This was the first or second tune I learned on mandolin and I’ve been playing your version for about 10-11 years now. I still haven’t heard anyone else do it quite like this. Thanks for the video and the unique version of an awesome tune!
I'm fascinated how different this version is than the others I've heard - and how many versions there are! I mean melody, not just different styles. They must have evolved (be evolving) in different areas of the country/world? Any idea the history of the differences, who's played which versions, are some more "Irish" and others more bluegrass? For example: ruclips.net/video/7hTpIYDXkc8/видео.html ruclips.net/video/6RniNtSARnA/видео.html ruclips.net/video/sYau7QfiiuM/видео.html ruclips.net/video/VtxdaAui4tw/видео.html ruclips.net/video/fy-2AinZE-Q/видео.html ruclips.net/video/aysX9kBf1f4/видео.html
hello John...i agree, it seems these 'standards' do get interpreted with a great deal of variety. IMO that's a good thing - thanks for giving your time to check this out and your posts is sincerely appreciated.
