I really do appreciate all these lessons you put out. I can honestly say the skills I've developed on the mandolin are a product of your content on RUclips and Patreon. Your teaching methods and format are very well thought out and super easy to follow. Thank you so much David!!!
I'm a guitar player I am just getting into bluegrass and I have a cheap Ibanez mandolin that barely stays in tune. This was the first time I actually sat down for a real lesson and learn a tune. I don't even know this tune and I played along! So much fun! GREAT lesson and great format. I really like you how take it in bite size pieces and playing along with the track was great. Subscribed! Amazing stuff my friend! Also a previous video said you are in Clemson. I am a graduate from Clemson University! Nice!
Thank you for this David! I've been playing the mandolin for over 30 years and I still find it refreshing to learn new ways to play an old favorite fiddle tune!!
Thank you for this. I play guitar and banjo, and I’m trying to learn mandolin and teach my wife to play mandolin as well. This is the best explanation of the relationship/relevance of scales. I have always struggled with how to use a scale; it always seemed like pointless exercise work. You broke it down really nicely.
Thanks for all the great videos! I happened to see an Aeropress in a photo you posted recently... we need an Aeropress recipe demo video : ) Nothin like some good picking and a good cup of coffee!
That was great, but man I've got some homework now! I've been playing it in that original 1st position for years with some little variations to not bore myself or others to tears! Time to get woodshedding!! Thanks again
Thank you for your well-structured lessons, David! It's really great how you build up your lessons. I always end up having quite some homework, but it all makes perfect sense! Oh, and by the way, since there are (as far as I know) no (bluegrass) mandolin teachers here in Belgium, it's great to have one online across the ocean :)
I'm 67 yrs old and you are the best teacher I've ever encountered . Thank you, my mandolin skills have really improved.😎

Great to hear! Happy picking!

Yes!!! We will make this happen!
David this is great! Hoping you could do this for the other scales as well. Really helps a beginner to unlock that fretboard!
Glad you liked it! And yes, hope we can dig into some other scales like this soon!

Great lesson on a classic tune. Keep up the great work. Your content is dense but presented nicely.

Super helpful. Thank you!
hey! thanks for these lessons!!! do you have any recommendations for beginner mandolins that are still playable?
Sure thing! Check out Eastmans is you're looking for something more affordable that's still playable
I agree! I love my Eastman ❤️
