Perfuma teaching Catra the lesson she's always needed: "Vulnerability isn't a weakness." Not wanting to give love because you're afraid you won't recieve any in return is the best way to closet and destroy yourself. And I think this one lesson is so important for so many of us. People who have been closeted their entire lives due to any reason, made to believe showing any signs of vulnerability or emotion makes you weak. Catra, raised in an abusive environment, believed she never had anyone to confide in; she let her problems boil up inside her and then saw the result. The moment she decided to confront her self-destructive tendencies and opened to the people around her, everything began to change. When you're at your most vulnerable, you have the greatest capacity to grow. Some things hurt more when you let your walls down, but other things make you realize there is so much in life to experience, so much to be grateful about, so much you will miss if you close yourself off.
It truly is one of the most beautiful moments of season 5 and for Catra. Yes, you nailed it with that first line, and more and more you can see why Catra resonates so much with so many people, myself included. And yes, all beautifully said! It's so, so important to internalize the real meaning of the word "weakness" in order to keep growing as a person. Thank you for this amazing comment! 👏❤️

I just noticed that when the group needs to split up in Erlandia, Adora doesn't hesitate to send Catra, Melog, and Entrapta away as a team. This really shows how much Adora trusts Catra, probably without even thinking about it, to send them off without an "escort" from the BFS on their first mission back. Honestly I wonder if it made Catra's imposter syndrome worse to have Adora so quickly show that much trust.
Oh yo that's so true Zak, I never even thought about that! Trust towards Catra has gone a long way now, love to see it, I really appreciate that detail a lot more now. You're right, if Adora had sent someone to escort Catra, interactions would've been a lot more different and less positive in this and in the next ep. i wanted to say this earlier, but at 3:20 you can see on the screen two characters who look a lot like catra. i only noticed it recently for some reason. i believed catra was the last one of her specie (they're called magicats in the shera lore), but apparently the creator stated in a livestream that there are more magicats on another planet! and i just noticed that this is them right here lol. it'd be so cool to know more about this lore (in a shera movie😢). we really know nothing about where catra came from, but i honestly like it this way. same for adora, i like that they left it a bit of a mystery what happened to the first ones and to her family. i prefer that they left these things unsaid in this serie, because i don't think we need to know that kind of backstory about catra and adora for them to be whole as characters. they have their own story and their own found family. but it is still fun to hear theories about it and about the history of etheria. i'd like a spin-off serie or movie where we get more lore, just for the curiosity ahah. about the magicats, i personally like to think they were native to etheria, but after the first ones invaded it, a group of them decided to migrate to another planet, while a part stayed on etheria (catra's ancestors). i think catra was taken by the horde during a raid where her people were kjlled. but who knows, maybe she'll meet other magicats during their space road trip and adora will find eternia (i feel like she'd be suspicious about the eternians after everything she's seen tho ahahah). some people think that catra could be a lost magicat princess lol. i honestly do not think that's the case, but it’s fun to hear the theories that people come up with. if you have any thoughts or theories of your own you should share them :)
also did you know that adora is technically half terrestrial? based on the origianl shera/he-man lore, adora's mother is from Earth ahahah. that'd be a funny thing to see: the BFS accidentally finds Earth and explores it. they'd get arrested after a day probably

The fact that Keston John has the same voice for Horde prime, Hordak, Wrong Hordak and the Hordak clones But changes the inflection and tone to give each character a unique cadence and presence That's real talent.
so glad you're back to shera 🥰 i like these two episode especially because we get a lot of little moments and insights between characters and about the characters. i like that we see catra's struggle to fit in with the rebellion at first. you can tell she wants to connect but doesn't know how, so she does it by nagging at them with her usual sassy comments. but we also see her being vulnerable and open, even tho it's scary for her. she's really trying. so proud of her. then ofc shadow weaver has to come and mess things up as always...anyway. also, adora not being able to transform into shera is really interesting. i think after perfuma says that horde prime is taking away their friendships, adora does think of catra and how she almost lost her and how now horde prime is forcing her to use Shera to fight her own friends. and she doesn't want to hurt the people she loves. she is afraid, because she feels like no matter what she does, it's not enough to save them. she cannot tap into shera because she's afraid of hurting who she loves. it'd be much easier if she didn't have attachments then, because her attachments are her weakness, right? that's what light hope and shadow weaver always told her. but when someone is your "weakness", they're automatically your strength too (as you also pointed out). the love she feels for her friends (and her catra!!) is the source of her greatest power. we see that well in stranded, in save the cat (we also saw it in other seasons, like in the best island episode) and we see that in the finale of course. and this goes for all the characters too. adora might be catra's weakness (adora hurt her more than anyone because she loved her more than anyone), but she is also catra's strength. adora is the reason catra pushed through the chip, she's the reason she's trying to be better and not giving up on herself, she's even the reason she pushed through all those years of abuse in the fright zone when they were kids. and same goes for bow and glimmer, spinny and netossa, scorpia and perfuma, entrapta and hordak and everyone else. i really love the character dynamics in this show. they all feel so deeply connected and so real.

Shadow Weaver's return is just BRILLIANT narrative tension, bringing back ghosts from the past, and the show precisely started with Adora, Catra and Shadow Weaver. It's just great storytelling! Yesss, I was so confused at first as to why the powers were not working but it's precisely a mental conflict with the people she loves. And yesss, what a great remark you do with the weakness point! Light Hope's and SW's mentality echoes like a ghost in this show for Adora' it's just amazing. Really love your comments about the deep love and connection between Adora and Catra, on point. To be honest... by the end of the episode, I was feeling a little pissed at Perfuma. Now, I get the message she was trying to convey this episode, and I agree with it. HOWEVER. Netossa was willing to apply tough love, even going for Spinerella's old injury, in order to save her - and as a result, Spinerella was saved. Perfuma demanded Adora go easy on Scorpia, and as a result, by the end of the episode, Scorpia was still Horde Prime's slave. The willingness to show vulnerability is absolutely important, but sometimes you need to be harsh in order to be kind.
I can totally see where you're coming from because everyone's actions were offering different results, but I really do think that Perfuma's words before she escaped, which is essentially the message of the episode, really saved both her and Adora. I really believe that Scorpia somehow listened to Perfuma there and resisted the hive mind for a bit. And I think that the message of Perfuma being mainly targeted to Catra at the end is fitting because it's part of her healing process. Did Netossa apply vulenrability differently from Perfuma? Absolutely, which is great, because it also serves to question Perfuma's message and not as an absolute truth, therefore giving more depth and complexity to the theme of being vulnerable

Dios, no recordaba lo buena que es la 5° temporada, para mi es la mejor de todas, pero es obvio que solo es asi de buena por sus personajes tan bien manejas y explorados en las anteriores 4 temporadas, sin eso esta temporada no seria lo que es.
La quinta temporada está a otro nivel totalmente! Por supuesto, todas las temporadas anteriores hacen un trabajo brillante para construir cada personaje, sub-trama y temática importante para que realmente tengan un clímax emocionante y significativo. Es de las series que más me ha sorprendido en muchos años 👏
I enjoyed seasons 1-4. I really wanted to love this show, but season five was frustrating and disappointing to watch. I liked the first half of this season, but then after “Save the Cat”, it all went downhill for me. There’s a lot of good things in the show, but Catradora brings it down for me. I can’t ship them. *It never stopped you before.* I could say the same about you. I mean, you treated Adora a lot worse than she ever treated you. Even though they were in a war and were enemies, if Perfuma and Scorpia decide to be a couple, I’ll ship it because yes, even though they were on opposite sides, they didn’t actively be enemies. Yes, thank you Netossa! I don’t know why you’re the first one that fought Catra, but you are for some reason. Catra totally deserved that icy fist. Except for her and Frosta, all of them are all buddies with Catra even after what she’d done, even teasing her “cute sneeze”. Where’s the warranted paranoia and suspicion? So, are we just ignoring and forgetting all she’d done in four seasons and her saving Glimmer just negates all of that? She is the reason that Angella sacrificed herself. If she hadn’t pulled the level, Angella would have no reason to sacrifice herself to be brave. Is Catra a victim? Yes. But that is by no means an excuse or pardon of her actions. She even went as far as to not care that the universe would be destroyed if it meant she would finally win over Adora. Catra was a victim turned abuser. Being abused explained her actions, but doesn’t excuse them. Catra made her choice as Adora said, her abuse can’t be used as an excuse for letting her commit genocide or try to destroy the universe because she went too far and hurt way too many innocents.
Its funny how you focus so much on Catra and how she shouldn't be forgiven, meanwhile Entrapta built machines of war to help the Horde win the war, and helped build the portal machine that almost destroyed the world and caused Angella's death but she just never gets mentioned when people bring this topic up, as if its all Catra's fault and noone elses. Entrapta never apologized for any of this stuff either. In fact, Entrapta was going to pull the switch herself and the only reason she didnt is because Adora convinced her it might not work - not because of any actual concern for the Horde conquering Etheria. Also, you yourself are apparently totally fine with people just accepting Scorpia, but when it comes to Catra they're all supposed to be paranoid and suspicious even though Catra actually sacrificed herself to thwart Horde Prime, thereby literally giving people a reason not to be suspicious and paranoid of her.

To be honest... by the end of the episode, I was feeling a little pissed at Perfuma.
Now, I get the message she was trying to convey this episode, and I agree with it.
HOWEVER.
Netossa was willing to apply tough love, even going for Spinerella's old injury, in order to save her - and as a result, Spinerella was saved.
Perfuma demanded Adora go easy on Scorpia, and as a result, by the end of the episode, Scorpia was still Horde Prime's slave.
The willingness to show vulnerability is absolutely important, but sometimes you need to be harsh in order to be kind.
I can totally see where you're coming from because everyone's actions were offering different results, but I really do think that Perfuma's words before she escaped, which is essentially the message of the episode, really saved both her and Adora. I really believe that Scorpia somehow listened to Perfuma there and resisted the hive mind for a bit. And I think that the message of Perfuma being mainly targeted to Catra at the end is fitting because it's part of her healing process. Did Netossa apply vulenrability differently from Perfuma? Absolutely, which is great, because it also serves to question Perfuma's message and not as an absolute truth, therefore giving more depth and complexity to the theme of being vulnerable

Dios, no recordaba lo buena que es la 5° temporada, para mi es la mejor de todas, pero es obvio que solo es asi de buena por sus personajes tan bien manejas y explorados en las anteriores 4 temporadas, sin eso esta temporada no seria lo que es.
La quinta temporada está a otro nivel totalmente! Por supuesto, todas las temporadas anteriores hacen un trabajo brillante para construir cada personaje, sub-trama y temática importante para que realmente tengan un clímax emocionante y significativo. Es de las series que más me ha sorprendido en muchos años 👏

I enjoyed seasons 1-4. I really wanted to love this show, but season five was frustrating and disappointing to watch. I liked the first half of this season, but then after “Save the Cat”, it all went downhill for me. There’s a lot of good things in the show, but Catradora brings it down for me. I can’t ship them.
*It never stopped you before.* I could say the same about you. I mean, you treated Adora a lot worse than she ever treated you. Even though they were in a war and were enemies, if Perfuma and Scorpia decide to be a couple, I’ll ship it because yes, even though they were on opposite sides, they didn’t actively be enemies.
Yes, thank you Netossa! I don’t know why you’re the first one that fought Catra, but you are for some reason. Catra totally deserved that icy fist. Except for her and Frosta, all of them are all buddies with Catra even after what she’d done, even teasing her “cute sneeze”. Where’s the warranted paranoia and suspicion? So, are we just ignoring and forgetting all she’d done in four seasons and her saving Glimmer just negates all of that? She is the reason that Angella sacrificed herself. If she hadn’t pulled the level, Angella would have no reason to sacrifice herself to be brave.
Is Catra a victim? Yes. But that is by no means an excuse or pardon of her actions. She even went as far as to not care that the universe would be destroyed if it meant she would finally win over Adora. Catra was a victim turned abuser. Being abused explained her actions, but doesn’t excuse them. Catra made her choice as Adora said, her abuse can’t be used as an excuse for letting her commit genocide or try to destroy the universe because she went too far and hurt way too many innocents.
Its funny how you focus so much on Catra and how she shouldn't be forgiven, meanwhile Entrapta built machines of war to help the Horde win the war, and helped build the portal machine that almost destroyed the world and caused Angella's death but she just never gets mentioned when people bring this topic up, as if its all Catra's fault and noone elses. Entrapta never apologized for any of this stuff either. In fact, Entrapta was going to pull the switch herself and the only reason she didnt is because Adora convinced her it might not work - not because of any actual concern for the Horde conquering Etheria.
Also, you yourself are apparently totally fine with people just accepting Scorpia, but when it comes to Catra they're all supposed to be paranoid and suspicious even though Catra actually sacrificed herself to thwart Horde Prime, thereby literally giving people a reason not to be suspicious and paranoid of her.
