watching and pointing that out!
I am from Poland and in my language
we have other names for female and male characters. For example plague doctor in game is called "badaczka zarazy" and is obvious for me that she is female because male character should be called "badacz zarazy".
It is so much easier for me in opposite to english DD player :)
Thanks for pointing that out. I’m making a list of every classes gender and sexual preferences just to be clear.
The boss is not always the farthest from the start the old hag was right next to the start for me there was a long line going left and one room to the right and she was in the one room to the right
Was this recently? I've played through the game 3 times now, and never had that happen. Not saying it didn't happen to you, just curious.
The farthest away isn't usually literally the farthest, but it will be far away in one direction
Wait so can i still use heros who already went to the darkest dungeon other dungeons or i can't use them at all?
They can function in the normal dungeons just not the darkest.
@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming thanks i worried for a second, also the tips helped alot.
Awesome to hear! Sorry if that wasn't more clear. They should get a torch besides their name and clear up roster spots/not count towards it.
@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming it was the line at 1:18 that confused me but i underatood the rest.
I'll check after work but thank you for the time stamp.
There's 28 slots and 15 characters so you can't have 2 of each. No problem buddy, Antequarian is fucking useless, I plan to have 0 of them.
That's true. Pre darkest dungeon you only have 28. Once you start completing the darkest dungeons the people who complete the dungeon don't count towards the roster. So eventually you could have 2 of each but only after completing. Also yeah the antiquarians are rough.
